Video Interview with The Unheard Director Jeffrey A. Brown
Image
Watching the cosmic, otherworldly dread unfold in Jeffrey A. Brown's The Beach House was one of my favorite viewing experiences of 2020, so I was thrilled to find out that Brown is back with his next feature-length film, The Unheard.

With the supernatural sci-fi horror film now streaming on Shudder, I caught up with Jeffrey in a new video interview to discuss working with the talented Lachlan Watson, his personal connection to the film's story of hearing loss, and how he brought the film's creepy VHS aesthetic to life on screen. As an added bonus for fans of The Beach House, Jeffrey also talks about what his pitch for The Beach House 2 would have looked like!

You can watch the video interview with Jeffrey below, and in case you missed it, read Cass Clarke's review of The Unheard!

Synopsis: After undergoing an experimental procedure to restore her damaged hearing, 20-year-old...

Eerie Auditory Hallucinations in 'The Unheard' Horror Thriller Trailer
Image
"I think something's wrong with the procedure. I'm hearing things..." Shudder has revealed a trailer for an indie horror film titled The Unheard, the latest creation from the director of The Beach House. It will be streaming on Shudder later this month. Lachlan Watson stars as Chloe, who undergoes an experimental procedure to restore her hearing. She begins to suffer from auditory hallucinations related to the mysterious disappearance of her mother. The director adds: "Our cast and crew have delivered a stunning piece of work and I cannot wait for audiences to take our trip into the strange realms between life & death and silence & noise!" From the writers of the Crawl film. The cast includes Michele Hicks, Nick Sandow, Brendan Meyer, Shunori Ramanathan, and Boyana Balta. This looks unsettling, especially with all the sounds. // Continue Reading ›...

When the Bough Breaks Trailer #2 Unleashes a Psycho Surrogate
Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, and Jaz Sinclair in When the Bough Breaks (2016)
Back in April, Sony Pictures offered a first look at their thriller When the Bough Breaks at CinemaCon with the first trailer. We haven't heard anything about the movie since then, but with the September 16 release date getting closer and closer, the studio has rolled out a second trailer with even more new footage. This could be one of the most chilling thrillers of the year, and it may have couples seeking surrogates reconsidering adoption or other methods of bringing a baby into their lives.

This new trailer, which debuted on Sony Screen Gems' Youtube channel, focuses on John and Laura Taylor (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall), a young, professional couple who desperately want a baby. After exhausting all other options, they finally hire Anna (Jaz Sinclair), the perfect woman to be their surrogate - but as she gets further along in her pregnancy, so too does her psychotic...

First Trailer: "When The Bough Breaks"
Hollywood loves regular patterns, and one it has subscribed to recently is releasing a cost-effective psychological thriller aimed at an African-American audience during the second or third week of September.

The results have proven profitable so far such as with 2014's "No Good Deed" and 2015's "The Perfect Guy". Today, Screen Gems has unveiled the first trailer for this year's film in that slot - "When the Bough Breaks"

Playing like a variation of "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall star as a young, professional couple who hire a surrogate. As said woman gets further along in her pregnancy, her dangerous fixation on the husband increases.

Theo Rossi, Christina Bach, GiGi Erneta, Michelle DeVito, Boyana Balta, Justin Lebrun and Jeff Caperton also star in the film which Jon Cassar directs. It opens September 16th.

'When the Bough Breaks' Trailer Introduces the Surrogate from Hell
Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, and Jaz Sinclair in When the Bough Breaks (2016)
Last night, during Sony Pictures' CinemaCon presentation, the studio unveiled the first footage from their upcoming Screen Gems thriller When the Bough Breaks, arriving in theaters September 16. If you weren't in Las Vegas last night, then you're in luck, because Screen Gems has debuted the first trailer for all to see. This thriller will most likely have eager parents thinking twice about the use of a surrogate to bring them a child.

John and Laura Taylor (Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall) are a young, professional couple who desperately want a baby. After exhausting all other options, they finally hire Anna (Jaz Sinclair), the perfect woman to be their surrogate - but as she gets further along in her pregnancy, so too does her psychotic and dangerous fixation on the husband. The couple becomes caught up in Anna's deadly game and must fight to regain control of their future before it's too late.

Possible Last Exorcism 2 Casting News
Over on the rarely reliable Internet Movie Database, the full cast has been revealed for the R-rated follow-up to the 2010 PG-13 film The Last Exorcism. Given the source, we'll just take this with a grain of salt.

The site reports that Andrew Sensenig, Spencer Treat Clark, Muse Watson, David Jensen, Judd Lormand, Joe Chrest, Julia Garner, Louis Herthum, Tarra Riggs, Ashlynn Ross, Cristina Franco, Raeden Greer, E. Roger Mitchell, and Boyana Balta have all joined Ashley Bell in StudioCanal’s The Beginning of the End: The Last Exorcism II.

The sequel is said to pick up three months after the original left off, but of course further details are being kept under wraps. Production is set in New Orleans, and delivery is expected in late 2012. Ed Gass-Donnelly directs.
