These 2 7-Year-Old WWII Films Were Released at the Same Time & Told the Same Story (But 1 Is Clearly the Better Movie)

The Battle of Britain has inspired several war films, including two strikingly similar releases in 2018 – Hurricane and 303 Squadron. Both set out to tell the story of the Polish pilots of No. 303 Squadron Raf, a group that played a crucial yet often overlooked role in Britain’s defense. Yet, despite sharing the same premise, the two films take dramatically different approaches, with only one standing out as an effective war epic.

Hurricane captures the intensity of the battle with exhilarating aerial combat scenes, all while maintaining a strong character-driven story. On the other hand, 303 Squadron opts for a more straightforward historical reenactment that struggles to build emotional engagement. While both aim to honor the same heroes, only Hurricane finds the right balance between action and story, while 303 Squadron falls short with its unimaginative performances and pacing.
