The King of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a notable improvement over Breath of the Wilds King Rhoam, although this is arguably a result of Ganons influence. There have been many kings of Hyrule in the Zelda series, and they have ranged considerably in personality, notably unlike Princess Zelda herself. The differences seen between the two most recent kings perfectly exemplify just how big these changes can be, and also emphasize the terrible impact that the very existence of Ganon can have on Hyrule.
In some ways, it is easy to identify the titular Princess father in any Legend of Zelda game. Although their names do vary, a curious fact which sets them apart from many other staple Zelda figures, the various Kings of Hyrule (and the non-royal Gaepora from Skyward Sword) always boast a white beard and mustache. My Salty Mary, the upcoming sequel to My Lady Jane, is set to release on August 20, 2024, offering fans an alternative after the cancellation of Our Flag Means Death. The new book follows the story of Mary Read, a pirate character introduced in Our Flag Means Death season 2, expanding on the universe with a feminist perspective. With similar tones to Our Flag Means Death, My Salty Mary promises hilarious pirate antics and could potentially be adapted into a TV series, providing fans with more entertainment options.
My Lady Jane's upcoming book sequel, My Salty Mary, will be released on August 20, 2024, and it might just be the perfect replacement for the HBO Max canceled show Our Flag Means Death. Calamity Jane has premiered on Tubi and is now streaming for free. The new Western reunites CW's Arrow co-stars Emily Bett Rickards and Stephen Amell.
Rickards stars as the titular character in Calamity Jane, which makes its AVOD premiere as a Tubi original. Rickard's Calamity Jane embarks on a revenge mission to kill Crooked Nose Jack after he murders her husband-to-be, Wild Bill Hickok, portrayed by Amell. Rickards and Amell famously played Felicity Smoak and Oliver Queen, respectively, in the fan-favorite DC show Arrow. The pair reunited again to play lovers in the Samuel Goldwyn Films-produced Western, which also stars Tim Rozon, Priscilla Faia, Gage Marsh, Garrett Black, Christian Sloan, Troy Mundle, and Spencer Borgeson. Terry Miles directed the film.

The true ending of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be unlocked by finding all of Link's forgotten memories before defeating Calamity Ganon. The difference between the two endings is minimal, with the true ending simply providing an extra cutscene and wrapping up the story more neatly. The true ending leads seamlessly into the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, as it connects to a memory where Link returns the Master Sword to its pedestal in Korok Forest.
The ending of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild likely didn't surprise many players, with Link defeating Ganon and saving the eponymous princess once again. However, it's possible that some who saw Link's journey through to the end missed out on the game's true ending. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets player complete its four main dungeons, the Divine Beasts, in any order. Although there is a seemingly obvious order the game wants Link to conquer the Divine Beasts in, a slightly different route is more effective. The best order for completing Botw's Divine Beasts hinges on the Champion abilities rewarded for beating their respective bosses.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild features four Divine Beasts, which are mechanized dungeons that Link can tackle in any order – although certain sequences may be better than others. In Botw's backstory, the Divine Beasts were used to defeat Ganon during the First Great Calamity roughly 10,000 years ago, a strategy that was repeated in the Second Great Calamity 100 years prior to the game's setting. Calamity Ganon was prepared for the Divine Beasts the second time, however, and corrupted them with Malice. Link is tasked...

The Legend of Zelda may benefit from a different main villain in the next game to avoid repetition and to bring innovation to the forces of evil. Introducing other final bosses can make Ganon's appearances more special and memorable, while also preventing his character from becoming boring. Constantly having Ganon return as the main villain can potentially undermine the sense of achievement and make the efforts of Link and the player feel pointless.
When the next entry in The Legend of Zelda series arrives, the title arguably deserves a change in its main villain. Different forms of Ganon – and his Gerudo form, Ganondorf – have been the final boss of Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild before it, each an immense game in their own right. However, the next Zelda title may well be a better game if it has a different villain pulling the strings.

A prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has the potential to expand upon the background and lore of the series, resolving unsolved mysteries and answering lingering questions. A Totk prequel could provide insight into Hyrule's past, focusing on the first clash with Calamity Ganon and delving into the origins of the Divine Beasts and the Guardians. A prequel featuring the Ancient Hero as the protagonist would be intriguing, shedding light on his true history and potentially revealing more about Hyrule's founding and its royal family.
With the King of Evil defeated once again, the best follow-up to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would arguably be a prequel. Although there are currently no plans for Totk to receive Dlc, there is no doubt that The Legend of Zelda will continue with additional titles, one of which could expand upon some of the background revealed in the most recent games.

The gothic aesthetic is an extremely popular style, even in anime. There's a special category of gothic waifus that a particular fanbase finds appealing. Frilly lace and heavy velvets, sweeping black gowns and cloaks, and chunky boots tend to go hand-in-hand with witch and vampire characters in anime. Waifus dressed in dark colors and intricate designs have a certain kind of grace, or a threatening presence.
Gothic style draws from many places, including Elizabethan fashion, Victorian mourning traditions, and punk accessories. They have a look of otherworldly mourners, whether they're a vampire or not. Gothic style, in and out of anime, was popularized by pop culture figures like Morticia Addams, Vampira, and David Bowie, and Robert Smith – so many fans' favorite waifus were inspired by these famous figures.

Warning: Spoilers for Dead Mount Death Play episode 1Dead Mount Death Play is an Isekai anime that just debuted on Crunchyroll, but everything about the series separates it from the swaths of others that fail to innovate or even try to differentiate themselves from each other in this now oversaturated genre.
In episode one of the series based on the manga by writer Ryohgo Narita and illustrator Shinta Fujimoto, the villainous Corpse God reincarnates from its terrifying skeletal form in a fantasy world into a humanoid boy named Polka Shinoyama who lived in a modern-day setting. As Polka, Corpse God can still use the same magic he wielded before, and the hero who forced him to reincarnate, Calamity Crusher, is being set up to likely follow him into this new world.

Trailers and screenshots for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom repeatedly show Link, the reincarnating hero of the Zelda franchise and protagonist in Breath of the Wild, grappling with new villainous threats to Hyrule on both the land and in the sky. The antagonists and enemies in these gameplay previews seemed to be driven and empowered by the Malice energy that was a major plot point in Breath of the Wild, but seem to be led by a mummy-like undead corpse (who may or may not be a new incarnation of Ganon). If the big bad of Tears of the Kingdom is a necromantic overlord who rises from a tomb, this would make them a mirror version of Link, who was also revived after a century of slumber.

Genshin Impact’s Calamity Queller is yet another polearm that many characters in the open-world RPG can equip, but only a few heroes in the game can put it to good use. The 5-star polearm was originally introduced in Version 2.4 along with the 5-star character, Shenhe, as it is her signature weapon. Although it is not held in the highest regard, such as the Primordial Jade-Winged Spear or Engulfing Lightning, Shenhe’s polearm can adequately serve a multitude of characters.
As is the case with most weapons in the game, the best characters to equip Genshin Impact’s Calamity Queller are those that can take full advantage of its stats and weapon skill. Though it is designed with an icy look, it is not exclusive to Cryo characters in Genshin Impact and works well with many characters that carry different types of Visions. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's villain was heard for the first time in the latest trailer, but their identity is still a secret. If what has been shown is any indication, Hyrule is in serious danger from this new threat despite Link's victory in Botw. Tears of the Kingdom's villain is already building up to be one of Link's scariest enemies yet.
In the trailer featured in February 2023's Nintendo Direct, a voice is heard commanding Ganon's minion's to attack. The voice is vicious and cruel, making his words scarily impactful. As the Blood Moon rises in the sky, he demands that his minions leave no survivors. Whoever this figure is, it is clear from the outset that they possess an intense hatred for Hyrule, as well as the power to destroy it. Although Link is clearly leading the fight against evil in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it is much less clear what role Zelda herself will play in the upcoming title. Zelda took a leading role in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, fighting alongside the Champions and other warriors in an impressive display of martial skill. However, it may be that Totk will place her in a very different role, quite possibly to the game’s detriment.
Although Zelda was a relatively distant figure in Breath of the Wild, spending most of the game holding back Calamity Ganon, her displays of power were remarkable, making it clear that she is one of the best versions of The Legend of Zelda’s princess to date. In Age of Calamity, fans saw her fight with both her technological prowess in the form of the Sheikah Slate and her divine power.

Since it seems unlikely that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will use Ganon as a villain, or at least not the only one, there's an overlooked character who could take his place. As Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity isn't a mainline Zelda game, it may be relatively overlooked, especially since the gameplay is rather different. However, one character, Astor, might be an option for filling in the role of villain in Tears of the Kingdom.
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.]
Due to the events in Breath of the Wild, it's unlikely that Calamity Ganon will return as the villain in the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom. One theory is that Demise will most likely replace Ganon in Totk, connecting the game to Skyward Sword. But Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has a villain with ties to Calamity Ganon that could be explored in more depth through Totk, making Astor a strong candidate for the role.

The excitement for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is growing now that fans know the release date and title, but understanding the working of Breath of the Wild will likely still be great for getting accustomed to this open-world formula. This exciting new format presents longtime series fans with new challenges, especially since Breath of the Wild revolutionized the open-world game design in general.
Naturally, though, this means that newcomers will be making some early mistakes in their ventures. From managing stamina to minding Hyrule's volatile weather patterns, there are several things players should be aware of to make their quest as smooth as possible.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will feature many of the same elements from Botw, but one mechanic will be missing due to the events that took place at the first game’s ending. One popular aspect of Botw was its approach to combat. Enemies could be fought at any angle and with any tool at the player’s disposal. Despite Link’s best efforts to dispel any monsters that would put Hyrule in danger, they always come back. However, with Calamity Ganon’s defeat, this may longer be the case.

Up amongst the rafters of the hideout, a small nook provides ample shelter for Link should he attract the attention of Yiga Blademasters. Throughout the many changes that The Legend of Zelda series has undergone, Ganondorf's identity as a Gerudo has remained consistent since its first appearance.
