Jonathan James Rodriguez is a multi-talented creative force: musician, actor, comedian, and, since the pandemic, playwright. A proud alumnus of the Performing Arts powerhouse Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in the Bronx, NY, he began his artistic journey at the age of 9 as a competitive drummer. Later, he became the frontman of the neo-hip-hop band International EA at 16, before discovering his passion for theater in 2017.
In 2023, Jonathan showcased his range by writing, directing, producing, and managing sound and lighting for his poignant yet humorous short play Evelyn & Adam, presented at the NY Theatre Festival.
Currently residing in Puerto Rico, Jonathan is working on Salon Boriqua, a stage play that authentically captures the history of a barbershop situated at the heart of the USA's colonization of the island. His artistic evolution reflects his ability to blend creativity with cultural and historical depth.
