Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for “The Archies,” a coming-of-age, live action musical set in 1960s India based on the teenagers of Riverdale.

“The Archies” is a feature film adaptation of the Archie comics, which are hugely popular on the Indian subcontinent.

The teaser, released during Netflix’s Tudum fan event, reveals that the film is set in 1964 in Riverdale, described on a railway sign as a “hill station,” a term dating back to colonial times that refers to a town located at a higher elevation than the nearby plain. One of the transport links servicing the hill stations are small mountain railway trains running on narrow gauge tracks, known affectionately in India as “toy trains” and the teaser opens with a shot of top train puffing into Riverdale station.

Once in the quaint town, the teaser reveals the iconic Pop Tate’s, a soda shop that Archie and his friends hang out at.

Alia Bhatt, Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan stars of Netflix’s action adventure Heart of Stone will be taking part in a very special event! The Tudum: A Global Fan Event live stream will be broadcast live in front of thousands of fans in São Paulo, Brazil, to audiences worldwide this weekend on 17th June.

Netflix’s 2023 edition of Tudum, hailed as a “global fan event,” will roll out the virtual red carpet for Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, Zack Snyder, Jenna Ortega, Penn Badgley, John Boyega, Nicola Coughlan and more when it kicks off on June 17.

The streamer announced on Thursday that the event will feature first looks, trailers, news and announcements for upcoming original films and shows like Snyder’s sci-fi epic “Rebel Moon,” “Bridgerton,” “Queen Charlotte,” “The Witcher,” “Squid Game,” “Wednesday,” “You,” “Emily in Paris,” “Stranger Things” and “3 Body Problem.”

The two-hour livestream will take place on YouTube, but will also be happening live in front of “thousands of fans” in São Paulo, Brazil. It begins at 1:30 p.m. Pt/4:30 p.m. Et on June 17 and runs through June 18.

Netflix has officially announced the details for the fast-approaching 2023 iteration of Tudum: A Global Fan Event.

This year's Tudum is set to take place on Saturday, June 17, with the event livestreaming from São Paulo, Brazil starting at 1:30 p.m. Pt/4:30 p.m. Et/5:30pm Brt. Fans will be able to tune in at YouTube.com/Netflix for "exclusive news," as well as "never-before-seen footage, trailers, and first looks of your favorite series, films and games." To that end, a number of Netflix actors and creatives will appear live in Brazil, including Chris Hemsworth for Extraction, Gal Gadot for Heart of Stone, Henry Cavill for The Witcher and Zack Snyder for Rebel Moon, not to mention the entire main cast of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Aryan Khan, the son of Hindi film industry superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is gearing up to make his debut as showrunner and director with a series set against the backdrop of the film industry.

Red Chillies Entertainment, the production company founded by Shah Rukh Khan, will finance the six-episode series, which is scripted by Aryan Khan and currently in pre-production to start shooting later this year. It’s understood the series has the working title Stardom, although that hasn’t been confirmed by the producers.

Local press reported a statement from an unidentified source: “To be made under the production of Red Chillies Entertainment, Stardom will be set against the backdrop of the film industry. It will be a six-episode series. The series is currently in its production stage and is expected to go on floors in 2023.”

The upcoming streaming film ‘The Archies’, directed by Zoya Akhtar, has wrapped up its filming and is now set to enter the post-production stage. The film marks the Bollywood debut of Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda and additionally stars Mihir Ahuja, Dot, Yuvraj Menda and Vedang Raina.

The musical film is an adaptation of the globally loved ‘Archie’ Comics and has the gang of teenagers Archie, Betty, Dilton, Ether, Jughead, Reggie and Veronica at the centre of it. The film is touted to be filled with the youthful energy, hope and excitement synonymous with the 1960s.

On Monday, director Zoya Akhtar took to her Instagram to share the wrap up pictures from the sets. She wrote in the caption: “Archieeeeeessssss! Film Wrap. Best Crew. Best Cast. Only Gratitude.”

The film has been produced by Tiger Baby Films (Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar) in collaboration with ‘Archie’ Comics and Graphic India.

As the king of romance Shah Rukh Khan turns 57 today, his daughter Suhana Khan posted a sweet message for her best friend on social media long with a throwback picture. Suhana took to Instagram where she shared a childhood picture of herself. It features her along with her father Shah Rukh and brother Aryan. The siblings can be seen posing with Srk.

She captioned it: “Happy birthday to my best friend,” and added with a heart emoji: “I love you the most.”
