Cynthia Erivo to Receive the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s Kirk Douglas Award
Image
Cynthia Erivo is one Oscar away from an Egot. Until then, she can add another award under her belt: the Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence in Film.

Erivo will receive the 18th annual Kirk Douglas Award from the Santa Barbara International Film Festival during a Dec. 4 ceremony at the Ritz-Carlton Bacara. This function doubles as a fundraiser for year-long Sbiff educational programs.

The Kirk Douglas Award For Excellence in Film is a career achievement award bestowed upon individuals who dedicate their lives to both on- and off-camera cinematic contributions. Past recipients include Dame Judi Dench, Jane Fonda, Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, Martin Scorsese and Michelle Yeoh. Both Kirk Douglas and Michael Douglas have received the award, with Kirk being the inaugural recipient in 2006.

Kirk died at the age of 103 in Feb. 2020, making Erivo the fourth recipient since his passing.

“Cynthia Erivo is a singular talent whose depth, range,...

‘The Waterfront’ Season 2 Theories: Will The Buckleys Kill The Parkers?
Image
The Waterfront Season 1 was largely about the rise and fall of the partnership between the Buckleys and Grady. The Buckleys used to smuggle drugs for the Parkers, but when Beau died, his son, Harlan, decided to move away from that business and focus on fishing. However, as soon as Harlan temporarily retired due to his heart condition, Cane, his son, restarted their side hustle of transporting drugs in an attempt to stabilize their financial situation. This brought the Buckleys in contact with Grady, the number one heroin producer around. While things were going fine between the 2 parties, Grady’s daddy issues reared their ugly head, and he threatened to kill Bree (Harlan’s daughter) and Diller (Bree’s son) if Harlan didn’t do his bidding, thereby prompting Cane to kill him. Since Grady was a nuisance, his death came as a relief to all parties involved. However, he didn...

The Waterfront Episode 3 Recap: Is Clyde Porter Dead?
Image
At this point Netflix’s The Waterfront is jumping through cliffhangers with each passing episode, not that I am complaining, as the series seems quite engaging so far. The second episode ended on a shocking note, leaving Peyton’s fate in question as she was attacked by a couple of thugs and was nearly set on fire. However, the thugs were instructed to send a message by threatening the Buckleys and not to kill anyone in the process, and as The Waterfront episode 3 begins, the crooks leave after putting out the gasoline-fire trail. Soon enough, the Buckleys arrive at the scene. Isabelle and Bree comfort Peyton while Harlan suspects Sheriff Porter to be the one behind the attack and promises Cane to take care of the situation. The incident reasonably causes a rift between Cane and Peyton, as the latter realizes her husband’s recent dealings and increased tension with...

The Waterfront season 1 episode 3 recap: Harlan's power struggle turns deadly
Image
This post contains spoilers from The Waterfront season 1 episode 3 from this point forward.

The fiery cliffhanger from episode 2 continues as The Waterfront season 1 episode 3 picks up right were we left off, with Peyton being doused in gasoline and a match lighting a fire toward her. The man puts out the fire before it can reach her, but the threat of being burned alive, a threat that's for Cane, scares Peyton to her core. She's mad at Cane, for good reason, but he and Harlan are certain Owen (Sheriff Porter) was behind the attack.

Harlan pays the sheriff a visit, and he plays dumb, but he seems to show his cards when Harlan refuses to complete more runs until he meets Grady. As Peyton ices out Cane, Bree compares notes with Marcus to plot their next move in the case. Let's not forget about the other cliffhanger that was dropped in...

‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Episode 4 Recap & Ending Explained: Did Lamont Kill Gator Joe?
Image
Poker Face returned to the small screen with a second season last week, and we got three new episodes of the show. We learned that Charlie was on the run from Beatrix’s henchmen and saw her efforts to escape their clutches bring her to the quintuplets, Amber, Delia, Cece, Bebe, and Felicity. After solving the murder of Felicity and putting a stop to the scam that Amber was running, Charlie moved on to another case, which involved the murder of Greta at the hands of her husband, Fred. She barely made it out of there alive, only to be caught in the middle of an FBI operation being run by Luca to catch Beatrix and a counter-fbi operation being run by Beatrix to weed out the rat on her team. Eventually, Charlie found out that Beatrix’s husband, Jeffrey, was the rat, and Luca’s friend and colleague, Danny,...

Cynthia Erivo Shares Details On Playing Five Different Characters For Poker Face Season 2, Including Her Favorite To Play
Image
The following contains spoilers for Poker Face season 2, episode 1.Cynthia Erivo, who played five characters in Poker Face season 2 premiere, talked about what the experience was like for her. In the episode titled "The Game Is a Foot," the star was tasked to play quintuplets Amber, Bebe, Cece, Delia, and Felicity. The first four sisters parted ways after playing the same role as child actors, and Felicity, the fifth sister, being kept a secret, inherited all their mother's wealth.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Erivo broke down how she portrayed five characters in Poker Face season 2, episode 1. The actor revealed that she was drawn to the role because of the challenge. In addition to treating each sister as a unique character and preparing them one by one, she switched "back and forth from different characters throughout the whole entire day" during filming. Read her comment below:

‘Poker Face’ Season 2: Costume Designing Wicked Looks for Cynthia Erivo’s Quintuplets
Image
“Poker Face” Season 2 kicks off with “The Game Is a Foot”, guest starring Cynthia Erivo as the Kazinsky quintuplets. This tour de force not only demanded a wardrobe merry-go-round from costume designer Leah Katznelson (“Feud: Capote vs. the Swans”), but also pushed detective Charlie Cale’s (Nathasha Lyonne) reliable Bs detector into overdrive when solving two murders.

Erivo, who shot the episode (written and directed by creator Rian Johnson) in 10 hectic days during her “Wicked” New York press tour, plays four sisters who starred as teenagers in the hit action TV series, “Kid Cop Nights,” but have turned into wildly different people. Amber, who sculpts portraitures and takes care of their sick mom; Delia, who manages an apple farm where Charlie hides out; Bebe, who’s a free spirited DJ; and Cece, who’s a comparative lit professor. Erivo additionally portrays secret fifth sister, Felicity, a respected mixed-media artist, who...

How Fragrances Helped Cynthia Erivo Find Her Way Through Five Characters on ‘Poker Face’
Image
[Editor’s Note: This article contains spoilers for “Poker Face” Season 2, Episode 1, “The Game Is a Foot.”]

Unlike Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne), who is probably unbanked even as she keeps solving crimes across America, “Poker Face” has a lot of checks it needs to cash each episode. Season 2 of the Peacock series kicks off with a huge logistical challenge of a single actor portraying multiple characters, as Cynthia Erivo steps into the role of all four Kazinsky sisters.

Charlie encounters these former child actors now living in various states of desperation, from struggling Etsy artist/caregiver Amber to DJ Bebe to college professor Cece to orchard manager Delia — and a surprise fifth sister, Felicity, living off the grid as a successful mixed-media artist. Well, living in the present tense is perhaps being a bit presumptuous for Felicity, but which sister murdered whom and is now impersonating them is for Charlie to sort out.

What the filmmakers needed to...

‘Poker Face’: How Old Hollywood Camera Tricks Were Used to Create Cynthia Erivo’s Quintuplets
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from “The Game Is a Foot” Season 2, Episode 1 of “Poker Face,” now streaming on Peacock.

“Poker Face” writer Laura Deeley came up with the idea of featuring identical quintuplets for an episode of the whodunit series, and creator and director Rian Johnson thought it was “batshit insane in all the best ways.” But he wanted to give it a shot.

Johnson didn’t want to use anything fancy to pull it off. He wanted to dig into what a “Poker Face” episode looks like, and maintain that vintage aesthetic that had been established in Season 1 — but he wanted to use old-school camera trickery when it came to filming. Johnson says, “To me, that meant making sure we’re making every ounce of ‘What’s Up Doc?’ and French farce-like in one door, out the other, near misses and pretending to be different people.”

It...

Poker Face season 2 episode 1 recap and review: Cynthia Erivo flaunts her acting depth
Image
Poker Face is back and better than ever with the female Columbo efforts of Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne). It’s a drama, it’s a comedy, and honestly just a fun show to watch. You always know Cale is going to solve the case, but Natasha Lyonne has a slick coolness to her topped off with humorous sarcasm along the way. It’s no surprise to anyone why Poker Face season 2 on Peacock of the series holds a strong 100 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. After the success of the first season, creator Rian Johnson has made the second must-watch television.

Charlie is back on the run from the five families. Literally dodging Beatrix Hasps’ bullets at every turn. On the journey in the second season Charlie meets fascinating characters and solves countless mysteries. You’ll see a handful of familiar faces as Poker Face carries a long list of celebrity guest stars like John Mulaney,...

‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Episode 2 Recap: Is Fred Dead Or Alive?
Image
In the first episode of Poker Face Season 2, we saw that Charlie was on the run from Beatrix, causing her to switch jobs and jump from town to town. Eventually, she landed a position at an apple orchard, where she befriended one of the former stars of Kid Cop Night, Delia, with the other stars being her identical siblings, Cece, Bebe, and Amber. When news of their mother Norma’s death reached Delia, she took Charlie to her house because she didn’t want to deal with her sisters on her own. Of course, it wasn’t a simple wake, as Amber had killed their secret fifth sister, Felicity, and assumed her identity (because they all looked alike) after learning that Norma had made Felicity her sole inheritor. After a lot of trickery, Charlie obviously figured out that Amber was lying and had her arrested. The inheritance money was divided...

‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: Was Amber Arrested?
Image
The overarching plot of Season 1 of Poker Face was largely about Charlie Cale running from Cliff LeGrand, who had been employed by Sterling Frost to catch her, apparently because she was instrumental in the death of his son, Sterling Frost Jr. So, for more than a year, Charlie kept hopping from town to town, solving murder mysteries with her innate ability to detect a lie, with Cliff on her tail. When she was trying to get out of the Colorado Mountains, she was grievously wounded by a murderer named Trey Nelson and subsequently hospitalized. Cliff finally captured her and presented her to Sterling, and that was where the old timer revealed that he didn’t want to kill her; he wanted to bring her into the fold and utilize her skills in a meeting with Beatrix Hasp and the Five Families. However, before that could happen, Cliff killed Sterling, on Beatrix’s orders,...

Bebe Rexha Reveals Pregnancy Loss Amid Brutal Feud With Azealia Banks
Image
Reading Time: 3 minutes

The 2025 Met Gala took place on Monday night, and as usual, social media was loaded with amateur fashion critics eager to throw shade at the assembled A-listers.

Most of the commentary came from anonymous trolls, but one of the most outspoken haters of the night was none other than Azealia Banks.

For the uninitiated, Azealia is a (former?) rapper turned X/Twitter personality whose sharp tongue and unpredictable takes have earned her a massive following.

You might remember her from such blistering tirades as “Kanye is secretly diabetic, and his tantrums are the result of low blood sugar.”

Ted Danson, Shelley Long, John Ratzenberger, George Wendt, Nicholas Colasanto, and Rhea Perlman in Cheers (1982)
Frasier | Sitcom revival cancelled by Paramount+
Ted Danson, Shelley Long, John Ratzenberger, George Wendt, Nicholas Colasanto, and Rhea Perlman in Cheers (1982)
Paramount+ has cancelled the revived version of Frasier after two series. The show is now being shopped to other networks.

Frasier is undoubtably one of the most beloved American sitcoms of all time. Spun-off from Cheers, itself an 11 season American institution, Frasier had some of the wittiest writing on television, elevated by the magnificent casting of David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s equally fastidious brother Niles.

Along with the much missed John Mahoney as their dad, Martin, Jane Leeves as housekeeper Daphne Moon and Peri Gilpin as acerbic producer Roz Doyle, over 11 seasons the show became embedded in American culture.

According to Deadline, Paramount+ has decided not to move forward with a third series. One of the reasons given is that the show “could not break through in a major way on Paramount+”.

However, the creative team are shopping the show to other networks. There may yet be a future for the show.

‘Rita’ Movie Ending Explained & True Story: What Happens To The Angels?
Image
Jayro Bustamante’s creative choice to tell a very real, utterly horrifying story by infusing magic realism into it may seem odd at first. But Rita’s subject matter would’ve been too disturbing to translate on screen had it not been enveloped by that fairytale factor. Hell, it might even have proved way too much for the young girls who star in Bustamante’s film about a Guatemalan tragedy, especially considering that most of these girls were debuting with this film. Rita is a harrowing reminder of what happened to the children in Virgen de la Asuncion, a state-run safe house that was supposed to be a sanctuary for kids who had no one outside.

Spoiler Alert

What happens in the film?

Growing up in a household with a father who molested her and a mother who turned a blind eye didn’t leave much space for Rita to still believe in happy endings.

Frasier Season 3 Really Needs To Pay Off The Reboot's Biggest Unused Tease Following Bebe Glazer's Return
Image
Warning: this article includes some spoilers for Frasier season 2.

After the Frasier season 2 reboot, it's clear that the show needs to take advantage of a story set up by Bebe Glazer's recent return. Frasier season 2 continued Frasier's new life back in Boston with his son, Freddy, along with Olivia, Eve, David, and Alan. The group's dynamics are often wholesome, funny, and, at times, cringe-worthy as their lives continue to change, much like the original Frasier and its predecessor, Cheers.

However, another season would give Frasier a chance to expand the characters and plot further while paying homage to its predecessors. Specifically, there is one crucial part of Frasier's character that has yet to make a comeback in seasons 1 and 2 of the reboot. While season 3 is not yet confirmed, Frasier season 2's ending leaves room for plenty of new storylines in the future, including a chance for Bebe Glazer to...

One Frasier Episode Was Seemingly Banned From Airing In The United Kingdom
Image
"Frasier" is one of those shows that's so inoffensive and comforting that it's strange to think an episode could be banned from airing. The original show, which ran from 1993 to 2004, followed Kelsey Grammer's fussy yet lovable psychiatrist as he hosted a talk radio show in his native Seattle. But the series was really about Frasier and his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) reconnecting with their blue collar father, Martin (the late John Mahoney) — there's a reason, after all, that Frasier, Niles, and Martin are the only characters appear in all 263 episodes of "Frasier." While the series was a sitcom, then, it had a lot more depth to it than others of its kind.

Right from the off, the show established this formula of humor and heart. The "Frasier" pilot — an episode that Hyde Pierce thought was "terrible" at first — saw Martin move in with his son, only for the...

Frasier Season 2 Proves Freddy & Eve Shouldn't Be The Reboot's Niles & Daphne Replacement
Image
Freddy Crane and his friend Eve have a compelling relationship in the reboot of Frasier, but they shouldn't be Niles and Daphne's replacement. As Eve struggles to raise her child following the death of her husband, Adam, she and Freddy have conveyed their unbreakable bond as they lean on each other for support in this dark phase of their lives. This dynamic has made them some of the most entertaining characters in the Frasier reboot.

Freddy and Eve may seem destined for a romantic relationship. However, their recent adventures together, particularly in Frasier season 2, show they are far better off as friends, at least for now. Though 2023's Frasier reboot likely won't feature a couple as electric as Niles and Daphne, Freddy falling in love with another character may be what the series needs to reinvigorate the franchise.

Frasier's Big Roz Update Is A Step Closer To Making Peri Gilpin A Permanent Part Of The Show, And It's Exactly What The Reboot Needs
Image
While the Frasier reboot mainly features a cast of new characters, Dr. Crane's former Kacl radio colleague Roz Doyle could end up becoming a mainstay of the series once more. Played by actor Peri Gilpin, Roz has made frequent appearances in the reboot ever since visiting her old friend for Christmas in the Frasier season 1 finale. Given Roz's growing presence in Frasier season 2, Gilpin may be gearing up to join the Frasier reboot cast as a main character in the Boston setting.

Aside from Freddy Crane (Jack Cutmore-Scott), Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) is the only character from the original show who is a part of the reboot's central cast for the first two seasons. However, should Roz become a player in Frasier's daily routine once more, the reboot could take another big step towards recapturing the magic that made the original Frasier such a popular sitcom.

Mrs. Doubtfire & Jumanji Streaming Now on Tubi
Image
Fans of Robin Williams will be able to sit down and enjoy two of his much-loved movies from the 1990s thanks to Mrs. Doubtfire and Jumanji joining the Tubi library. The comedy movies are among the most beloved of Williams career, and now another generation can discover his genius for themselves without having to spend a dime.

In 1993, Williams gave one of his greatest comedy performances in Mrs. Doubtfire, playing divorcee Daniel, who disguises himself as a nanny in order to be able to see his children. While there are those who will say the movie is dated, it is hard to see the film as anything other than a hilarious, and often poignant, story about the lengths a parent will go to in order to be close to their children. In contrast, 1995s Jumanji is a rollicking adventure comedy in which Williams plays Alan Parrish, a man who has...

Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe reunited with Dr. Crane on his trip back to Seattle in Frasier season 2, episode 8. Their reunion surprisingly confirmed that Bulldog is actually gay. Played by actor Dan Butler, this former sports show host was infamous for his womanizing and for annoying Frasier and his peers, eventually becoming a main character in the series in season 6.

In the episode, Bulldog's sexuality is brought to light when Roz says, "someone finally came out of the closet." This prompted a moment of confusion, until it became clear that Roz was referring to a decision that Bulldog apparently made sometime after the original show's ending. This series has dabbled with featuring returning characters from the original Frasier before, bringing back fan favorites like Roz and Bebe Glazer.

New evidence uncovered during a police investigation into the attack has led to two new additional charges, including one charge under the Terrorism Act.

Bebe Glazer's Return In Frasier Season 2 Exposes A Harsh Reality For The Reboot Show
Image
Warning: This article contains Spoilers for 2023's Frasier

Since Frasier is one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, it was no surprise that Paramount+ rebooted the series in 2023. While lead star Kelsey Grammer hasn't lost his touch as protagonist Frasier Crane, the Frasier reboot's new characters have struggled to bring the show back to its glory days without most of the original characters joining them, at least for the most part.

Actor Harriet Samson Harris made a show-stealing appearance in Frasier season 2, episode 5, as Bebe Glazer, Frasier's fiendish agent and former romantic interest. When Bebe visits Frasier to discuss his new memoir, the reboot opens Pandora's box as the former continues messing with her client. Unfortunately, Bebe also proves that 2023's Frasier reboot doesn't reach the same heights as its predecessor and relies on the original cast to appeal to audiences.

'Unfinished Business': Frasier Reboot Producer Explains Dr. Crane's Return to Seattle
Image
Frasier sees Kelsey Grammer's central character handle some "unfinished business" in Seattle as the sitcom returns to its original home. Grammer and the revival's executive producer, Chris Harris, reveal why they felt the time was right for Dr. Crane to return to the Northwest.

Speaking with The Seattle Times, Frasier reboot producer and co-creator Chris Harris addressed the idea behind Season 2, Episode 8, "Thank You, Dr. Crane," which sees Frasier revisit his famous Kacl booth one more time in an emotional Og reunion. According to Harris, Grammer felt the revival needed to return to its spiritual home, having "romanticized" Seattle and wanted to tie up some loose ends from the original series. Kelsey felt like (Frasier) had some unfinished business there, Harris said. It kind of feels like (Frasier) romanticized Seattle in his head, but obviously, its just not the same place. Finding an organic reason to go to Seattle...

Ted Danson Settles Decade-Spanning Dispute With Cheers Co-Star Kelsey Grammer
Image
Cheers co-stars Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer have opened up about a spat the two had while appearing on the Emmy Award-winning comedy series. During the October 23 episode Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (Sometimes), Danson apologized to a Grammer for an argument they had during Cheers' run. While the two did not elaborate on details surrounding the disagreement, Danson accepted blame and apologized to the Fraiser star:

"I feel like I got stuck a little bit with you during the Cheers years. I have a memory of getting angry at you once and it stuck in both of our memories, but I feel like F---, I don't know, I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer. I feel like it's my bad, my doing, and I almost feel like apologizing to you. No, I don't feel like, I apologize to you and...

How Frasier's Daytime Talk Show Could Return In The Revival, According To The Producers
Image
The "Frasier" revival has had some undeniable highs, but it's also had some unequivocal lows. As Paramount's reboot has attempted to move Kelsey Grammer's snooty psychiatrist into the streaming age, it has managed to both preserve aspects of what made Dr. Crane so beloved, and introduce some questionable developments into "Frasier" lore.

Case in point: the season one episode of the revival that saw Frasier at the center of an "Oprah" and "Dr. Phil" parody. Episode three of the new series revealed that, during the 20 year break between the original "Frasier," which wrapped up in 2004, and the revival show, everyone's favorite celebrity psychiatrist had given in to his worst impulses and fronted a "Dr. Phil"-style TV talk show, creatively named "Dr. Crane." The show saw its host dressing up in ridiculous outfits, karate chopping "negative self-talk" signs, delivering a segment entitled "Frasier's 'Fra-vorite' Things," and interviewing the world's smartest pig,...

Lifetime’s Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce-inspired holiday movie has released its first look.

Lifetime announced its full holiday schedule Tuesday, and it includes Christmas in the Spotlight, starring Jessica Lord, Laith Wallschleger, Jeannie Mai and Haley Kalil. After Drew publicly declares he has a crush on Bowyn, they begin dating.

Weve Set The Groundwork: Frasiers Talk Show Returning In The Reboot Addressed By EPs
Image
Frasier executive producers Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris address the chances of Dr. Crane's daytime talk show returning in the reboot. Premiered in 2023, the reboot follows the titular psychiatrist as, after the death of his father and the end of his nearly 20-year relationship with Charlotte, moves back to Boston to better his relationship with his son Frederick, now a firefighter. Also, during the years between the original series and the reboot, Frasier hosted a famous daytime television show in Chicago after leaving his radio show in Seattle.

In a recent interview with TV Insider, executive producers Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris addressed the chances of Frasier's daytime talk show returning in the reboot. Cristalli hints that it's possible, especially after they've "set the groundwork" with the return of his agent Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris), and her daughter Phoebe (Rachel Bloom), who could trick Frasier into doing the show again.

'It Would Be Fun': Frasier Reboot Producers Tease Potential Return of Title Character's Talk Show
Image
The following contains spoilers for the Frasier reboot Season 2, Episode 5, "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father," now available on Paramount+.

The Frasier reboot could see Kelsey Grammer's lead character return to the talk show circuit, despite starting a new career in his Boston return. The revival series' producers tease the possibility, claiming it would be "fun" if Dr. Crane did daytime television again.

Speaking with TV Insider, Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli were asked what it would take for Frasier Crane to host a talk show again on the reboot. While the series creators aren't sure if it will happen, the return of Frasier's devious agent Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris) alongside her daughter Phoebe (Rachel Bloom) could be the driving force that makes it happen. I dont know, Cristalli said. It would be fun to see him do that show again at some point. Weve set the groundwork for them to trick him,...

Frasier Stars, EPs Talk Bebe Glazer’s Grand Return, Rachel Bloom’s ‘Terrific’ Turn as Her Daughter Phoebe
Image
Our favorite Frasier character is back… and she’s brought reinforcements.

Harriet Sansom Harris reprised her role as Frasier’s ruthless agent Bebe Glazer in Thursday’s episode, trying her best to talk Frasier into returning to his lucrative TV talk show. She also introduced Frasier to her daughter Phoebe (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’s Rachel Bloom), who hit it off right away with Frasier thanks to their shared love of opera and musical theater. Frasier even started to think that Phoebe might be his daughter (!) after a mid-’90s tryst with Bebe, but he later discovered Phoebe was faking their...

Frasier Just Brought Back One Of The Best Recurring Characters From The Original Series
Image
Even while the "Frasier" revival has struggled to match the original series, which ran from 1993 to 2004, the show is punctuated by moments of real charm. Most of those come as the result of pure jolts of nostalgia: the show is at its best when it brings in elements of its unimpeachably great predecessor.

Episode three of the "Frasier" revival was bittersweet for this very reason, bringing back Peri Gilpin as Frasier's former producer Roz Doyle and delivering one of the best installments of the reboot yet. Now, the revival has proven once again that all we really want to see is Frasier back with the characters we know and love. But this time, it isn't a main character that's restoring the charm to "Frasier."

It's not just that the original ensemble cast of "Frasier" provided the perfect support to Kelsey Grammer's fussy psychiatrist. The show also had some of the best recurring characters,...

Will ‘Frasier’ Revive His Daytime Talk Show? Inside Bebe & Daughter Phoebe’s Manipulations
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Frasier Season 2 Episode 5 “The Squash Courtship of Freddy’s Father.”] Does Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) have another child?! That’s what he wonders in the latest episode of the Frasier revival (now streaming on Paramount+), after his agent Bebe (Harriet Sansom Harris), comes to visit with her daughter, Phoebe (Rachel Bloom), who is very similar to him. Bebe plays that up, until it’s revealed that it was all a ploy: Phoebe tries to get him to move to Bushwick to spend time together … and that just so happens to be where Bebe wants him to be, to revive his daytime talk show. Phoebe just pretended to share similar interests because she wants to be his agent after loving his memoir (about which Niles sent many notes). Frasier insists she be added to his team but swears he’ll never revive his show. However, after Frasier leaves, Bebe and Phoebe reveal...

Frasier Season 2 Brings Back a Fan-Favorite Original Series Character
Image
The following contains major spoilers from Frasier Season 2, Episode 5, "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father," now streaming on Paramount+.

The Frasier revival has gone down some emotional paths recently -- so who better than Bebe Glazer to shake everything up? Frasier Season 2, Episode 5, "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father" features the return of another original series character, and it's the perfect way to throw everything into chaos and provide the more broad comedy that the previous episodes stepped back from. In fact, it has plot twists so absurd that it's the most insane half-hour of the Paramount+ series yet.

"The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father" starts in an almost painfully familiar place: Frasier worries that he has nothing in common with his son Freddy, and is determined to fix that -- whether Freddy likes it or not. But what seems like a "been there, done that" is spiced up when...

The Frasier Revival Continues A Salacious Storyline From The Original Series
Image
This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Frasier."

Throughout "Frasier" and its 1993-2004 run, one of the best recurring characters was Harriet Sansom Harris' Bebe Glazer. An unscrupulous, shrewish agent who Niles (David Hyde Pierce) once described as "Lady Macbeth without the sincerity," Bebe was always bringing some sort of media deal to Frasier that threatened to undermine his integrity while netting him (and Bebe) a large paycheck. But while she was conniving, manipulative, and often just flat-out ridiculous, Frasier's agent always maintained a dogged commitment to her client.

In order to do what she thought was best for Frasier, however, she would often come up with some of the most absurd schemes ever seen on the show. "Frasier" frequently dabbled in farce, which made for some delightfully unlikely scenarios. But whenever Bebe showed up, you knew the limits of credulity were about to be stretched even further.

Frasier Season 2 Episode 5 Review: The Squash Courtship Of Freddy’s Father
Image
Good news: no guest star was wasted on Frasier Season 2 Episode 5, and even David got a coherent storyline.

The show fired on all cylinders in this smoothly choreographed outing that showcased Pretentious Frasier, Selfish Frasier, and Bebe, his evil agent extraordinaire!

This episode was the very definition of a delightful romp. It played to each character’s strengths and also allowed us to spend time with the flawless Rachel Bloom.

(Chris Haston/Paramount+)

The episode was witty, tightly plotted, and self-assured in a way that I was afraid we might never again see on this show.

Luckily, this episode contained a ton of sparkling storylines, so let’s dive in!

Frasier Writes A Memoir On Frasier Season 2 Episode 5

Frasier is never funnier than when he’s in the throes of an ambitious but doomed project. In this case, it was a memoir, and he enlisted his friend group to read the first draft.

‘Frasier’ EPs, Stars Tease a ‘More Fun’ – ‘Sometimes Convoluted’ – Season 2
Image
Whenever a beloved show like “Frasier” is revived, it’s easy to anticipate skepticism from the original iteration’s diehard fans, given the challenges of living up to its predecessor with new characters and storylines.

But with the first installment of the Paramount+ series under their belts — and the show set to return for Season 2 this week — co-showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris told TheWrap they’re feeling less pressured and more excited for an “even more fun” and “sometimes convoluted” new set of stories.

“The first season was really about catching us up with Frasier, where he is in life, and establishing the world and introducing these characters to everyone,” Harris explained. ‘In Season 2, we’ve had a lot more fun playing with these characters and showing their interactions with each other. It’s really just deepening the world and a couple things that we held back on in the first season.

Kelsey Grammer Teases Past Frasier Characters & Locations That Could Come Back In Future Seasons
Image
Kelsey Grammer, along with showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, tease past characters and locations that could return in future seasons of Frasier.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Grammer and showrunners shared who else they would like to see return in Frasier:

Kelsey Grammer: Yeah, we've targeted a couple. It's probably not very wise for me to say them, but there's a couple of really quirky ones, even. I could probably say this. I just thought of this yesterday. I was at a place in New Jersey called Crystal Springs, that very few people know is the connection for the character Kirby. Kirby was Jean Smart's son on the show. And he dated a girl who Niles and Frasier thought might be the heiress to the Mulvihill Wine Cellar. The Mulvihill Wine Cellar actually exists at Crystal Springs, so I think I may take Christopher Lloyd...

Frasier Season 2 TV Review: The classic sitcom revival keeps getting funnier
Image
Plot: Frasier Crane is in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships and—with hope— finally fulfill an old dream or two. The sophomore season will see Dr. Frasier Crane return to his radio roots at Kacl in a Seattle-themed episode. The series is filmed in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

Review: While many of you may feel that Frasier is too old school, we love the series here at JoBlo.com. The revival of the Cheers spin-off was a refreshingly retro sitcom filmed in front of a studio audience that, while familiar, was better than many other recent series returning to the airwaves. After a ten-episode first season knocked any dust off the character of Frasier Crane, the season two run jumps right into the screwball shenanigans that have always made the...
