Sydney Shear is an American film director, screenwriter, actress, and producer from Los Angeles. She is best known for her role in Emmy award-winning Lauren Greenfield's "Social Studies" on Hulu/FX. Sydney's highly anticipated short film, "Autumn Leaves", is set to release 2025. She is the daughter of Brian and Daniella Shear and has one younger sister, Sunny Shear. She studied film and television at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. From an early age, Sydney has known that storytelling was her calling. Her passion for filmmaking was inspired by her late grandfather, Barry Shear, [Across 110th St., Hawaii Five-0 (1969), Night Gallery], a pioneer of early film and television directing.
