Josh Schmidt is a composer, sound designer, producer and musician working in film and theatre.
With Joshua Oppenheimer's The End (2024) he makes his feature film debut as composer of all the songs and incidental music (the latter in collaboration with Marius de Vries. He also provided the orchestrations.
In theatre, Joshua is the award-winning composer of Adding Machine, Midwestern Gothic, A Minister's Wife, Whida Peru, and Gift of the Magi.
Josh is also an accomplished sound composer/designer with over 250 credits to his name including productions Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and international venues.
Josh is a 2012 Sundance Theatre Lab UCross artist, and a recipient of the American Musical Voices Project honoree grant. In 2020 he received the 2020 Lotte Lenya Composition Award from the Kurt Weill Foundation.
