To promote its DVD release next week of The Chaos Experiment, Genius Products sent Fango an exclusive video clip of star Val Kilmer discussing his villainous starring role in the film. You can check it out below the cut.

Kilmer stars in the movie, directed by Philippe Martinez from a Robert Malkani script, as an unbalanced and discredited scientist who attempts to prove his theories about global warming’s effects on humanity by locking six people in a steam room and subjecting them to increasing heat. Armand Assante, Eric Roberts, Megan Brown, Patrick Muldoon and Eve Mauro co-star. "The Steam Experiment," also known as "The Chaos Experiment," will be released on DVD August 4, 2009 through Genius Products. His victims are played by Eric Roberts, Megan Brown, Patrick Muldoon, Eve Mauro, Quinn Duffy and Cordelia Reynolds; Armand Assante also stars as the detective interrogating Pettis, who will only disclose his captives’ location if his beliefs are printed as a front-page newspaper story.

The 52nd San Francisco International Film Festival will hold its third annual Midnight Awards, honoring Elijah Wood and Evan Rachel Wood, on April 25 at the W San Francisco Hotel.

The event, taking the form of a late-night talk show hosted by author Beth Lisick, will include interviews with the two young actors and clips of their work before the presentation of the awards.

The Midnight Awards were created in 2007 to honor a dynamic young actor and actress entering the prime of their careers who have made outstanding contributions to independent and Hollywood cinema and who bring intelligence, talent and depth of character to their roles. Armand Assante, Eric Roberts, Megan Brown and Patrick Muldoon have also signed on to star in the project, which recently began filming in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Written by Rob Malkani, “Steam” focuses on a former university professor (Kilmer) who traps six people in a Turkish bathhouse and keeps increasing the temperature to prove to the world that humanity will slip into chaos under the impact of global warming.

Assante plays a detective who tries to find the location of the hostages. Roberts, Brown and Muldoon play three of the victims. On board to star as the remaining three are Eve Mauro, Quinn Duffy and Cordelia Reynolds.

Elijah Wood is making his first foray into producing, teaming with Anthony Moody and Rob Malkani's Indalo Prods. to bring to the big screen an adaptation of Elliott Chaze's legendary noir novel Black Wings Has My Angel.

The script is being penned by Barry Gifford (Wild at Heart, Lost Highway) and writer-producer-director Christopher Peditto.

Chaze was a newspaperman and columnist in Mississippi who wrote books on the side. Angel, published in 1953, is considered one of the shining lights of the Fawcett Gold Medal paperback line and a pulp classic.

The story centers on an antihero, an ex-convict, who stages a daring armed car robbery in Colorado with the help of a call girl whom he picked up in a backwoods Mississippi motel.

The book was out of print for about 50 years and Peditto spent 10 years chasing down and securing the film rights.
