Two Rivers Media has secured a commission from BBC Arts for “The Last Musician of Auschwitz,” a feature documentary set to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The 90-minute film, co-funded by Access, the company behind Cannes, Oscar and BAFTA-winning “The Zone of Interest,” will explore the stories of musicians who created and performed music in the concentration camp during the Holocaust.
Centering on 99-year-old Anita Lasker-Wallfisch, the only living musician from the Auschwitz orchestras, the doc will also highlight four other musicians from across Europe: Adam Kopyciński, Szymon Laks, Martin Rosebery D’Arguto and Ilse Weber. The documentary will feature a newly discovered work by Weber and a premiere recording of a lullaby composed by Kopyciński in Auschwitz.
Alan Clements, managing director of Two Rivers Media, will executive produce alongside Cohen and Emily Blavatnik for Access. Deborah Lee is producing, with Toby Trackman directing.
Abacus Media Rights will handle international distribution.

Access Entertainment, financial backer of 2024 Oscar-winner The Zone of Interest, has turned attention to a BBC doc titled The Last Musician of Auschwitz.
Access’ Danny Cohen and Emily Blavatnik will EP the feature telling the extraordinary story of Anita Lasker-Wallfisch who, along with other victims of Auschwitz, played and created music amidst the terrors of the Holocaust.
The doc, which is being produced by Two Rivers Media, will feature an interview with Lasker-Wallfisch, revealing how, despite living in the most brutal and dehumanizing of situations, prisoners were secretly composing music whilst in the camps.
“This important film tells the story of Auschwitz through the powerful lens of music,” said Cohen. “It will be a moving, surprising and sometimes shocking film – an innovative hybrid of observational documentary, expert interview, archive, highly stylised drama and music.”
Two Rivers boss Alan Clements added: “The access we have gained, not only to Anita and to respective family and friends,...

Former Lantern Group MD Niki White has left the agency after seven years to start her own operation, taking several clients and two members of staff with her.
The move comes after the departure of Lantern Group boss Victoria Buchan who left in January to become director of communications and public relations at Nine Network in January. Buchan retained ownership of Lantern after her departure to Nine, but it appears that it will become a slimmed down operation with Buchan’s daughter Louisa Read running operations, particularly unit publicity on Wolverine. It is to close its Fox Studios office.
White: “Lucky”
White – who was promoted to MD of Lantern in January – has called her new agency Nikstar. Also joining her are former Lantern Group publicist Stella Katsaros and publicity assistant Jessica Long. Senior publicist Susan Hoerlein left Lantern in March for a role at Nixco.

Alicia Florrick, prepare to go toe-to-toe with Louis Canning once again. According to Entertainment Weekly, Michael J. Fox will return to 'The Good Wife' early next year as Canning, the manipulative lawyer who gave Lockhart/Gardner & Bond one heck of a court battle.
"As soon as we saw the dailies of Michael playing Louis Canning, we started pleading with him to return," creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King told EW. "Luckily he agreed. He's amazing in this role: unpretentiously brave and funny. It's good to have him back."
Fox played Canning in 'Poisoned Pill,' the sixth episode of the CBS drama's second season. Look for him in episode 13, competing with Alicia (Julianna Margulies) to reach homeowners for a class-action lawsuit.
