Despite receiving backlash, Kenedi Anderson remains steadfast in her decision to serve a full-time mission, undeterred by hate. Kenedi uses her platform to address death threats with a song, emphasizing that the negativity will not deter her from her beliefs. Fans may disagree with Kenedi's choices, but sending death threats crosses a line that could lead to repercussions in the future.

Kenedi entered the national scene via American Idol season 20, when she was given one of three platinum tickets. At only 17, she was considered to be one of the leading contenders to achieve the coveted prize of being an American Idol winner. ‘American Idol’ Contestant Kenedi Anderson Joining Mormon Mission After Quitting Show
Image
American Idol singer Kenedi Anderson has revealed a big change in her life two years after she sensationally quit the show. She has announced in a TikTok video that she will be heading off on a Mormon mission trip. Over the course of the video, she reads aloud from her mission letter, accompanied by her brothers Jackson and Jayce Anderson. “Dear Sister Anderson, you are hereby called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” Anderson says. “You have been recommended as one worthy to represent the Lord as a minister of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.” “Don’t read it ahead,” she interrupts herself, as her brother looks over her shoulder. The letter outlines the purpose of her mission: to lead others to Jesus Christ and to restore the gospel while serving with her “whole heart, mind, and strength.” She screams in...

‘American Idol’: Abi Carter becomes first Platinum Ticket recipient to win it all (how did others fare?)
Image
Abi Carter, the 21-year-old musician from Indio, California became the 22nd winner of “American Idol” on Sunday night. She defeated Will Moseley and Jack Blocker in the season finale as judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie proudly looked on.

Abi made a bit of history, becoming the first Platinum Ticket recipient to win the competition since the judges started handing them out in Season 20. Singers who show a little “something special” in their auditions are given Platinum Tickets that allow them to skip the first round of Hollywood Week. The other Platinum Ticket holders in 2024 were Julia Gagnon, who placed in the Top 7 and Odell Bunton Jr., who finished in the Top 20.

In Season 20 the recipients were HunterGirl, Kenedi Anderson and Jay. That year the judges forecast one finalist in HunterGirl, who went on to become the runner-up to Noah Thompson. After her Top 24 performance of “Human,” Kenedi...

Image
American Idol season 22 contestant Liliana Tovar Dalton withdrew from the competition before Hollywood Week. In an Instagram post, Liliana told fans that she had lots of exciting news coming up for those who continued to follow her music career. Despite leaving the competition early, Liliana's talent and potential in the music industry are undeniable.

American Idol season 22 contestant Liliana Tovar Dalton has announced that she withdrew from the reality singing competition before Hollywood Week. The 17-year-old high school student from San Antonio, Texas, sang an original song titled "5%" and played the piano. She said that she was in her Taylor Swift era. The judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, wanted to see more of her range, so she also sang "Someone Like You" by Adele. All three of them gave her votes of yes, and she received a golden ticket to Hollywood. However, Liliana has now self-eliminated from...

‘American Idol’ poll: Will Odell Bunton Jr., Abi Carter or Julia Gagnon survive the Platinum Ticket curse? [Vote]
Image
In 2022 “American Idol” introduced fans to the Platinum Ticket, an upgraded form of the golden ticket that allows the season’s most promising contestants to skip the first round of Hollywood Week after giving a stellar audition. It may sound like judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie favor those contestants, but how big of an advantage is the Platinum Ticket?

In Season 20 the recipients were HunterGirl, Kenedi Anderson and Jay. In this case the judges forecast one finalist in HunterGirl, who went on to become the runner-up to Noah Thompson. After her Top 24 performance of “Human,” Kenedi withdrew from the competition for personal reasons. Later that season Jay finished in the Top 7, but was eliminated after well-received performances of “I Have Nothing” and “A Song for Mama.”

10 Things American Idol Season 22 Could Do To Improve
Image
American Idol season 21 had some of the best talent in the show's history, but the reality singing competition could improve a few things as it enters its 22nd season. American Idol season 21 ended with Iam Tongi being crowned the winner, Megan Danielle as the runner-up, and Colin Stough placing third. The judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, did an incredible job of finding and nurturing some of the best talent in America to create the superstars of tomorrow.

American Idol season 21 featured awesome theme nights and guest mentors. They included season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert on Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night, Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran during the Top 8 competition, Sofia Carson on Disney Night, and former judge Keith Urban on finale night. Longtime host Ryan Seacrest kept everything running smoothly, especially on the long, three-hour episodes. Although American Idol season 21 was a delight to watch, there...

American Idol Contestants Keep Quitting Before Elimination, Here's Why
Image
For over two decades, American Idol has been a platform for aspiring singers to showcase their talent to the world and potentially launch their music careers. From Kelly Clarkson to Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert, the show has plucked several highly talented entertainers from obscurity, granting them a once-in-a-lifetime shot at international acclaim.

With such high stakes, it seems almost inconceivable that a contestant would think of leaving the show before getting eliminated. However, being on American Idol might not be all it's cracked up to be, as multiple contestants, including season 20 fan-favorite, Kenedi Anderson, have opted out of the competition over the years. Here’s a run-down of some former contestants who quit American Idol before elimination, and the reasons they gave for leaving.

4 Reasons Why American Idol Should Do Away With Platinum Tickets
Image
American Idol introduced platinum tickets to honor season 20, but the coveted prizes seem to be causing more problems than they're worth. The American Idol judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, give one talented recipient in each audition city the platinum ticket to indicate that they see a lot of potential in the contestant. It also gives each winner the privilege of skipping the first round of Hollywood Week. In season 20, they also had the advantage of choosing their duet partners during the second round. However, in season 21, everyone chose their own partners.

During American Idol season 20, HunterGirl, Jay Copeland, and Kenedi Anderson were given the platinum tickets. Kenedi withdrew from the competition for undisclosed reasons before the semifinals, while Jay placed in the Top 7. HunterGirl was the runner-up to winner Noah Thompson. In American Idol season 21, Tyson Venegas, Kaylin Hedges, and Cam Amen received platinum tickets, but the...

Inside Kenedi Andersons' Reunion With American Idol's Paige & Emyrson
Image
Although none of the three contestants won American Idol, Kenedi Anderson, Emyrson Flora, and Paige Fish are still close friends as they had their own small reunion. Anderson's exit from season 20 was one of the most surprising occurrences throughout the entire season because she was one of the front-runners predicted to win and was even the first contestant awarded one of three platinum tickets during her audition. Flora was another standout performer, a 16-year-old high school student from Cleveland, Ohio. The youngest Top 10 finalist impressed fans and judges with her incredible rendition of hit songs like "Angels Like You" by Miley Cyrus and "Lovely" by Billie Eilish ft. Khalid before her eventual elimination. Meanwhile, Paige Fish was eliminated during the Showstopper Round, and fans of the series never got to witness her performing.

Kenedi, Emyrson, and Paige met each other as contestants during American Idol season 20. Although their journey in the series took different turns,...

“American Idol” auditions continued with the second episode of Season 20 on Sunday, March 6.
