Seth's first official film role almost didn't happen. While leaving Newman University after a theater audition, Seth crossed paths while leaving with Mark Mannette, who asked if he was at the college to attend the film auditions. Seth had not heard about the film and asked if he could audition, and ended up cast in "The Contested Plains" as a Union soldier.

Seth began performing in middle school, with a performance as Rapunzel's Prince in "Into the Woods Jr." He had auditioned for the year prior, Annie JR, but was told to attend callbacks. He didn't know what that meant, so he went home and was not cast that year.
