We live in a world that believes live-action adaptations are necessary for every animated series. More and more adaptations are coming up, despite how impossible it is to bring them to life.
I never thought any director would try to take on making The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. into live-action, but I was very wrong. In 2017, Yuichi Fukuda took on the challenge and made a movie out of it, with Kento Yamazaki as the titular protagonist. He’s an actor known for playing manga characters in live-action, but did he do justice to Saiki?
That isn’t all. Saiki K is most prominently known for its vibrant world where people have different hair colors, and the ridiculous and chaotic comedy. Did the live-action movie nail any aspect?
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. live-action movie has a few highs, but too many lows
I might be biased when talking...

One of the best superhero movies of the year is finally headed to a streaming home. Before James Gunn's Superman hits theaters this July, one of the best recent Batman movies is set to start streaming very soon and could give fans a superhero fix while they wait.
Currently, all eyes are on the arrival of Gunn's Superman, but fans also have an eye on the upcoming appointment of a new Dark Knight. However, that still seems to be some way off, so perhaps the time is just right for fans to double down on the DC action with a Japanese anime film that features The Dark Knight up against the Justice League, and has been wowing critics. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. is one of the funniest anime series to exist, with dry and witty humor that cannot be replicated and is only rivaled by the likes of Gintama and Grand Blue. Despite how ridiculous Saiki K gets, you also become invested in the characters and the plot.
The credit goes to the voice actors who make Saiki K so brilliantly funny. From the protagonist’s deadpan delivery to Nendo’s stupidity, it’s all owed to their talent, and even the English voice actors do an amazing job. However, the second and third seasons did not receive dubs, and the replacements in Reawakened didn’t hit the mark.
While the original Japanese voice actors reprised their roles, the quality of the English dubbed version noticeably dropped. It didn’t carry the tone and humor of the Japanese version and the previous voice actors. It ruined...

There is no doubt that Shinichiro Watanebe’s upcoming Lazarus anime is one of the most anticipated Spring 2025 debuts, possibly the biggest one among the list (excluding returning shows). And while the production suffered a large hiatus, we now know that the anime is premiering on April 6, 2025 and to hype us up even more, the opening video for the anime has just been released.

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, a sequel to the 2018 cult hit Batman Ninja, is a film that revels in its own absurdity while delivering a heartfelt tribute to both anime conventions and the DC Universe. Directed by Junpei Mizusaki and Shinji Takagi, with a screenplay by Kazuki Nakashima, this animated superhero romp picks up a day after the events of Batman Ninja, plunging Batman and his allies into a multiversal mash-up that’s equal parts thrilling, ridiculously gorgeous and surprisingly poignant. This new film doubles down on the over-the-top nonsense of the original, offering a wild ride that’s as much a love letter to Japanese culture as it is a playful riff on the superhero genre.

Who ends up who is perhaps the most important question anime fans ask, possibly only second to "who would win?’ The romance genre is one of the most loved, and even though when the show is not exclusively romantic, fans are always interested in the dynamics between different characters. Sometimes, the audience is treated to obvious couple formations between the protagonists, but fans have limitless imaginations when it comes to shipping.
It just so happens that some anime couples don’t get their due share in the limelight because they haven’t been exclusively written into the storyline in that manner. However, usually, when the chemistry between some characters is off the charts or unexpected, it forces the viewers to make sense of that relationship. Whether they are canon or not, the audience has more than a few surprising anime ships that work far better than the original pair.

Anyone who’s watched a lot of action anime will know that they’re often nothing without their villains. As the driving force of a plot more often than not, the villains are typically the characters who get the most screen time and development after the heroes, and that leads to them being just as fun to watch as the heroes, if not more.
More than their likability, of course, what often sells a great anime villain is their power. A good villain will always be one that can challenge the heroes physically, mentally, or some combination of the two, and more often than not, the best anime villains will be the ones that make the heroes work as hard as possible before finally achieving victory in their hard-fought battles. That’s the biggest characteristic to expect out of a “final boss” in an anime, and there are a few...

Leaks circulating on social media claim that an anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run is currently in production.
First significant leaks came earlier this year in August, claiming that trademarks for the anime were registered in Japan as early as June 2022, with further registrations for a TV anime production filed in China in April 2024.
The latest round of leaks which came on Dec 12, 2024, suggest that the production phase for Steel Ball Run began in August 2024, with David Production, the studio behind previous JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure adaptations, reportedly handling the animation.
No release date or official confirmation has been announced, but speculation points to a potential release no earlier than 2026.
The timing of the leaks has led to speculation about their origin, with some saying that the information could stem from Jojo Magazine or related December content.

No shonen anime would be complete without its villains. Shonen villains are some of the most iconic characters that fans love to hate. Most shonen villains are lauded for how their diabolical schemes move the plot, or their relevance to the main hero’s story. Unfortunately, some shonen villains take their craft a little too far.
The most egregious shonen villains commit crimes that are so evil or despicable that their actions haunt audiences. These evildoers go from being antagonists to some of the most heinous beings in anime. Their deeds outlast their shows as these unforgettably dark miasmas. Shonen villains are certainly interesting characters, but these villains took things too far.

For most, the world of anime and manga is dominated by shonen series, typically action-focused storyies aimed primarily at a young male demographic (famed hits like Dragon Ball Z and even Death Note included). However, there are also anime and manga aimed at an older demographic, and that category is known as seinen.
So, what is seinen? "Seinen" is media aimed at older males in their late teens and 20s. In general, these series tend to star older protagonists, feature more explicit content, and deal with darker subject matter (though not all have to). While that male audience is the only real requirement to be seinen, the series can be enjoyed by anyone, and contains the variety to do exactly that. Below are ten of the absolute best seinen series available, offering great entry points into this diverse and underappreciated genre.

For over a decade now, no genre, for better or worse, has dominated anime quite like the isekai genre. While it had always existed in some form, isekai didnt start being recognized as its own thing until the 2010s, and thanks in large part to the escapist elements of the genre, its become a mainstay of the medium with dozens of new anime produced every year.
As isekai began growing in popularity, it also started becoming contentious among fans and critics because of how so many stories come across as different takes on escapist power fantasies revolving around uninteresting leads and their rapidly growing harems of girls. That being said, there are plenty of isekai anime that break away from those cliches, and because of that, plenty of great isekai anime have heroes who come off as being far cooler and more entertaining than the average isekai anime protagonist. Fans of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya have wanted an anime revival for over a decade, and theres more hope for one than ever. The Eminence in Shadow is a hilarious isekai series about a character who finally gets his wish fulfilled. While most isekai protagonists go to their new world confused, upset, and missing home, Shadow couldn't have been happier. He's finally able to be the titular Eminence in Shadow himself, leading a covert group of warriors to do his mysterious bidding. It's a hilarious show and one of the funniest isekai series around, and it also features incredible fights and top-tier action sequences that make the show a must-watch.
To be a good isekai series like The Eminence in Shadow, there are a few key traits a show needs to have. It needs to have either a ridiculously powerful main character, a hilarious cast of side characters, or just general themes of hilarity. Not many shows can compare to The Eminence in Shadow, especially when they're narrowed down to just isekai, but...

An attribute of anime that people tend to recognize, even if they are not the most persistent fans of the genre, is the aesthetic and fashion that it brings to the table. Anime is notorious for the multiple types of clothing and design choices that have been popularized due to several series, and said outfits certainly deserve their place in the spotlight.
There are many bits of fashion and iconic outfits worn in anime that are extremely unique, from the costumes in My Hero Academia to the utterly eccentric and unconventional pieces featured in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. In addition, outfits in popular shows such as Naruto or Dragon Ball are easily recognized, even by a mainstream audience who may not watch anime all too often.

Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League is one of the most random iterations of the DC heroes and the absurdity of it doesn’t stop at the concept. In the most recent trailer for Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League, a lot of concerning details made fans feel more concerned about the upcoming movie than excited. The first movie of the series, Batman Ninja, didn’t do very well for itself by no surprise and Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League seems to be even less promising. It seems the team behind it has taken up more than they can handle.
