RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Finale: Did the Right Queen Win Season 10?
Image
For a season filled with twists and turns, the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 was surprisingly… unsurprising.

Sure, I was moderately gagged to see Kerri Colby strut into the Werk Room as the official wild-card pick, but only because it felt like the stage had been set for the dramatic return of Mistress Isabelle Brooks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a total KerBear, but bringing Mistress back would have infused this finale with some much-needed drama.

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ Season 10 Finale: And the Winner Is…
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” Season 10, Episode 12.

After a season of spicing up the “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” format, only one queen could come out on top and earn a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

“All Stars” 10 rolled out a new set of rules for the 18 queens, as they competed in the “Tournament of All Stars.” After nine queens emerged victorious from their three bracketed groups, only eight made it to the finale.

Kerri Colby won the lottery wild card spot over Mistress Isabel Brooks to compete in the Lip Sync Smackdown for the Crown against the seven remaining queens Aja, Bosco, Daya Betty, Ginger Minj, Irene the Alien, Jorgeous, and Lydia B Kollins.

Ru always has a trick up his sleeve, and the lip sync battle was no exception. The eight finalists were tasked to “Rate-a-Queen” and...

Image
Gooped. Gagged. Gobsmacked. If any of the above describe your current emotional state, there’s a good chance you just finished watching the penultimate episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10.

I’ll start with the question on every viewer’s mind: What the heck happened to Mistress Isabelle Brooks? Initially considered a frontrunner in the competition, both as a fierce competitor and a shady schemer, the Texas titan returned for the semifinals last week as a shell of her former self, bombing Snatch Game and having to lip sync for her life. But instead of letting this light a fire under her,...

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10’: Purple Bracket Queens Reveal New Tactics for New Season
Image
Nothing rhymes with purple … but regardless, “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” is still returning for Season 10 this week.

In honor of Friday’s first-ever Tournament of All Stars, the six queens who complete the cast of 18 — Acid Betty, Alyssa Hunter, Cynthia Lee Fontaine, Daya Betty, Denali and Ginger Minj (aka the Purple Bracket) — got honest about their evolutions since their original seasons and revealed some fresh tactics for the updated format.

“For people who like sports, it’s going to be kind of interesting,” Seasons 8 & 9 star Cynthia Lee Fontaine told TheWrap. “It’s not as stressful as a regular season. There’s some stress — there’s moments you want to rip off your wig and run to Hollywood Boulevard — but it’s very interesting and very nice.”

RuPaul's Drag Race: Drag Families With Multiple Members On The Show
Image
Drag families play a crucial role in drag culture, and many appear on RuPaul's Drag Race, allowing fans to compare contestants to their drag family members. Some hauses, such as Haus Montrese and Haus of Methyd, have been well-represented on the show, with both members making it to the season finale. The Haus of Davenport and Haus of Edwards are among the most prominent drag families on Drag Race, known for their talented dancers and big personalities.

Drag families are an essential part of drag culture, and many families have been featured on RuPaul's Drag Race. A haus defines a queen's drag style, which fans can see on the show and compare the contestants to their drag family members. Drag houses are usually complicated and span over decades, but some Ru girls are in hauses just getting their empires started.

Best (& Worst) Reality TV Villains Of 2022
Image
Not everyone can receive a favorable edit on popular reality shows like Netflix's Love Is Blind, but while some villains in 2022 were celebrated among viewers, others gave off the opposite impression. When it comes to reality competitions or dating programs, fans have learned to quickly spot which contestants they would love to see more from, and which they hope fade into relative obscurity. Some reality stars are branded as unlikable, or as downright villains, due to their personalities, while others find that their off-screen antics are what tank their public perceptions.

While many memorable reality television stars like Tiffany "New York" Pollard and former American Idol judge Simon Cowell gained fame through their initial villainous personas, it's important to note that there are instances where a person may be intentionally edited to be portrayed a certain way or may appear competently different off-camera. As the reality television genre has progressed,...

It’s been an amazing ride from the beginning, never knowing anything!”

“There is nothing else that I work on that allows me to express myself completely in the way that this show does,” says Leland of VH1’s RuPaul’s Drag Race, which this year wrapped its 14th season. “I still pinch myself and cannot believe that this is my job.”

The mononymous songwriter, Drag Race season 14 finalist Angeria Paris VanMicheals, lead editor Jamie Martin and songwriter Gabe Lopez joined The Hollywood Reporter’s Hilton Dresden for THR Presents, powered by Vision Media, to discuss the latest season of the Emmy-winning reality competition series.

Leland, who composes the series’ original music with collaborator Lopez, says that an exciting prospect of the most recent season was the annual “Rusical” titled “Moulin Ru,” inspired by the Baz Luhrmann movie musical and subsequent Broadway show. “Creating ‘Moulin Ru’ was definitely a labor of love [and] one of the most...

‘Drag Race’ Season 14 Winner Willow Pill to Become First Queen Submitted for Original Song Emmy (Exclusive)
Shawn Morales in RuPaul's Drag Race (2009)
Things just keep getting better for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 14 winner Willow Pill.

Pill is eligible and will be submitted for Emmy consideration for her original song, “I Hate People,” which she performed at the show’s finale on VH1 in April.

Willow co-wrote the anthemic song about not liking anyone with Brett Leland McLaughlin and Gabe Lopez.

“The song ‘I Hate People’ was such a blast to work on because we wanted to go totally left of what the audience would expect,” Pill said of working on the number, in an exclusive statement to TheWrap. “The song is irreverent, catchy and tends to resonate with people after a rough 2 years.”

"RuPaul's Drag Race" Stars Willow Pill and Lady Camden on an Unpredictable Season 14
Image
Image Source: Getty / Astrid Stawiarz

Season 14 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" was unlike any other we've ever seen. From the unexpected twists to the out-of-the-box fashions to a historic finale, this season's cast held nothing back as they competed for the "Drag Race" crown. After many (many) lip-syncs and shocking elimination rounds, RuPaul finally declared Willow Pill, aka "Wiwwl Piwwl," a winner, baby. It's been nearly three weeks since the season's final episode was filmed, and Pill is still processing her victory.

"I really want to release some of the pressure that I feel and just have the win in a lane that is really fun, wild, but also relaxed, and still enjoyable."

"It feels great, honestly. I think I'm really just in the beginning of starting to compute that [I'm season 14's winner]," they tell Popsugar. As the first trans woman to win a non-All Stars season of "RuPaul's Drag Race," Pill shares that...

‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Season 14 Finale Slips From Previous Year Despite In-Person Event, Delivers Nearly 700K Viewers & Notches Up In Young Demo
Image
Exclusive: After nearly two seasons heavily struck by the pandemic, RuPaul’s Drag Race concluded its fourteenth season with an in-person finale extravaganza held at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Despite the return to the showy Drag Race pomp and circumstance, the Season 14 finale couldn’t quite match up to Season 13’s ratings.

Friday’s finale, which crowned Willow Pill America’s Next Drag Superstar, delivered 697,000 total viewers in Live+Sd. For comparison, the Season 13 ender in 2021 brought in 772,000 total viewers and marked the most-watched episode for the franchise since the Season 10 finale in 2018.

Willow Pill bested runner-up Lady Camden and fellow finalists Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Bosco and Daya Betty. Also walking away a winner was Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté, who won Miss Congeniality. To make victory even sweeter, Willow Pill took home a franchise-high cash prize of 150,000 while Lady Camden won 50,000. Read the full recap here.

‘Ru Paul’s Drag Race 14×16’ Review
Image
I have to admit that I am not usually a big fan of the reunion episodes of Ru Paul’s Drag Race as sometimes they feel as if they are just a filler episode to meet the required episode count. The fact that a whole hour episode was dedicated to looking at things that the audience had already watched felt like a waste of time and was simply a way to add an extra commissioned episode to the season! This initial idea was only intensified by the fact that many people have viewed this season as the never-ending show with numerous episodes where no one was eliminated or queens have returned, I was already anticipating another meaningless episode where nothing changes in the overall competition. However, last week’s episode that saw all the queens of season fourteen return was one of my favourite episodes! We had the classic revisiting...

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 16 Review: Grand Finale
Shawn Morales in RuPaul's Drag Race (2009)
We've found our new winner! America's Next Drag Superstar was crowned in a grand ceremony on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 16.

A fabulous night of Las Vegas shenanigans and showgirl looks closed the book on a roller-coaster season.

Did the finale end on a high note? Did the Final five come to slay? (I've got a wittle feeling that it didn't disappoint.)

Before we get into the lip-syncing, we need to chat about the finale looks. The queens go all out for "Grand Finale," so these ensembles end on a bang!

Alyssa Hunter, Kornbread, Kerri Colby, Angeria Paris VanMichaels, and Lady Camden had the Top 5 favorite looks of the night.

Alyssa and Angeria shined in their breathtaking opulent gowns. Alyssa always brought style to the runway, but her rich madam look and money fan redeemed any issues over her lip-sync mishap.

And Angeria's gigantic blue showgirl feathers stole the show.
