David Knijnenburg is an award winning Dutch/Australian actor, probably best known for something that he didn't even appear in. Doctor Who. When David Tennant announced he would be leaving the show, the press were very busy speculating about the name of the actor who would replace him. David Knijnenburg was one of those names. And despite being largely unknown, he suddenly began trending. News reports in Australia and the US suggested that he might be in the running. His name appeared is lists with bookmakers and online. Keyboard warriors criticised him despite never having seen him act. The Doctor Who production office and the actor himself declined to comment. Ultimately the role went to Matt Smith, who was also largely unknown at the time.
