Just revealed at the To Your Eternity panel at Anime NYC, a new documentary titled The Roots of To Your Eternity will debut on Crunchyroll worldwide, excluding Japan, on August 29, taking a look at the series’ creation before the third season premieres in October 2025. The documentary will feature interviews from the original manga author Yoshitoki Oima, Season 2 Director and Season 3 Chief Director Kiyoko Sayama and more, with The Beholder voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda narrating. According to recent reports, it has not been mentioned anywhere that Sekiro: No Defeat, the anime adaptation of the Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice game, will come to Netflix. Being a highly ambitious project under direct collaboration with Crunchyroll, the series is set to be exclusive to Crunchyroll; however, other streaming sites may be added to the list in the future.

From the trailer alone, the adaptation looks exceptionally promising with some industry big-shots like Kadokawa, Crunchyroll, Qzil.la, and Arch partnering up to bring this project to life.

The hit 2019 video game “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” is being adapted as an animated series set to stream in most worldwide markets on Crunchyroll.

“Sekiro: No Defeat” will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll worldwide excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus. It’s set to land on the streamer in 2026. The adaptation was unveiled Tuesday during the opening night of Gamescom 2025, held in Cologne, Germany Aug. 20-24.

While full details about “Sekiro: No Defeat” aren’t yet known, the series will feature hand-drawn animation with an anime dream team behind the scenes. This includes Kenichi Kutsuna as director, Takuya Satou as screenwriter, Takahiro Kishida as character designer, Shunsuke Fukui as deputy director, Kaito Moki as animation director, Takashi Mukoda as action animation director, art direction by Yuji Kaneko, color design by Azusa Sasaki, and cinematography by Keisuke Nozawa. The man has entertained audiences around the world with his amazing performances, and has been working in the industry for 30 long years. On June 8, 2025, however, when everyone least expected it, the anime community was met with bittersweet news. Mamoru Miyano, the renowned voice actor, announced his departure from his agency, the Himawari Theatre Group.

This announcement coincided with the 42nd birthday of the Death Note voice actor, and as mentioned earlier, marked the end of a remarkable 30-year journey with the agency. The official website of To Your Eternity anime unveiled the first promotional video for its third season on May 29, 2025.

The video previews Fushi awakening from a long slumber and experiencing a brief moment of peace in a tranquil world. However, the video also hints at new encounters, trials, and inevitable battles to come.

Sota Yokote will serve as the director for season 3, while Kiyoko Sayama, who directed the second season, will return as chief director.

Drive will once again handle animation production, this time joined by Studio Massket.

Returning staff includes Shinzo Fujita, who will oversee the series script, character designer Koji Yabuno, music composer Ryo Kawasaki, and sound director Takeshi Takadera.

Jujutsu Kaisen never hesitates to deliver gut-wrenching moments, with characters meeting their end in some of the most brutal, emotionally charged arcs. The show’s fans have also witnessed beloved heroes fall one after another, with their deaths not just shocking but sometimes outright devastating.

And nowhere was this more evident than in the Shibuya Incident arc, a turning point in the series where multiple major characters lost their lives, leaving viewers reeling.

An interesting combination of creative forces, born from the collaboration between the USA, Korea, and Japan, is the origin of a noteworthy and engaging product like “Ninja Kamui.” Sung Hoo Park (“Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1” and “The God of High School”), besides being the skilled director of the series, is also the founder of E&h Productions, which remains the animation studio primarily involved in the production of the series. For many years, the entertainment industry has been haunted by the curse of Live-action adaptations of popular anime franchises as they have been unable to produce a successful movie or series. Be it Cowboy Bebop or Dragonball Evolution, the curse has affected every project that has tried to bring the varied anime universe to life.

However, that has not always been the case. There have been some adaptations that have managed to break the curse and defied the stereotype by bringing an intriguing touch to the world of live-action. These adaptations exceeded expectations, and while they might not be as marvelous as the anime, they still were good enough to be profitable.

Out of the many attempts by the industry to create a promising live-action adaptation, only five of them were able to defy the anime live-action curse and set the stage for others.

The anime adaptation of Uoto’s Chi: Chikyū no Undō ni Tsuite (Orb: On the Movements of the Earth) has some exciting updates. The show recently announced that Shōya Ishige will join the cast as Albert Brudzewski, a young baker who lost his passion for learning after a traumatic event. He’ll first appear in episode 23, which airs on Saturday.

The anime began airing on October 5 on Nhk General, with the first two episodes releasing together. It will have 25 episodes in total, airing over two seasons. The episodes are also available for streaming on Netflix and Abema after their TV broadcast.

The show features a talented voice cast, including Maaya Sakamoto as Rafal, Kenjirō Tsuda as Novak, Shō Hayami as Hubert, and several others. Kenichi Shimizu is directing the series, with Shingo Irie handling the scripts and Masanori Shino designing the characters.

Not all anime need more than twelve episodes to tell a story. Some, despite their short length, manage to portray beautiful stories of any genre with limited episode counts. These anime prove that it's not the number of episodes that matters, but rather the quality of these episodes.

Nearly all anime genres have at least a few series where there are only twelve episodes. Even so, the series' characters can still experience layered growth and development, while the plot naturally progresses and culminates in a satisfying ending. A popular magazine in Japan recently announced the results of the bi-annual "National Treasure Level-Handsome Men" survey. Takeo Otsuka, who voices Aquamarine from Oshi no Ko and Jinshi from The Apothecary Diaries, has officially earned the title of Japan's most handsome voice actor for the latter half of 2024.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is still an extremely popular anime and manga series that fans refuse to flush. Now, the steaming hot second season of the anime is on the way, and subscribers to one streaming service won't have to wait much longer.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Season 2 is coming in the middle of January 2025, and the show's subbed version will be available to watch on Hulu the day afterward. This gives fans time to catch up and watch the first season for the first time or all over again. This comes long after said first season and two "seasons" of a comical spinoff show, giving viewers a lot of content to "wipe" away before Season 2 drops.

Known as Araiguma Rascal in Japan, classic 1977 anime Rascal the Raccoon has announced that the series will receive an official spin-off anime in 2025, and the main staff, the main cast, a teaser trailer and a teaser image (below) have been revealed for the series. With both Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man being the premier battle anime of the past few years, it is inevitable that comparisons will be drawn between the two. With both series being animated by the legendary studio, Mappa, and voiced by an all-star cast of VAs that include Kenjiro Tsuda, Yuichi Nakamura, and Tomori Kusunoki, both are neck-and-neck in terms of production value and overall quality.
