Cancer Sun, Leo Rising and a Pisces Moon, Shawn Smith is a visual artist and a rare native Angelino and current resident of Downtown Los Angeles since 1990. From being a model agent, photographer, photo-film-event location entrepreneur, property manager to being a Realtor with Compass and small shop owner. Shawn likes to wear many hats.
Shawn first started working in the Los Angeles modeling industry as a new faces model agent. He has been a self-employed Fashion photographer for the past 15 years. In 2010 he created and managed a very popular photo, film and event location named SNOWstudios in DTLA. While at his studio, Shawn hosted such clients as Beats By Dre, Playboy, Italian Vogue, Skrillex, Haim, Puma, Revolve Clothing, Sony, Coca-Cola, Logo, Oxygen and VH1.
In 2019 and 2020, Shawn was elected as an At-Large representative for DLANC, the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council. Shawn believes in giving back and being of service to his different communities and is the founder of HelpingPlaces and WatchDTLA. His newest project, iHeartDTLA's goal is to support small businesses in downtown during Covid-19 and to promote #ShopLocalDTLA.
Shawn opened up a store in 2021 named POP DTLA, in Downtown Los Angeles. POP DTLA at 9th and Broadway is an extended Lifestyle Pop Up Shoppe that sells Plants, Furniture, Fashion, Art, Music and Wellness. Visitors compare the store to Fred Segal and Ron Herman, where eclectic high end brands merge to create an immersive downtown experience. The store partnered with The L.A. Mission to sell a clothing line where 100% of the proceeds goes to the Mission and clothing the unhoused population.
