Biography

    • Edin Osmic, known as Edo Maajka is a Bosnian Hip Hop star. He was featured in 2 documentaries about him and guest stared in 1 movie and numerous commercials.

In 1992, he escaped Bosnia due to the outbreak of war there, and went to Zagreb, where he is currently living. After the war, he returned to Bosnia, specifically Tuzla and became a member of the local band there, later known as Defence.

In 1999, dj Soul and Erol established the first hip hop radio show in Bosnia called Fmjam and around the 10th show, Edo was introduced to them, where he became part of the Fmjam crew. So Edo Maajka, along with Frenkie, Hza, Munja (vocalist for Defence) and dj Soul established the hip hop group Disciplinska Komisija (The Disciplinary Commission). He managed to record a few songs with Defence until 2000.

During that time, he was attending college in Tuzla with a major in Criminal Law, but due to financial difficulties, he quit college and went to Zagreb where he, with the help of producer Shot, recorded his first solo demo songs ''Minimalni Rizik'' and ''Mahir i Alma'', which became hits on the Zagreb demo scene with the help of dj Phat Phillie and dj FRX and their radio show 101 Demo Blackout.

Edo received a few offers from record companies and decides to sign with Menart, which he is part of to this day. His first album ''Slusaj mater'' (Listen to your ''Mother'', which is a play on word in his name Maajka, which means mother, as a sign of respect) became a commercial and critical hit. He received numerous awards including artists of the year, album for the year and single of the year, of which album for the year was the first time a hip hop album received that award, thus establishing his dominance as the best hip hop star in that region, which include Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Macedonia. Because of his success he became very sought after for interviews, tv series and other endorsements.

He followed his success with his second alum ''No Sikiriki'' (No Worries) in 2004, which also was a huge success. After the album was released, in 2005 he toured the United States, first time a hip hop start to do so.

In 2006 he released his third album '''Stig'o cumur'' (The Cola has Arrived). After which he was featured in a documentary ''Sevdah o Rodama'' (Story about Storks)in the production of HTV, released in 2007.

In 2008 his highly anticipated fourth album was released entitled ''Balkansko a Nase'' (Balkan but Ours). The album was praised for a retro sound of hip hop from the 1990's.

After that he toured while assembling a band, later known as Trnokop. In 2010, Edo released a compilation album entitled ''Spomen ploca 2002-2009'', which featured music from his band over lyrics of his songs from his previous albums.

In November 2011, Edo announced that his 5th studio album will be released in march 2012. Two singles have already been released, the first one ''Imas li ti sta para'' (Do you have any money) and ''Panika'' (Panica) along with music video.
