Donald Trump, the president of the United States, is in the middle of a flame war with American late-night TV comedians.
Trump on Tuesday reiterated his claim, without evidence, that ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel is the “Next to go in the untalented Late night Sweepstakes,” in a post on Truth Social.
The president’s latest comment follows CBS’s unexpected decision to cancel Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” last week. In response to Colbert’s show being axed, Trump wrote, “I absolutely love that Colbert’ got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings. I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!”
Colbert on Monday shot back at Trump’s celebration of “The Late Show” ending, telling the president in the show’s opening monologue, “Go fuck yourself.” (CBS bleeped out the f-word.)

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias had the top-performing comedy special on Netflix in the first half of 2025, per new data released by the streamer.
The news comes in sifting through the latest edition of Netflix’s biannual “What We Watched” report, unveiled on Thursday, which looked at streaming engagement on the platform from January through June.
Iglesias’ Gabriel Iglesias: Legend of Fluffy ranked 210th on the overall list of highest-viewed TV program during that window, with 7.8 million views since its January 6th debut.
Second on the list is 2024’s top-grossing touring comedian Nate Bargatze, who was ranked 275th with 6.7 million views for Your Friend, Nate Bargatze. His ranking was naturally affected by the fact that the special dropped on December 24, 2024, so the first days of viewership were folded into the report for the back half of 2024.

After her seven-year run on late-night show “Chelsea Lately,” audiences wouldn’t see Chelsea Handler return to stand-up comedy for another six years. While visiting “Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out,” Handler surprised the host by calling the absence an unforced error.
“Big mistake,” Handler said.
“Really?” Birbiglia exclaimed. “I thought you were going to say that it was a great idea!”
“No, now I think about that, and I’m like, wow, it would’ve been better to just keep the ball rolling and get my shit together,” Handler replied. “In those six years, I got my shit together in a huge way, but I didn’t need to take that long of a break, and it affected – I had to regrow my audience, and so I wish I hadn’t done that.”

Even if Benny Blanco made the song, it doesn’t mean he’s going to remember it forever.
The record producer and songwriter made a recent appearance on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, where he admitted that he has to look up his own songs sometimes.
“The first, like, big pop thing that I ever worked on was Britney Spears,” Blanco said when Shane asked him who was the first successful person he’d worked with. “Sometimes I am in a restaurant and I’m like, ‘Oh, my god, this song’s so good.’ And I Shazam it, and then it’s my own song.” Shazam is an app that names songs in seconds by analyzing a short audio sample.
He added that he occasionally doesn’t realize it’s his own songs because “I’m old and I can’t remember anything. And I’ve done like hundreds of songs that have come out,...

Chelsea Handler thought she’d just be enjoying a nice dinner with her pal Katie Couric alongside “all these random people in New York City,” she said earlier this year on an episode of the On With Kara Swisher podcast. As the friends took their places at the table, Handler didn’t think much of the two empty chairs across from her and Couric — until “in comes Soon-Yi Previn and Woody Allen.”
Handler swears she didn’t know they were coming. “I’m like, Oh no, I can’t do this,” she remembered. “There’s no way that I will get through this dinner.”
She began kicking Couric under the table, a signal that she couldn’t endure a dinner seated across from Woody Allen without an outburst of some kind.
“Can you wait?” begged Couric.
“Wait for what?”
“Can you at least just wait until the end of the dinner?...

About why he doesn’t talk about his personal dating life, he told Vanity Fair, “I always feel perplexed when I’m identified in whatever form of media as a ‘highly private person,’ because that’s the opposite of me. On May 8, the day before she popped on a Zoom for this conversation, Desi Lydic was wrapping up prep for that evening’s The Daily Show when the 4:30 curse struck again. White smoke was billowing in Vatican City, and now the staff of the Comedy Central institution needed to reshape the first half of the episode around the announcement of an American pope. “We’ll have an entire show written and then some time between 4 and 5 o’clock, something will happen,” says Lydic, who shares the hosting carousel with Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Jon Stewart. “Then we have just enough time to scrap it and start from scratch.”
It’s been a very eventful year. Is there an episode or segment you’re most proud of pulling off?

Their specials may wade into bleaker territory but the six top comics gathered for THR’s Stand-Up Emmy Roundtable spent most of their time together in stitches.
Over the course of an hour, Jamie Foxx, Chelsea Handler, Seth Meyers, Hasan Minhaj, Sarah Silverman and Roy Wood Jr. regaled each other with intimate and often hilarious tales of bombing on the world’s biggest stages, finding comedy in their darkest moments and, in the case of Minhaj, losing his dream job at Comedy Central.
While discussing the latter, Wood, who had been at The Daily Show, where he, too, had been in contention for the host gig, revealed what it was like to still be at the show when Minhaj’s offer was rescinded. “Nobody would give any details and we were all trying to figure out, ‘Well, if it’s not going to be Hasan, who’s it going to be?...

Their latest specials tackle themes of death (Sarah Silverman), loneliness (Roy Wood Jr.) and a stroke that nearly ended Jamie Foxx’s life. But gather this sextet — which also includes Chelsea Handler, Hasan Minhaj and Seth Meyers — around a table with a few old-fashioneds, and the mood is anything but bleak. Over the course of an hour, the Stand-Up Emmy Roundtable covered everything from clones to cocaine to cancellation.

It’s been just over a decade since the world lost the comedy legend that was Joan Rivers, so to celebrate her life, NBC is releasing “Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute.”
The hour-long special will unite several comedians and actors to revisit Rivers’ legendary cabinet of jokes, and add their own spin to them. Plus, they’ll include some original material as well.
“This tribute is everything my mother would have wanted — hilarious, unfiltered and filled with people she respected (and roasted),” Melissa Rivers, Joan Rivers’ daughter, said in a statement. “And as usual, she was still the funniest person in the room. It’s incredibly moving to see so many iconic comedians come together to celebrate her legacy, especially the women whose careers she helped make possible by breaking down so many doors.”

One remarkable gift Joan Rivers left behind was a voluminous repository of her jokes. She wrote more than 70,000 gags, meticulously recorded on index cards and filed away by subject. “Joan’s jokes were pure,” marveled Patton Oswalt. “They were set-up/punchline, no meandering stories, all meat, no filler.”
On tonight’s Joan Rivers: A Dead Funny All-Star Tribute, the comedian’s biggest celebrity fans raided that filing cabinet to repurpose her funniest punchlines. Here are some of the best…

For decades, barriers and biases have made it harder for women to receive the same opportunities and recognition as men in athletics. Title IX — a law that bans sex-based discrimination in education programs — wasn’t enacted until 1972. Yet, in the face of adversity, women have continued to shatter records and redefine greatness in sports. From Serena and Venus Williams to Simone Biles, Alex Morgan, Coco Gauff, and Caitlin Clark, some of the most remarkable athletes of our time are women.

It’s hard to be online and not have heard of Hannah Berner.
The 33-year-old, who got her start on Bravo’s Summer House, has been busier than most can even imagine. She and her former reality TV co-star Paige DeSorbo have created their own podcasting juggernaut with their weekly show Giggly Squad. Berner also hosts a podcast, Berner Phone, with her husband, Des Bishop.
Berner quickly set her sights on a passion of hers — stand-up comedy. Over the last year, she toured as a stand-up, eventually releasing an hour-long Netflix special, We Ride at Dawn, a certified top 10 hit on the platform, and played over 40 Giggly Squad live show dates.
“I’ve lived so many different lives and people know me from so many things,” Berner tells The Hollywood Reporter on a phone call in late March. “I kind of love not being put in a box.”

The Golden Globes are no longer the first major awards show of the calendar year.
The Critics Choice Association has revealed that its 31st annual event will take place Jan. 4, 2026. This announcement comes one day after the Golden Globes picked the following Sunday, Jan. 11, as its awards date. Fun fact: the last time the Critics Choice Awards aired before the Golden Globes was nine years ago, when the 22nd Cca aired Dec. 11, 2016, and the 74th Globes aired Jan. 8, 2017 — both gave La La Land a Best Picture prize.
The Cca's television nominations will be announced Dec. 4, and the film nominations Dec. 5. A host for the 2026 ceremony has yet to be named; Chelsea Handler hosted last time.
Returning to the E! network for the second consecutive year, the telecast will also air live on USA Network beginning at 7 p.m. Et/Pt. Once again, the kudos will be held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Mark Ronson sure knows how to tear up a DJ set. The Grammy-winning producer shared on Instagram that he was in the hospital following a set that went a little awry and left him with two torn bicep tendons. In the photo he posted, Ronson posed from his hospital bed with a thumbs up.
“That time the house Pa was so bad that I tried to one-hand turn the stage monitor towards the crowd mid-mix to give them some extra juice,” Ronson explained in the caption, adding, “Turns out they weigh more than I thought…...

In years past, Chelsea Handler publicly celebrated her birthday in her birthday suit. As her social media followers know, the comedian would commemorate another year on the planet by skiing topless in an Instagram post. (Handler would blur out or strategically cover her naughtiest bits to avoid getting her wrist slapped by Instagram mods.) Like the Masters golf tournament, it was a tradition unlike any other. It went a little something like this:
But Handler has been more modest in recent years, replacing the near-naked photos and videos with ones featuring the comic skiing in a bathing suit.
What’s up with the change? Is Handler becoming more modest as she gets older? Comedian Fortune Feimster was determined to get to the bottom (or top?) of the mystery when she interviewed Handler recently on SiriusXM. “I check in on you on your socials because you’re usually skiing down a...

In just three weeks, Adolescence has become one of Netflix’s most popular series of all time.
The limited series amassed another 30.4M views from March 24 to 30, putting it at 96.7M views since its debut. That was good enough to land at No. 9 on the all-time Most Popular English TV list, bumping Bridgerton Season 2 from the list altogether and pushing Stranger Things 3 to tenth place.
It’s very likely that Adolescence will continue to climb the most popular list, considering that the No. 7 and 8 spots are both sitting around 98M views. Adolescence will likely have surpassed both titles by this time next week, and may even soar higher. Third through sixth place on the list are all in the low 100M+ view range, which is perfectly achievable for Adolescence, since it still has 72 days in its premiere window to amass these views.
