Mahmoud Ghonim is an award-winning director best known for his work on the music video Summer Love, which won the 2024 NATAS Southeast Student Production Award, and the short film The Heist, which earned him a Best Director nomination at the 2025 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival.
Born in Egypt and later immigrating to the United States, he has pursued a career in visual storytelling with a strong foundation in both academic training and practical experience. He earned a B.A. in Film and Media, with a minor in Entertainment Management, from Georgia State University in January 2020. He went on to complete his M.A. in Film and Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, Georgia, in August 2023.
Over the course of his career, he has directed and collaborated on a wide range of short films, music videos, and television commercials. His short film The Heist was accepted into competition for the 2024 Student Academy Awards and was selected at Vienna Film Stories, for Best Director and Best Comedy.
His music video Summer Love continues to receive international acclaim, winning at the 4th Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival, becoming a semi-finalist at the Giuria del Festival del Cinema di Cefalù receiving an honorable mention. Murphy's Law: received honorable mention in the First-Time Filmmaker Sessions.
