- Lee Joo-Sil was born on March 8, 1944 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do , Japanese Colonial Period. She was an actress, known for Dernier train pour Busan (2016), Demon Catchers (2020) and Squid Game (2021). She died on February 2, 2025 in Uijeongbu, South Korea.
- She had previously been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 1993. Despite her long struggle with the illness, she graduated from college and received a doctorate in public health from Wonkwang University in 2010 with a thesis titled 'The Effect of Integrated Arts Therapy on the Post-Traumatic Self-Identity, Self-Esteem, and Self-Control of North Korean Defectors'.
- Lee Joo Shil was a South Korean stage, movie and TGV-actress. Lee took on a role in Netflix's highly anticipated Squid Game 2 as Park Mal Soon, the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (played by Wi Ha Joon) and stepmother of Hwang In Ho (played by Lee Byung Hun).
