Biography

    • LANRE IDEWU is an Actor, Producer, Writer, and Social Entrepreneur. Equal parts creative, entrepreneurial and intuitive, his passion lies in projects that impact the world in a positive way.

As an actor, he currently has a series regular role on both seasons of AMC Network ALLBLK's "Hush," recurring roles on all three seasons of Max (formerly HBOMax)'s "South Side" and both seasons of AMC/Hulu's "Sherman's Showcase," executive produced by John Legend. Lanre is also the romantic lead in the dating suspense thriller "The Match" starring Brittany S. Hall and appears in "Kold x Windy" a gritty crime drama, both on AMC/ALLBLK. His role as Dr. Hess in "A Kill for a Kill" has garnered immense praise as "one of the best movies on Tubi."

After years of creative producing, punching up scripts and ghostwriting, Lanre wrote "Christmas with a Kiss" for Hallmark and Netflix this past holiday season and has 3 additional romantic comedy scripts and an Afrobeats musical in development.

Lanre recently produced the web series "Dream House" which featured 6 up-and-coming DGA directors with Creator/Show Runner Karimah Westbrook (Warner Bros' "All American"), HBCU documentary "Miles College" for AppleTV. He produced and starred in "The Invisible Ones," a short narrative film addressing the Homelessness Crisis that secured a rare distribution deal through AMC after a successful film festival run. As a producer, he is currently in production on "Ali 1978: The Butterfly's Last Dance," one of only 3 scripted features on Muhammad Ali. Lanre has also produced many other projects including Cannes favorite "New Growth," "The Brass Teapot" starring BAFTA-award winning Juno Temple and "Bite Size," a documentary about the child obesity epidemic.

Lanre is the former Chief Operating Officer of Queen Nefertari Productions (QNP), a feature film & TV production company backed by a $30 million film fund. There, he was responsible for growing the company's revenue, visibility and shifting the business model from equity to mezzanine financing. Under his leadership, QNP had the dubious distinction of releasing 3 films in 30 days and launched the Film Finance and Packaging division of The Gersh Agency.

Lanre was named a 'Future Media Maven' by Variety Magazine and has worked on numerous films & TV projects for NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, Showtime, AMC, HBO, Comedy Central, BET, E! Entertainment Television, CW, TF1, ZDF, iTunes, Netflix, Magnolia Pictures and more. He has served on the Advisory Board of The American Black Film Festival, as Vice-Chair of the Advisory Board for The Geffen Playhouse, a mentor for the NFL Player Association's Pro Hollywood and is a founding member of the Catalyst Board for The Sundance Film Festival.

Outside of Entertainment, Lanre founded the Health & Wellness Company FIT4LA and was the Ambassador to Africa for Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, which afforded him the opportunity to travel the world to meet with dignitaries, world leaders and global change makers. Lanre dedicates his free time to helping solve Homelessness, Social Injustice and Child Trafficking.
