Monica Lee Bellais

Monica Lee Bellais is a London-based writer and producer. She has worked on productions across Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Iceland, Thailand, the UAE, the U.S., and the U.K. Her experience spans roles from production management to creative direction, highlighting her versatility and global perspective.

Her commitment to advancing the entertainment industry is evident through her leadership roles. As a Council Member of the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE), Monica has been instrumental in advocating for writers and shaping industry standards. She was re-elected to the WGAE Council for a fourth term in September 2024, reflecting her ongoing dedication to writers. Additionally, her role on the Advisory Committee for Women in Film & Video in Washington, DC, highlights her efforts to foster diversity and create more opportunities for women in media.

In 2019, she played a key role in promoting mental health awareness in the media, collaborating with the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Entertainment Industry Council to develop guidelines on portraying suicide in entertainment. In 2018 Veterans in Media & Entertainment recognized her advocacy for veterans and honored her for helping veterans transition into the entertainment industry. Additionally, she was an Honorary Guest at the 2017 Northern Wave International Film Festival in Iceland, where she appeared alongside the celebrated Icelandic actress Edda Björgvinsdóttir.

Monica Lee Bellais is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Producers Guild of America (PGA), SAG-AFTRA, the WGAE, and the Writers' Guild of Great Britain (WGGB). She holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, and her blend of leadership, advocacy, and creative work continues to make a lasting impact on the entertainment industry worldwide.
