When 9-1-1 Season 8 returns, every character will jump back into the chaos of their personal and professional lives. And given that this is 9-1-1, these issues are usually catastrophic for the soul or body. Hen has seen her fair share of troubles since she joined the firehouse, and the next batch seems especially trying. Ahead of Season 8, Aisha Hinds and the cast of 9-1-1 participated in a panel discussion about the show with The Paley Center for Media. They opened up about their characters' journeys in the upcoming season, leading to some revelations by Hinds. When the show returns, the firehouse will be dealing with a new captain who does not have the best reputation with them. Meanwhile, Hen and Karen continue their fight for Mara. Hinds talked about how these two issues destabilize Hen, saying:...

Bees! A major 118 shakeup! That’s enough to keep the first responders busy when 9-1-1 Season 8 begins, but of course, there’s much more to come. The entire cast—Angela Bassett (Athena), Peter Krause (Bobby), Aisha Hinds (Hen), Kenneth Choi (Chimney), Oliver Stark (Buck), Jennifer Love Hewitt (Maddie), and Ryan Guzman (Eddie)—sat down for a conversation for Paley Fest Fall TV previews that teases what’s ahead. Bobby and Athena’s New Home At the end of Season 7, Bobby and Athena’s house was burned down. Now, in Season 8, they’re house hunting while living in corporate housing, Krause reveals. “We go through a little tug of war about what exactly we’re going to do for housing, but we have filmed a scene where we’ve got a sense of direction,” he teases. Bassett points out a must-have for them, considering Bobby’s cooking, is a “great kitchen.

After debuting in January 2018, 9-1-1 quickly became a rising star for Fox thanks to its big disasters, notable cast members, and emotional storylines. Then, after six successful seasons, Fox canceled the show. Despite being Fox's top-rated scripted series with adults 1849, the show was also one of Fox's most expensive shows, with episodes costing a rumored $9-$10 million each after cast salaries, impressive stunts, and elaborate visual effects. Lucky for the cast and crew, 9-1-1 was developed when Fox and then-20th Century Fox were part of the same company. When Disney acquired some of Fox's assets, it included the TV studio, now called 20th TV, meaning that 9-1-1 had a parent company that was happy to take the show to its new network, ABC.

Have you heard the buzz? A swarm of bees is making a mess for the heroes of Lafd’s Station 118 in their Season 8 premiere! Here, 9-1-1‘s Aisha Hinds explains how her kick-ass firefighter-paramedic Hen handles the threat, as well as the sting of having her nasty old foe Gerrard (Brian Thompson) as the new captain. Uggh, Gerrard. How does his return impact the 118 and Hen, in particular? Aisha Hinds: Hen has a very storied history with Gerrard, as he was her first point of contact in the capacity of Captain when she decided to become a firefighter paramedic. His welcome then was far from warm, and his shocking return subsequently sends chills up her spine. Gerrard’s return is an experience that keeps us on our toes. Where does that leave former captain, Bobby (Peter Krause)? Bobby has been placed on a special “assignment.” Hen is the best...

Los Angeles is about to go full “Wicker Man” thanks to the first teaser for “9-1-1” Season 8. The upcoming installment — as well as its bee-themed three-part opener — will premiere on ABC on Sept. 26. New episodes will be available to stream the following day on Hulu and Disney+
So far, the “9-1-1” team has tackled tsunamis, earthquakes, floods and a bouncy castle that flew away. But this time around, their natural disaster foe is 22 million killer bees. Set to Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight,” the 30-second teaser starts with Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) taking a 9-1-1 call. The camera then immediately snaps to show a truck exploding as it carries multiple crates.
“That truck was hauling 22 million killer bees,” a fellow dispatcher tells Maddie.
“Enough bees to kill …?” she asks.
“Forty-four thousand people.”
As this version of “In the Air Tonight” becomes more frantic, the camera shows people wildly swatting at their faces.

We've been buzzing (pun fully intended!) about 911 season 8 since the first teaser dropped. ABC went full tilt bee, letting the insects be the shining stars of their promotional push without giving us even half a second of footage from the actual season. Thankfully, they've stopped holding back on us. A teaser has been released giving us some information on how exactly a bee-nado has been unleashed!
In a scene that looks like it could come straight out of a Final Destination movie, the bees escape their boxes after the truck carrying them is involved in a collision on a bridge. They, like the rest of the city, were minding their business but we all know what happens when a hive gets disturbed--these tiny insects transform into a big and dangerous problem.

Struggling with troubles from his past, Bobby nearly dies and ultimately loses his home in a fire. He leaves his post as the leader of the 118, with the 9-1-1 season 7 finale confirming that the villainous Gerrard (Brian Thompson) is Captain Nash's replacement.

As one of television's most-watched procedural shows, 9-1-1 is best known for its big catastrophes. The firefighters and paramedics at the 118, along with their LAPD and 9-1-1 dispatch colleagues, have seen a tsunami in Santa Monica, a mudslide in the Hollywood Hills, a citywide blackout, and a 7.1 earthquake, not to mention countless bizarre vehicle accidents, a train derailment, a bomber, and a sniper who targeted firefighters. No matter what they're facing, the first responders serving Los Angeles work hard to save the people in their community while also being there for each other.

TikTok has been measurably cutting into Google‘s search traffic for years, with more and more Gen Z users turning to the app for questions about where to eat and what to buy. Southwest Airlines is taking advantage of that trend with its latest ad campaign, which tapped 10 creators for a sponsored sweep aimed at selling plane tickets to the youths.
To create the campaign, Southwest flew all 10 creators to destinations like Denver, Chicago, New Orleans, Cancún, Mexico, and Hawaii, so they could film custom content on-site. That content will roll out in phases, with all videos being shoppable: a “Book Now” button will appear that’ll launch an in-platform tool where users can buy tickets directly from the creators’ content.

When a new show begins, viewers don't always have the opportunity to get to know who the characters used to be, only who they are in the show's present day. To tell the backstories of their characters, ABC's 9-1-1 has what fans refer to as the "Begins" episodes. This article contains spoilers for 9-1-1 season 7.
The happy endings in 9-1-1 season 7 are overshadowed by Vincent's return, setting up a disappointing season 8. Vincent's history of bullying and sexism makes his presence in season 8 a dreaded obstacle for the 118 crew and the audience. Bobby's resignation as captain paves the way for Vincent to take over, leaving Bobby's future with the 118 uncertain and potentially demoted.
In the final episode of 9-1-1 season 7, Los Angeles' first responders each have their own (mostly) happy endings, however, the last scene of the season creates a conflict that will make season 8 more annoying than it is entertaining. The seventh season of 9-1-1 was filled with daring rescues and dangerous situations, and episode 10 was no different. After a devastating house fire, Bobby is in critical condition and Athena is determined to find the arsonist, while Hen struggles for custody and Eddie faces a troubling reality with Christopher.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the 9-1-1 Season 7 finale “All Fall Down.”] There’s good news and there’s unfortunate news when it comes to Bobby (Peter Krause) in the 9-1-1 Season 7 finale: He’s alive, but there’s a major twist for the 118. A fire may have completely burned down Bobby and Athena’s (Angela Bassett) house—the enemies he and Amir (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) made a couple episodes ago track them down for revenge—but at least everyone survives. And, after that and a conversation with Amir, Bobby’s realized that his decision to quit the Lafd isn’t the right one. The only problem? Bobby returns to work to find that Gerrard (Brian Thompson)—yes, that awful captain who made the workplace so uncomfortable for Hen (Aisha Hinds) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) before Nash came along—is now the 118’s captain. According to Gerrard, there are some concerns downtown of a leadership deficit in ...

9-1-1 is no stranger to leaving viewers with cliffhangers, but Thursday’s Season 7 finale had to reveal Bobby’s fate after the beloved character suffered a heart attack.
At the beginning of the shocking episode, Athena learned her husband’s heart stopped for 14 minutes, meaning the chances of him surviving were not good.
As Bobby’s condition worsened, Athena learned that the fire at the Nash residence was the result of an arson attack.
With revenge on her mind, she rushed back to the remnants of her home to retrieve a gun from her safe before taking a neighbor’s car and searching for Amir.
Maddie was shocked to hear Athena asking for his details on the emergency line and alerted Chimney. Everyone was starting to wonder where she had gone because it was out of character not to be by Bobby’s side.

After the heartbreaking events of 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 9, there was no telling what the fallout would be for Eddie and Christopher.
Eddie has made a host of mistakes regarding the Kim situation, and it looks like it is time for him to face the consequences of his actions.
In this clip from 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 10, exclusive to TV Fanatic, Eddie pleads with Buck to help him reach Christopher, as his son has effectively cut him out after witnessing That surreal scene in his home.
Coming home and thinking you’d seen your deceased mother in the flesh embracing your father would be devastating to anyone, and poor Christopher has already endured such loss in his life.
Earlier this season, Christopher had lamented to Buck that he was starting to forget what Shannon’s voice sounded like, and to suddenly be hit with the feeling that she’d come back,...

9-1-1 is no stranger to pain and loss it's the show's whole premise. But when the main characters' lives are on the line, it feels deeply meta. The promo for 9-1-1 Season 7, Episode 10, "All For Down," teased the worst as Bobby's life is on the line following the house fire. New images of the upcoming episode tease a continuation of the sadness that dominated the teaser as the 118 waits with bated breath for Bobby's fate while other hanging arcs take a different direction. The finale will not leave anything unaddressed, from Hen and Karen's family issues to Eddie and Christopher's shocker.

There are cliffhangers, and then there are Cliffhangers.
Something so intense that the word has to be split into two.
9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 9 is left on the kind of cliffhanger that leaves you gobsmacked, jaw on the floor, and unable to think rationally. Because what in the hell did we just witness?
The hour felt like heartbreak after heartbreak, which was quite the departure from how things began when everyone was smiling at a medal ceremony that saw the 118 and all their plus ones having a grand old time.
Chief Simpson, the one who didn't even take Hen seriously, got deep in his politician bag while giving the 118 and Tommy medals for their courage and bravery during the cruise ship rescue, and it was a nice sentiment, even if a bit calculated on his part.
Everyone was happy, enjoying their free buffet, cake, and rare afternoon where they could all be together,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 9 “Ashes, Ashes.”] Firefighter down! Captain down! 9-1-1 is heading into the Season 7 finale with its firefighters in precarious positions, both personally and in terms of life or death! Bobby (Peter Krause) continues to deal with Amir (Malcolm-Jamal Warner), one of the people who was injured (his face still bears the burns) in the fire he accidentally caused that killed his family (and Amir’s wife), showing up, and that takes a fiery turn. Eddie (Ryan Guzman) finally ‘fesses up to Kim (Devin Kelley) that she looks exactly like his dead wife, only for the aftermath of that to leave him floundering to explain to multiple people. And Hen (Aisha Hinds) has a call from earlier this season come back to haunt her in the worst way possible when it comes to her and Karen’s (Tracie Thoms) attempt to adopt Mara. (Unrelated ...

Many characters on 9-1-1 have a past that significantly impacts their relationships and their work as first responders. Bobby's history of alcoholism informs his empathy for others' struggles, and Maddie's experience as a survivor of domestic violence helps her relate to others involved in similar situations. The 9-1-1 writers have always placed importance on the viewers having a better understanding of how their characters' previous experiences have impacted the people they've become. In fact, there have been multiple flashback episodes that dug into these characters' prior lives. These episodes provided the drama's fans with opportunities to dig deeper into the backgrounds of the crew.

There's something to be said for 9-1-1 managing to hit the most absurd comedic beats in one scene and transition directly into the heartfelt the next, and it does not feel quite as unbelievable as it sounds.
9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 5 was an interesting hour, to say the least, with three competing storylines almost fighting for dominance -- some hitting their mark more than others.
This was another heavy character-driven hour, which again, coming off the heels of the three-part extravaganza, felt very earned.
For Hen, 9-1-1 Season 7 has seen her ups and downs (mostly ups), as Interim Captain highlighted, but it hasn't ventured much into her home life.
That changed here as Hen and Karen prepared to bring a newborn into the Wilson household, and you could tell just how joyful and grateful they were as they sat around the Buckley-Han table and perused through hand-me-downs.

[This story contains spoilers from season seven, episode five of 9-1-1, “You Don’t Know Me.”]
A couple of months ago, 9-1-1 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear reached out to actor Lou Ferrigno Jr. — who had guest-starred in three flashback episodes of the second season — about reprising his role as firefighter Tommy Kinard in the seventh season of the hit Fox-turned-abc first-responder drama.
Ferrigno Jr., who says he had nothing but fond memories of working with the writer and producer years ago, was instantly intrigued to learn that Minear was in the early stages of writing a multi-episode arc that would allow viewers to check back in with Tommy in the present. That storyline, as it turns out, would involve Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), the ostensibly straight character who would navigate his newfound attraction to Tommy in the landmark 100th episode, which aired last Thursday.

When 9-1-1 was canceled, our hearts sank.
Luckily, the cancellation came with a caveat: Fox's former flagship series was being picked up by rival network ABC.
It was a stunning decision that came after a booming 9-1-1 Season 6, which saw the series re-embracing many qualities that made it such a success from the onset.
At the time, Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich said:
"Thanks to the creative drive of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, as well as the talented cast, 9-1-1 has been one of the most defining and original dramas on network television over the last six seasons, and we are honored to bring it to the esteemed group of series on ABC."
When the last season wrapped up, all the principal characters were in a solid place, with the 118 even doing some bonding on the roof, memories of their most recent triumphs playing fresh on their minds.

The central joke surrounding Dr. Zoidberg (Billy West) on the sci-fi sitcom "Futurama" was established early on. Set in the early years of the 31st century, "Futurama" features a rogue's gallery of aliens, robots, mutants, and talking severed heads living alongside its relatively recognizable human characters. Zoidberg is a bipedal lobster-like alien who regularly issues drugs and surgically slices into the employees of Planet Express. In some of Zoidberg's first scenes, way back in 1999, he can be heard saying things like "Now open your mouth and let's take a look at that brain" or diagnosing his human patients with strange, fish-sounding diseases like fin fungus. He can sever and reattach limbs without much issue, although he doesn't always put them in the right place.
The gag, of course, is that he's a bad doctor. Being a space alien — specifically a Decapodian — Zoidberg doesn't seem able to grasp the biology of the mammals he works with.

At first, actor and musician Tyler Posey felt "robbed" after his elimination from The Masked Singer season 10. However, Tyler acknowledged the fun nature of the show and changed his mindset. Tyler believes his elimination may have been due to the audience voting for traditional singers rather than overall showmanship.
The Masked Singer season 10's Tyler Posey spent two episodes performing as the energetic Hawk, and he now admits he felt "robbed" after his elimination from the mystery celebrity singing competition series. Warning: Spoilers Ahead For Harry Potter Night Of “The Masked Singer”
Wednesday night marked the end of yet another competitor’s journey on “The Masked Singer” — a lone wolf, if you will. Or rather, a teen wolf.
The singing competition celebrated spooky season with a Harry Potter-themed episode this week, marking the return of Hawk after he beat Royal Hen — later revealed to be Billie Jean King — in a Battle Royale last week. This time around, he performed “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic” by The Police.
Following his performance, Hawk was sorted into Ravenclaw by the sorting hat, and the judges guessed it might be Ryan Phillippe, Andrew Garfield or Billie Joe Armstrong under the mask. In the end though, they were all incorrect.
Because, in the end, Hawk was unmasked to be… “Teen Wolf” star Tyler Posey.
Posey just released a new album called “Unraveled” earlier this year,...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details about the eliminated contestant from Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer.
Elton John was the man of the hour on Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer.
No, the prolific musician didn’t make an appearance (though Jenny McCarthy did mention he was watching). Instead, four contestants paid tribute to John with their song choices. But first, Robin Thicke kicked things off with a rousing rendition of “Tiny Dancer.”
The contestants cycled through John’s hits, like “Bennie and The Jets” and “Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting).” But, none were quite so fitting as Royal Hen’s selection, “Philadelphia Freedom.”
You see, underneath the mask was none other than Billie Jean King, who John penned that song for.
Named after her tennis team, the lyrics of the song are meant to honor John’s admiration for King, after the pair built a strong bond through their philanthropy.

Foe offers a unique take on the failing marriage narrative by incorporating climate change and AI, creating an intimate story that breaks away from typical futuristic elements. The film's visuals are both breathtaking and devastating, capturing the desolate landscape and the rekindling of the couple's relationship amidst the surrounding death. While Foe lacks in the thriller department and the pacing may feel slow at times, it is captivating to watch, thanks to riveting visuals and strong performances from Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal, and Aaron Pierre.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 10, Episode 4 of “The Masked Singer,” “2000s Night,” which aired Oct. 11 on Fox.
Michael Rapaport had never sung in public until “The Masked Singer.” Now, he can’t stop. Rapaport was unmasked on Wednesday as the Pickle, the latest costumed celebrity to go home on the hit Fox unscripted series.
“I was nervous about it. I have never sang publicly before. I am not a singer. I’m not a dancer,” Rapaport told Variety. “But the world soon found out that I have the voice of an angel. My singing and my voice brings tears of joy. And I had a lot of fun doing the show. I came to win. Unfortunately, I didn’t win this season, but you know the impression of the Pickle will live on forever!”
No one guessed Rapaport, who sang Weezer’s “Beverly Hills” this week.

Much can be done and discussed through the craft of cinema, but at the end of the day it's a visual medium above all else. It's always refreshing, then, to see a truly visual work on the silver screen, something that capitalizes on the beauty of the world around us, taking us to parts of Earth that are wholly new to us. Garth Davis' new feature Foe, now in theaters, brings us to the picturesque Australian countryside, with the help of Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette and acclaimed cinematographer Mátyás Erdély.
We recently caught up with Erdély to learn more about the creative process behind visualizing the script and source material, a novel of the same name by Iain Reid (I'm Thinking of Ending Things). Starring Paul Mescal (Aftersun), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird), and Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad), Foe is a dark love story about a disparate couple named...

Seven years after creating his Academy Award-nominated darling Lion, director Garth Davis has brought to life another book with his new sci-fi thriller Foe. Based on the 2018 novel by Iain Reid, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Davis, it tells the story of husband and wife Junior (Paul Mescal) and Henrietta (Saoirse Ronan), aka Hen, whose peaceful life on a farm in the near future is interrupted by a stranger with a huge opportunity that will put their marriage to the test. There's a focus on Junior as an AI version of himself is set to stand in for him during his years-long mission in space, but during an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub, the director expressed that Hen was the true soul of the film.

The year is 2065. Earth is dying. Somewhere in the blighted midwest, our story begins. A squat trapezoidal car pulls up to a house, not too close, but close enough to wake up the man who's been sleeping on the couch, Junior (Paul Mescal), who is on the outs with his wife, Henrietta (Saoirse Ronan) – who goes by Hen, for short. A man appears at the door. With a rifle in hand, Junior wants to know who he is and what he wants. Hen says to let him in.
The film is Foe, directed by Garth Davis, with a script co-written by Davis and the original novel's author, Iain Reid (I'm Thinking of Ending Things). It's a lovely, sensitive, character-driven story with an extravagant setup that more or less mines the same subjects that have been the heart of storytelling since time immemorial. That is until its biggest reveal is that...
