Paradise took the world by storm upon its premiere earlier this year, and now series creator Dan Fogelman has just shared a huge update on Season 2. Paradise was renewed for a second season before the conclusion of the first, a major show of faith from Hulu and FX. The series performed exceptionally well during its first season with high viewership and largely positive reception – it’s currently holding steady with scores of 87% from critics and 83% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Paradise creator Dan Fogelman and star Sterling K. Brown, who plays agent Xavier Collins in the series, recently sat down for an interview with Deadline, and Fogelman was asked if he could share any updates on Season 2, which has been in production since late March:
"I’m literally finishing the finale right now of Season 2, writing. I also just got the first episodes of the edits and it’s so good.

Shailene Woodley was the first new star confirmed to join the Paradise Season 2 cast, and now creator Dan Fogelman has just revealed a crucial detail about her character and the upcoming season of the hit Hulu series. Paradise Season 1 follows Agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) as he investigates the murder of President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) and also reconciles with living in a post-apocalyptic bunker beneath a mountain. Fogelman and Brown recently took part in an interview with Deadline, and the creator was asked if they could share any details about who Woodley is playing in Season 2. The creator confirmed that it’s “somebody who’s not from the bunker,” and also went into detail about what fans can expect to see in Season 2:

This article mentions abuse and graphic violence.

The Motion Picture & Television Fund raised more than $4.3 million at its 22nd annual star-studded benefit on Saturday night.
The exclusive event was co-chaired by Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathé, America Ferrera and Ryan Piers-Williams, Jodie Foster and Paul Giamatti.
Funds raised from the event will be used to support industry members and their families who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services, such as financial assistance, crisis counseling, caregiving support and residency on the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, which now serves as “home” to many television and film veterans. During the recent work stoppages, MPTF received over 13,000 calls for aid and provided more than $8 million in charitable financial assistance.
“MPTF and I have such a rich, wonderful history together of taking care of our own,” said Foster. “I’m so proud to support this incredible organization and help raise crucial funds to support our industry family when they need it most.

Life has been a movie for Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathe, who found their match in each other back during their freshman year after making it to the play Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. However, the road ahead was far from smooth for the two teens, as the This Is Us actors would share an on-and-off bond throughout their college years.
However, the biggest obstacle they faced came up for a pretty crazy reason. Bathe recalled that her mother and grandmother predicted that the Primetime Emmy Winner was up to no good.

Sterling K. Brown doesn’t like drawing attention to himself, especially when it comes to fashion. But since earning his first Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for his role in Cord Jefferson’s comedy-drama American Fiction, even more eyes have been on the three-time Emmy-winning TV and film star.
“I’ll be honest with you, it is at times a bit overwhelming, especially when it comes to clothes and all the gear,” says Brown, 47, whose awards season obligations pile on by the day. “You can’t just go back and get your same suit every time. You’ve got to come with a fit that’s got a little bit of drip to it.”
Brown’s had good practice, portraying Clifford Ellison in the film based on Percival Everett’s 2001 novel Erasure. The flamboyant plastic surgeon is the brother of main character Thelonious “Monk” Ellison (Jeffrey Wright), a writer and professor who,...

NBC has given a series order to “The Hunting Party,” a drama series from JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn.
Per the official logline, “The Hunting Party” is “a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.”
“The Hunting Party” is produced by Universal Television. Bailey, who is under an overall deal at the studio, created the series and wrote the pilot. He serves as co-showrunner and executive producer along with Coburn, who has a first-look deal with Utv.
This is Bailey’s first series order since entering his Utv deal in 2022, though he previously set up drama pilot “Echo” at NBC. Though the series never made it to air, it was set to star “Veep” actor...

An Academy Award nomination wasn’t on Sterling K. Brown’s bingo card for 2024.
In fact, when he heard the news, albeit a bit delayed, on Jan. 23, his response, he tells THR, was, “Well, I’ll be damned.”
Winning an Oscar, however, was always a dream of the actor’s and part of a long-term goal of one day becoming an Egot. That desire grew out of his winning three Primetime Emmy Awards, first in 2016 for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series or movie for his portrayal of Christopher Darden in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, again in 2017 for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role as Randall Pearson in This Is Us, and, most recently, in 2021 for outstanding narrator for Lincoln: Divided We Stand.

Sterling K. Brown is no stranger when it comes to great material. The three-time Emmy winner starred for six seasons on “This Is Us” and has appeared in acclaimed films like “Black Panther” and “Waves” during the last five years alone. But reading the script for “American Fiction” while traveling to Europe for a family vacation with his wife, actress Ryan Michelle Bathe, just hit differently, Brown tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview.
“I was reading the script. And I was like, ‘Ryan, this was really f–king good.’ And she was like, ‘Really?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah. It’s got Black people in it, and we are doing stuff that people don’t normally see Black people do – like just living life. The Endgame cast stars in a crime heist drama that faced the challenge of bringing something truly new to the concept of the heist, a genre that's beginning to redefine the meaning of overplayed. Thankfully, the cast as well as the story of The Endgame seem up to the job of standing out despite being yet another story about a heist. In The Endgame, criminal mastermind Elena Federova is already in custody, yet somehow stays two steps ahead of FBI agent Val Turner. As Elena slowly unveils her plans, she also upends the personal lives of Val and the other law enforcers around her.
Unwilling to cooperate with her captors, Elena remains silent about the real reason why she's targeted several banks, as flashbacks from Elena's past paint a clearer picture of her true motives. The Endgame may be another heist crime drama, but its story puts it in the...

Bette Midler is finally revealing why “The First Wives Club” didn’t get a second shot.
The classic 1996 film starred Midler, Diane Keaton, and Goldie Hawn as a trio of jilted women who seek revenge on their respective former spouses. Midler’s “Hocus Pocus 2” co-star Sarah Jessica Parker played the mistress Midler’s husband (Dan Hedaya) was cheating with in the film.
Stockard Channing, Maggie Smith, Rob Reiner, Marcia Gay Harden, Victor Garberm Timothy Olyphant, J.K. Simmons, Jon Stewart, and Gloria Steinem also starred. Based on the 1992 novel by Olivia Goldsmith, the Hugh Wilson-directed comedy grossed 180 million at the global box office. It was nominated for an Oscar for Best Music.
Now, over 25 years later, Midler opened up about why the studio did not greenlight a sequel.
“I used to lobby for ‘First Wives Club 2,’ but there were political reasons they didn’t want to do that again.
