Has four children with her husband David Grant: a daughter Olive Gray (b. December 3, 1994), an adopted son Nathan Grant (b. 2001 and adopted by them at the age 2 in 2003) and two more daughters - Talia Grant (b. 2002) and Imogen Beloved Grant (b. January 10, 2006).

She was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2020 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to music, media and charity in London, Greater London, England. She is a performer and vocal coach.

Has four children, all of whom have complex needs. Olivia has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyspraxia. Talia has Asperger's syndrome (a form of autism) and dyscalculia (difficulty in learning arithmetic). Imogen is autistic and has ADHD. Nathan has attachment issues and ADHD.

She first came to fame as a singer in her own right with the pop group Sweet Dreams in 1983, when they represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest that year with the song "I'm Never Giving Up".

Daughter Tylan Grant plays Brooke in Hollyoaks (1995).

Daughter Olive Gray plays Alice in The Story of Tracy Beaker (2002).
