Paradise took the world by storm upon its premiere earlier this year, and now series creator Dan Fogelman has just shared a huge update on Season 2. Paradise was renewed for a second season before the conclusion of the first, a major show of faith from Hulu and FX. The series performed exceptionally well during its first season with high viewership and largely positive reception – it’s currently holding steady with scores of 87% from critics and 83% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. Paradise creator Dan Fogelman and star Sterling K. Brown, who plays agent Xavier Collins in the series, recently sat down for an interview with Deadline, and Fogelman was asked if he could share any updates on Season 2, which has been in production since late March:

"I’m literally finishing the finale right now of Season 2, writing. I also just got the first episodes of the edits and it’s so good.

Shailene Woodley was the first new star confirmed to join the Paradise Season 2 cast, and now creator Dan Fogelman has just revealed a crucial detail about her character and the upcoming season of the hit Hulu series. Paradise Season 1 follows Agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) as he investigates the murder of President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) and also reconciles with living in a post-apocalyptic bunker beneath a mountain. Except for flashbacks, Paradise Season 1 takes place entirely under the mountain in Colorado, but Fogelman teased that Season 2 will have a different format.

Fogelman and Brown recently took part in an interview with Deadline, and the creator was asked if they could share any details about who Woodley is playing in Season 2. The creator confirmed that it’s “somebody who’s not from the bunker,” and also went into detail about what fans can expect to see in Season 2:

Brown plays the protagonist Xavier Collins and is an executive producer for the hit Hulu series helmed by This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman. Paradise season 1 ended with Xavier leaving the underground community behind and heading to the outside world to find his wife, Teri Rogers-Collins (Enuka Okuma), after learning about her survival.

According to Variety, Brown's real-life wife, Bathé, has now been cast as a guest star in Paradise season 2. Details about her character have not been revealed yet. After the season 1 finale aired on March 4, there was a quick turnaround to filming the next season, with Fogelman posting that filming had begun on March 28. The Motion Picture & Television Fund raised more than $4.3 million at its 22nd annual star-studded benefit on Saturday night.

The exclusive event was co-chaired by Sterling K. Brown and Ryan Michelle Bathé, America Ferrera and Ryan Piers-Williams, Jodie Foster and Paul Giamatti.

Funds raised from the event will be used to support industry members and their families who benefit from MPTF’s charitable programs and services, such as financial assistance, crisis counseling, caregiving support and residency on the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills, which now serves as “home” to many television and film veterans. During the recent work stoppages, MPTF received over 13,000 calls for aid and provided more than $8 million in charitable financial assistance.

NBC has given a series order to “The Hunting Party,” a drama series from JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn.

Per the official logline, “The Hunting Party” is “a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.”

“The Hunting Party” is produced by Universal Television. Bailey, who is under an overall deal at the studio, created the series and wrote the pilot. He serves as co-showrunner and executive producer along with Coburn, who has a first-look deal with Utv.

This is Bailey’s first series order since entering his Utv deal in 2022, though he previously set up drama pilot “Echo” at NBC. Though the series never made it to air, it was set to star “Veep” actor...

“Superfan,” a one-hour unscripted CBS game show that features diehard fans of six music superstars, including Gloria Estefan and LL Cool J, competing to be crowned that musician’s “superfan.”

The six-episode series will debut on Friday, June 9 at 8:00 p.m. Et/Pt on CBS, and will also be available to stream live and on demand on the CBS app and Paramount+, the network announced on Tuesday.

The series will feature contestants going head to head in multiple rounds of play to prove they are their favorite artist’s most devoted supporter. The winner will receive a handpicked prize from that episode’s star.

Confirmed musical artists for the first season are Kelsea Ballerini, Gloria Estefan, Little Big Town, LL Cool J, Pitbull and Shania Twain.

Ryan Michelle Bathé has been cast as the wife of Terry Crew’s cop character in CBS’ comedy pilot based on the “JumpStart” comic strip, a rep for the actress told TheWrap on Wednesday.

Her character, Marcy, is described as “a hard-working nurse who is naturally maternal and wise beyond her years. She and Joe share a close bond and are supportive of one another even when they don’t agree. The two have a good life in their middle-class Philly neighborhood with their two teen kids — meeting all challenges, and enjoying their share of goofy times as well.”

Season 5 finds Midge Maisel as close to the success she’s been working towards while still a long way off. Previously, she had burnt bridges and been cut from tour, with the season ending on the star in front of Carnegie Hall, reinvigorated to chase her dreams.

Its second season averaged only 2.1 million total weekly viewers and a 0.35 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), a steep drop from its first-season freshman numbers (2.9 million/0.6).

“The Endgame,” which starred Morena Baccarin and Ryan Michelle Bathe, premiered at the end of February to a 0.4 rating in the 18 to 49 demo and 3.2 million total viewers.
