Kaori Ravi

Born on the island of Martinique, Kaori Ravi's early years were spent moving around as their mother's health and their father's shifting career required. The young graphic artist had already boldly approached the manager of a small shop in the nearby mall, asking for permission to draw art on the shop window by 2016. A few years later, they started training under the guidance of actress and stage performer Rita Ravier (known for Battledream Chronicle) when they entered middle-school. The growing acting skills were only noticed by those fortunate enough to have seen them perform multiple parts in the school performance of the play "La Terre qui ne voulait plus tourner" by Françoise du Chaxel. Yet, nothing had prepared those who knew them to what was to come next, as their language skills in English suddenly reached new heights, thanks to self-learning during the 2020's lockdown months on the tiny island. When the casting call came for Opal, with the stipulation that all candidates would need to be able to read for the parts in English, a rare occurrence on the French-speaking territory, Kaori requested permission to audition alongside their mom, Bella Nazaire. They were barely 14 when recording for the film was done. Child actors are an unusual thing in the history of Martinican film. Child actors taking on a foreign language part, in Martinique? Definitely unusual!
