‘Severance’ Has Been Renewed for Season 3: Here’s How to Binge the Entire Series Online for Free
Image
The number crunchers of Lumon will be back. (And no, they did not relocate to New York City.)

Fresh off the season two finale, Severance has been renewed for a third installment at Apple TV+. The dystopian series stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, a widower who undergoes a procedure to be “severed” that renders him unable to access his memories at work and vice versa. He works at the mysterious Lumon Industries with Irving (John Turturro), Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Helly (Britt Lower), and season two picks up after the team led what is referred to as the “Microdat Uprising.”

‘Severance’: Quinta Brunson To Moderate S2 Finale Event For Apple TV+

The second season of Apple TV+’s Severance is coming to an end, but fear not, questions will be asked.

Quinta Brunson is moderating a Q&a about the second season of the drama series. The event, which includes an all-guild screening of the Adam Scott-fronted show, will take place at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on March 22.

Brunson is not directly involved in Severance but is close with Scott, having guest-starred on the revival of Starz’s Party Down that aired in 2023.

Panelists for the event include Ben Stiller, who directs and exec produces the show; creator Dan Erickson; and stars Scott, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Patricia Arquette, Sarah Bock, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Gwendoline Christie.

Deadline is a partner for this event, so check back afterwards for full coverage.

Adam Scott in Severance (2022)
Exclusive: Apple TV+ pulled out all the stops promoting the second season of its sci-fi drama Severance, with even Apple CEO Tim Cook filming an elaborate promo for the series’ return after a three-year break. A month after Severance‘s Jan. 17 Season 2 launch, the tech company, known for closely guarding its viewership data, is raising the curtain just a bit on the series’ performance.

According to the streamer, Severance has broken Apple TV+ records, launching as the platform’s #1 series in history based on number of unique viewers from Jan. 17 through Feb. 17, 2025.

We have the first independent viewership data for Severance‘s performance since the Season 2 premiere too. The series claimed the #4 spot on Nielsen’s Top 10 Originals chart for the week of Jan. 13, which includes the first three days of the Season 2 debut being available on the service. Severance Showrunner Talks About That 'Misdirect' In The Season 2 Premiere [Exclusive]
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Severance" season 2, episode 1, "Hello, Ms. Cobel."

In the opening minutes of the "Severance" season 2 premiere, Mark S. (Adam Scott) walks into Lumon Industries' Macrodata Refinement office and practically skids to a halt: His co-worker friends have been replaced by three new faces. "Who are you people?" Mark asks, mirroring the audience's confusion at seeing Bob Balaban, Alia Shawkat, and Stefano Carannante instead of Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and John Turturro. As we quickly learn, these new folks apparently came from a different Mdr department at another branch, seemingly giving us a glimpse into how expansive Lumon's operations truly are.

Obviously, Mark's not thrilled about this new development. He tries to frame Balaban's character, ends up communicating with the mysterious Board, and angering Milchick before, finally, about 20 minutes into the episode, he reunites with Helly R., Dylan G., and Irving B. at last and the show...

Severance Season 2 Reveals Just How Big Lumon Industries Is
Image
"Severance" season 2 spoilers follow.

The mysteries of Lumon Industries continue in "Severance" season 2, and episode 1 has some interesting clues as to the true scale of the shadowy company. The season premiere takes place entirely inside the office. That means we'll still have to wait to get some answers on what's going on outside of Lumon, but new questions are already emerging.

The company has undergone some changes in the five-plus months since the end of season 1, with plenty of lip service being paid to the quality of life for innies. When Mark (Adam Scott) returns to the office, his former team at Macrodata Refinement (Mdr) has been replaced by three new faces, all brought in from other Lumon branches. This gives a sense of the company's reach, as well as the disparity between branches. The employees compare notes about their old branches' respective Perpetuity Wings, bringing to light how much better-funded certain Lumon areas are.

Severance Season 2 Premiere Recap: Welcome Back to the Office (Grade It!)
Image
After a very long sabbatical, Severance has returned to Apple TV+, and Mark S. seems just as disoriented as we are.

Friday’s season premiere picks up right where we left off with the Season 1 finale, with Mark snapping back to his Innie self right after shouting “She’s alive!” to the outside world. He’s back at work at Lumon, and he sprints down an endless series of corridors like he’s a rat in a maze until he arrives at the wellness center. But it’s cleared out, and Ms. Casey (aka his not-actually-dead wife Gemma) is nowhere to be found.

Severance Season 2 Episode 1 Delivers A Big Twist Right Away
Image
Warning: This article is for true followers of Kier only. If you haven't watched the season 2 premiere of "Severance," beware of spoilers.

Well, we finally know what happens after that fateful "Severance" cliffhanger left us all quite literally on the edge of our seats almost three full years ago ... and the answer is, apparently, nothing? The premiere episode of season 2 (which I reviewed here for /Film) picks up pretty much exactly where we left off, with our favorite innie Mark S. (Adam Scott) awakening right back on Lumon Industries' Severed Floor mere seconds -- in his perspective, at least -- after exclaiming that his outtie's (presumed) dead wife was actually alive. For those in need of a refresher of what went down last time around, Mark led a rebellion against their corporate overlords that resulted in Helly R. (Brit Lower) blowing the whistle in front of several Lumon dignitaries and Irving B.

Review: Severance establishes a creepy new normal in compelling season 2 premiere
Image
The first season of Severance ended with Mark S. (Adam Scott) exploring the world outside the basement of Lumon Industries for the first time. He and the other "Innies" on his team are like kids; everything outside the office is new to them; their "Outies" are the real people and they're the hermetically sealed child slaves. But the Innies have been growing up, questioning their surroundings and pushing the company to treat them better. The first episode of Severance season 2 shows us how the company is pushing back.

The entire episode takes place in the basement of Lumon, so we're robbed of any context. We have no idea if what Mark learns upon his sudden return to the office is true. Mark's supervisor Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) tells him that Mark and his team became famous after making contact with the outside world; we know that in the season 1 finale,...

‘Severance’ Cast Bring Lumon Industries Office To Life In Glass Box At Grand Central Station
Image
As viral marketing stunts go, there’s a somewhat meta feel to cramming the cast of Severance into a glass box at New York City’s Grand Central Station.

Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and Tramell Tillman were among those who brought the Lumon Industries office to life for a crowd of enraptured commuters.

Overseeing it all was Ben Stiller, director of the Apple TV+ series, which is set to return for its second season on January 17.

pic.twitter.com/OD88yqvTlG

— Ben Stiller (@BenStiller) January 15, 2025

Dan Erickson’s drama centers around a surgical procedure that separates the work self from the off-hours self, meaning the Lumon crew were very much on the clock at Grand Central.

Onlookers captured them interacting and throwing paper planes at one another, all under the watchful eye of the Tillman’s menacing Milchick.

In the acclaimed Apple TV+ drama’s Season 1 finale, which was released in April 2022, Lumon wonks Mark S., Helly R., Irving B. and Dylan G. came to realize that by sneakily seizing access to the Overtime Contingency Protocol, they could insert themselves in their “outie” lives. It fell on Dylan to keep the Ocp switch flipped in the security room, while his coworkers took stock of their outside existences.

Ben Stiller Likens ‘Severance’ To Hollywood Today: “Constriction And Choices That Are Safer”
Image
In the way that Lumon Industries is disconnected to its workers on Apple TV+’s Severance, so too is Hollywood perhaps disoriented about its creatives, Ben Stiller posits.

Previewing the highly anticipated and delayed second season of the mystery-box thriller to the New York Times in a recent interview, the executive producer and director likened the lack of control the series’ characters have to a similar floundering facing those in the entertainment industry.

“At a certain point there’s always somebody making a decision who is not making it to your face or you don’t even know who that person is,” Stiller said, referencing the show’s unraveling of a group of workers who have chosen to surgically bifurcate their brains into work (aka innies) and home (outies) selves.

In Severance Season 1, the eerie contentment of a fictional conglomerate — occupied by characters played by Adam Scott, John Turturro and...

Severance Season 2 Review: TV's Trippiest Mind-Bender Is Back And Better Than Ever
Image
I resisted the urge to succumb to hyperbole throughout much of the brilliant debut season of "Severance," in spite of myself. After all, there's no denying the tendency among many in our circles to lob superlatives like "masterpiece" or "best of the year" to the point of meaninglessness. It's easy to happen when we're caught up in the moment, swept away by the hype of a new series and all too eager to toss our hot takes into the ether before anyone else does. Sometimes, those declarations stand the test of time. Other times, uh, they very much don't. Like any good office drone, though, I played by the rules and refused to rock the boat too much the first time around regardless of what my eyes told me ... but I'm not going to make that same mistake again. This time, I'm finally trusting my instincts — something that "Severance" season 2 does as well.

Watch 'Severance' Season 2 Now with Apple TV+ Releasing the First 8 Minutes
Image
For those looking for a funny, twisty, and head-scratching Christmas Eve gift, AppleTV+ has you covered. The streaming service made the first eight minutes of the Severance season premiere available to view, just under a month before it's set to debut the episode in full on January 17, 2025.

The footage shows Mark (Adam Scott) awakening in Lumon Industries and racing through the seemingly empty and endless hallways in search of his friends, Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro), and Dylan (Zach Cherry). When we last saw these characters, they had successfully broken the Innie/Outie barrier and temporarily allowed their work selves to occupy the consciousness of their Outies, thanks to Dylan staying behind and stopping the mind control mechanism.

While experiencing the outside world, Mark learns that his Outie's deceased wife was very much alive and also a former employee of Lumon; Irving finds out that the fellow Lumon employee he loves,...

You can (and should) watch the first 8 minutes of Severance season 2 right now!
Image
The first season of Severance landed on Apple TV+ in 2022, coming out of nowhere to blow everyone's minds with its brain-bending story about office dwellers who couldn't remember anything about their lives from the outside when they were at work, and vice versa. Has the "severance" procedure effectively created a bunch of a new people? If so, what is the company's responsibillty towards them? I can't wait for the second season to dig deeper into those questions.

Season 1 ended with Mark S. (Adam Scott) and some of his fellow severed workers finding a way to explore the outside world. They managed to make contact with folks on the outside, but the managers at Lumon Industries figured out what they were doing and put a stop to it before it could get too far.

What happens next? We'll have to wait until the season 2 premiere on January 17...Or Do We? If you're an Apple TV+ subscriber,...

The innies seek truth in tense ‘Severance’ Season 2 trailer from Apple TV+ [Watch]
Image
“Severance” Season 2 will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of this planet. Over the weekend, Apple TV+ dropped a trailer for the long-awaited new season of its Emmy-winning sci-fi thriller, and if it’s an accurate reflection of what the season holds, it’s going to be a magnificent escalation of the series.

In the trailer, the “innies” of Lumon Industries go back to work after the game-changing events of the Season 1 finale, where they blew the whistle on the cruel conditions the people who have undergone the “severance” process live under inside of Lumon. They’re all trying to figure out what’s really going on inside and outside of Lumon, but “innie” Mark Scout (Adam Scott) has a particular goal: free Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman) from inside of Lumon and return her to “outie” Mark, her husband who thinks she’s dead. Meanwhile, “outie” Mark is...

Severance Season 2 Trailer Sees Adam Scott Returning To Work — And Seeking The Truth
Image
Just when Mark Scout and his Mdr pals thought they were out(ies), Lumon Industries has pulled them back in(nie). That's right, people — after almost three years, a couple of SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike-related production delays, and a recent slew of tantalising teaser trailers, Severance Season 2 is almost here. And as the Adam Scott starring Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller gears up to funk with our work-life balance once again, the streamer has just dropped a noodle-twisting, intrigue filled new trailer for the series ahead. If you thought Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, then it looks like we'll be right back on that cliff, still hanging, when S2 begins. Check out the trailer below:

As you will no doubt recall (though *Spoiler Warning* just in case), the first season of Severance climaxed with Mark (Scott) and his Macro-Data Refinement division colleagues — Dylan (Zach Cherry), Helly (Britt Lower), and Irving (John Turturro...

‘Severance’ Season 2 Trailer: Mark Looks for Ms. Casey and the Innies Go on a Nature Retreat
Image
Mark Scout’s two worlds start to collide in the trailer for “Severance” Season 2, which shows the Lumon employee searching for his dead wife — who, of course, is not actually dead.

“My outie’s wife died a few years ago. Except, the woman is Ms. Casey,” Mark (Adam Scott) tells his co-workers as they compare their brief experiences in the outside world. “We gotta get her out of here.”

Season 2 finds Mark, Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry) and Irving (John Turturro) returning to Lumon after the so-called Overtime Contingency Protocol awakens their in-office selves outside of work. At the end of Season 1, Dylan learned he had a child, Irving suffered heartbreak after seeing Burt (Christopher Walken) is married, Helly discovered she is the daughter of Lumon’s CEO and Mark figured out his wife is alive — somewhere inside the office.

Mark, Helly, Dylan and Irving have become celebrities of...

Severance EPs Hint That ‘Things Get Darker’ for Mark and Company in Season 2: ‘The Fallout Is Dire’

But it's been a bumpy road for the breakout hit, with reports pointing to conflict between Erickson and co-showrunner Mark Friedman. The streamer has disputed those reports, maintaining that the series has remained on schedule.

Speaking with Vanity Fair to preview the upcoming season, Erickson and Stiller had the opportunity to elaborate on Severance's long delay. Erickson noted that Severance is a “very intricate show,” detailing what makes it unique and how the team strived to create something that was perfect. Stiller, who directed episodes of season 1, alongside Aoife McArdle, talked about how the Hollywood strikes of 2023 impacted the thriller's plans. Their quotes are below:

Erickson: On a practical level,...

Severance Season 2: All Fans Need to Hear What Patricia Arquette Really Thinks about Harmony
Image
Apple TV+ brought a new sci-fi psychological thriller show, Severance in 2022 which became a smash hit. The show featured a fictional corporation Lumon Industries where an employee Mark Scout (portrayed by Adam Scott) undergoes a shady memory transition.

The dystopian series created by Dan Erickson gained popularity because of its peculiar plot and stellar cast which included Patricia Arquette. Among news of the show’s new season fans should look at what The Act actress revealed earlier about her character. Harmony Cobel is a hard character to portray and Arquette thinks so too.

A character full of mysteries: The Unlikable one

Severance explored the experiences of Mark Scout as he tried to unravel the dark truth about his company, Lumon Industries. The character agreed to a sketchy severance program where his work memories were separated from his non-work ones in a horrifyingly permanent procedure.

At long last, watch the official trailer for Severance season 2!
Zach Cherry
It's been well over two years since we last checked in on Mark (Adam Scott), Dylan (Zach Cherry), Irving (John Turturro), and Helly (Britt Lower), four "severed" workers toiling away in the basements of Lumen Industries, doing they know not what. For reasons we have yet to fully understand, the foursome underwent a procedure that made it so they remember nothing of their outside lives while at work, and vice versa. They've basically been split into two people: their work selves and their home selves, and their work selves have gotten pretty freaking tired of devoting the whole of their existance to labor.

The first season ended with a thrilling cliffhanger where the work personalities escaped into the real world, if only briefly. What happens next? Well, in the trailer, Mark S. finds himself back in the bowels of Lumen, racing through the eerily samey hallways until he bursts back...

Image
Welcome back to Lumon.

After nearly three years, “Severance” is back with the first trailer for its highly anticipated Season 2, debuting on Apple TV+ on Jan. 17.

In the trailer, Adam Scott’s Mark S. returns to the office after exposing his “innie” to the outside world and learning that his wife (who he thought died in a car accident) is actually alive, and working at Lumon as the wellness counselor Ms. Casey.

After frantically dashing down those stark-white hallways, Mark enters his workspace to find three unfamiliar Lumon employees — sitting in the desks formerly occupied by Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry). His delightfully creepy manager Milchick (Tramell Tillman) welcomes him back to the office with balloons adorned with Mark’s face.

“Severance” follows a group of employees at a mysterious corporation whose work lives and home lives have been “severed” via an experimental procedure. The...

‘Severance’ Returns To Production After Months-Long Strike Delay
Image
Severance is “Back to work.” Director and executive producer Ben Stiller took to Instagram this morning to confirm that the Apple TV+ drama series had returned to production after a months-long delay due to the Hollywood strikes.

Stiller’s Instagram post, captioned “Back to work,” features a black-and-white photo of star Adam Scott running through what appears to be a hallway at Lumon Industries.

Severance had paused production on Season 2 in May when the WGA went on strike, which was then followed by the SAG-AFTRA walkout. With both strikes long resolved, production is now back on course.

From creator and writer Dan Erickson and Stiller, Severance stars Scott as Mark Scout, who leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. "Severance" Season 2 Joins the List of Shows Interrupted by the Writers' Strike
Image
"Severance" season two seems to have hit another snag. Production on the show's next installment has screeched to a halt in New York amid the ongoing writers' strike, Deadline reported on May 8.

Just a few days earlier, star Zach Cherry had confirmed that filming was in progress and said "things have been going good" in a May 4 interview with Entertainment Tonight. While Cherry didn't give away much information at the time, he said that when reading the second season's script, "My reaction was the same as my reaction was to the first script in season one, which is, 'This is good!'"

"Severance" season two may have already experienced some setbacks, as in late April, Puck News reported that it had been delayed partly due to animosity between showrunners Dan Erickson and Mark Friedman. However, Ben Stiller, an executive producer and director of season one, responded to the reports with...

‘Severance’: Production On Apple Series Shuts Down In New York
Image
Severance is the latest series to be shut down as a result of strike picketing.

The Apple TV+ drama series has had production on its second season paused in New York as a result of the writers strike.

WGA members picketed York Studios in New York with members of IATSE and the Teamsters refused to cross the picket line.

It comes on the first day of the second week of the writers strike.

It marks the second major Apple series to be shut down as a result of the labor action after Maya Rudolph series Loot halted filming last week in LA.

Other series such as Netflix’s Stranger Things, HBO Max’s Hacks, Showtime’s Billions and Starz’ The Venery of Samantha Bird have all seen production shut down.

Severance stars Adam Scott and comes from creator and writer Dan Erickson and director and executive producer Ben Stiller.

Severance Star Reveals The Craziest Fan Theory He's Heard So Far
Image
Severance actor Zach Cherry reveals the wildest fan theory he's heard about the hit Apple TV+ mystery show so far. Released earlier last year, Severance tells the story of a group of employees at Lumon Industries whose memories have been surgically divided between their work and their personal lives. Adam Scott stars as Mark Scout, the manager of the Macrodata Refinement department, which includes Cherry's Dylan, John Turturro's Irving, and Britt Lower's Helly, a group of employees who sort endless pages of numbers. After earning rave reviews upon its release last year, Apple renewed creator Dan Erickson's hit show for season 2.

Although season 1 answered a few questions, many still remain, which has led to some pretty crazy Severance fan theories about what exactly is going on at Lumon Industries. In a recent interview with Av Club, Cherry reveals that the craziest fan theory he's ever heard about...
