In a post on X, Hollywood scooper MyTimeToShineHelloalluded to Chloe Bennet reprising her role as Skye / Daisy Johnson / Quake in an upcoming MCU project, with the words, "She's coming back" featured alongside photos of the actor. While the post doesn't offer much in terms of when and how, Daredevil: Born Again or even Spider-Man: Brand New Day could easily make space for her return. There's also ongoing fan speculation about Secret Invasion-adjacent stories or the formation of a live-action Young Avengers where Quake's powers and backstory could be a natural fit.

On one hand, you could say Joss Whedon had about as auspicious a Marvel Studios debut as possible when he wrote and directed "The Avengers." Another Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast member has opened up about potentially returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ming-Na Wen, who played S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Melinda May in the long-running ABC series, recently revealed whether Marvel Studios has reached out to her about reprising her role in a future MCU project.

During an appearance on The Sackhoff Show (via Screen Rant), Wen shared that she has not been contacted yet by Marvel about returning to the MCU. "No, they have not...it's weird, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. sort of became a separate entity for whatever reason because it was on the network as opposed to streaming," she said. "I think there's some — and this is where my obliviousness also helps because I don't understand it, so you're asking the wrong person, I just know that there's some sort of division."

With Marvel Studios officially recognizing Netflix's Defenders Saga as Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, fans remain hopeful that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be the next pre-Disney+ Marvel series to be added to the sacred timeline. One star of the popular ABC series, Jeff Ward, recently opened up about what it would take to get him to come back as his MCU character, Deke Shaw.

Speaking with Agents of Fandom at Toronto Comicon, Ward addressed whether he was interested in reprising his role as Deke Shaw in an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revival. "Yeah, but only if he was in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D., because that’s where we last left him, so he’d have to be in charge," the actor said, revealing his one condition on returning to the MCU. "But, I would love to of course, I love S.H.

Since the Infinity Stones saga ended, Marvel has tried to expand the stories on the television screen. The MCU has flourished on the small screen, as it allows more room and time for character development.

The studio has found critical success, and the quality of the stories was not affected by the change. However, as several series came under the expanded universe of Marvel, Disney is still far from making one of their most beloved shows part of the current MCU timeline—Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

“Never Have I Ever” star Darren Barnet has landed a guest star role on the Season 7 premiere of ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Variety has learned exclusively.

In the show’s final season opener, titled “The New Deal,” Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the agents are thrust back in time to 1931 New York City, where they encounter Barnet’s character. It’s unclear how many episodes Barnet will be featured in the role, although his character could have a lasting impact on the “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” universe.

Fan favorite Patton Oswalt also returns to the series in an unspecified new role; in past seasons, Oswalt has portrayed iterations of the Koenig siblings, a family with close ties to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Barnet is most recently known for his portrayal of teen heartthrob Paxton Hall-Yoshida on Netflix’s comedy series, co-created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher.

Two of ABC’s live-action Marvel series (was there really a third?) will collide when the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cross paths with a character from the gone-too-soon Agent Carter during the former’s seventh and final season.

Enver Gjokaj, whose Daniel Sousa was an agent with the Strategic Scientific Reserve (Ssr) on Agent Carter, will reprise that role as a guest star during S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s 13-episode farewell run, which kicks off Wednesday, May 27 at 10/9.

ABC is looking to remain the network to beat this summer. 

After earning the title of summer's No. 1 network for the first time in 24 years in 2019, ABC will once again kick off Summer Fun & Games with the premieres of returning series Holey Moley II: The Sequel, To Tell the Truth, Celebrity Family Feud, Press Your Luck, and Match Game.

The network also announced the premiere date for the farewell season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and a new series from ABC News, The Genetic Detective.

We spoke to the Agents of Shield showrunners to get a better idea of what it is we really saw in the surprising season 6 finale.

This interview contains spoilers for Agents of Shield season 6.

The Agents of Shield finale left us with a lot of questions, and while we did our best to explain the ending ourselves, we had to at least make an attempt at getting some answers from showrunners Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, and Jeff Bell. They were noticeably tight-lipped with some of our probing inquiries, but we did succeed in getting them to speculate about audience reaction, the impacts on various characters, and the specific context of where things will begin in season 7.

Tuesday marked the final day of production on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., triggering some emotional reflection from cast and showrunners.

As announced at this month’s San Diego Comic-Con, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is ending its run after Season 7, which was greenlit back in November and will air sometime in 2020. (The two-hour Season 6 finale airs this Friday on ABC.)

The Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast and crew came to San Diego Comic-Con and premiered a new extended trailer. During the Thursday panel in Hall H the cast: Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward, were also joined by executive producers Maurissa Tancharoen, Jed Whedon, Jeff Bell, and Jeph Loeb.

They reflected on the show's journey by showing video recaps of each season and sharing random stories about production and casting. The whole panel had the specter of the show’s end hanging over it. Thankfully, they get to close out the show with one more season, but it's going to be sad to see Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. end, but also surprising that the show made it as far as it did. It always seemed like the McU kept throwing the show curveballs...

Just hours after Deadline exclusively revealed that Marvel’s Agent’s of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be ending after its seventh season, the ABC series took the stage at Comic-Con’s Hall H for the beginning of a long goodbye.

“This has been an incredible journey,” Agent Coulson himself Clark Gregg told the several thousands in the largest room in the Sand Diego Convention Center, adding that he was “very moved.”

Ending with a peak at the end of the current Season 6 and termed a “celebration” by Marvel TV boss and executive producer Jeph Loeb, the one-hour panel touched on every season of S.H.I.E.L.D. with stars and EPs reminiscing and offering thanks to the fans and more.

“The people behind the cameras also contribute so much, it blows my mind,” emotionally noted Ming-Na Wen, who plays crack pilot and weapons expert Melinda May on the series.

When the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast christened TVLine’s 2019 San Diego Comic-Con video suite on Thursday, the No. 1 topic was going to be the latest teases about Sarge’s identity.

But then the show went and announced it is ending in 2020, with Season 7! So… plans changed.

It's been a long and successful run for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but the team will blast off for one final mission before wrapping up the series for good in 2020 after its seventh season.

Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb broke the news to Deadline, confirming that it will allow the writers to “build a season that will tie up any threads that are there. To make sure that we come to a conclusion that’s satisfying to the fans, to the cast, to Marvel, and to ABC.”

While it's bittersweet knowing that the show is ending, it's great to know that there will be a conclusion for long-time fans.

But that also opens up the possibility of some wild twists that could render some of the characters out of commission ... for good.

Marvel’s Agents of Shield will officially field its final mission, with 2020’s Season 7 now revealed to be the show’s finale.

Agents of Shield will turn in its badge to ABC after the conclusion of Season 7 in the summer of 2020!

As the cast and creative personnel prepare for today’s Agents of Shield Comic-Con panel, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb dropped the bombshell that the series will, indeed, conclude, upon completion of next year’s seventh season, leaving what will ultimately be a 136 -episode legacy, as revealed to Deadline. As Loeb explains of the reasoning for the move:

“The simplest answer is so that we can end on our terms, really.” He continues, “How many shows do you know that just suddenly ended, and you feel like, but wait a minute, there was more. Yes, in the chronology of this is we thought Season 5 was the end.

The Marvel series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” will conclude with its upcoming seventh season, Variety has confirmed.

“Next summer’s Season 7 will be the last for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” a message posted on the show’s official Twitter account read. “Thanks to our fans for allowing us to be the longest-running Marvel TV series to-date.”

The series is currently airing its sixth season on ABC and is set to hold a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in Hall H later on Thursday. It stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward.

The show was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory. The series is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.

“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Marvel’s flagship TV show set inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will end its run after its seventh season next summer, the network confirmed.

The Marvel TV series is currently in the middle of sixth season. The news comes ahead of the show’s Hall H Comic-Con panel on Friday afternoon.

“It will be bittersweet saying goodbye to Marvel Television’s flagship series,” said Jeph Loeb, executive producer and Marvel’s head of Television. “Our success is a true testament to the extraordinary fans and we remain forever indebted to them for their endless support.
