‘Kaiju No. 8’ Season 2 Has Finally Set a Release Date — And It’s Sooner Than You Think
Image
Fans of Kaiju No. 8 already knew that their favorite anime series was going to return this summer. They were still missing a specific release date, though, and that finally changed this weekend. The official Kaiju No.8 website and Crunchyroll confirmed that the show locked in a release date for the next month: Season 2 is debuting on July 19. The announcement comes on the heels of the worldwide release of the compilation movie Kaiju No.8: Mission Recon.

This is the release date for the series in Japan, but the Crunchyroll announcement suggests that the anime streaming platform will follow the same release pattern from Season 1, with episodes released simultaneously with the Japanese exhibition. However, the streamer is yet to officially confirm that this will be the case with the new episodes. Additionally, the Kaiju No. 8 website announced that Season 2 will also stream on X/Twitter at the same time that the episodes air in Japan.

‘Kaiju No.8’ Teases a Monstrous Season 2 With New Image
Image
The premiere date of Kaiju No.8 Season 2 is closer than ever, which means that fans are more than ready to get hyped up with any new information that gets released. This week, Anime TV underscored that the hit anime series is returning for Season 2 this July and did it with a new image that has already sparked speculation. A specific release date for the new season is yet to be announced.

The image suggests a change of pace for Kaiju No. 8. The show is usually frantic, but the image depicts a quiet moment. It shows protagonist Kafka Hibino (voiced by Masaya Fukunishi in the original Japanese and by Nazeeh Tarsha in the English dub) enjoying a snack while crouching down at a pier with the wind blowing by several fish-shaped balloons. Will the new season give Kafka some breathing room or is it just one rare moment that gets...

10 Controversial Anime Endings That Still Aren't As Bad As Game of Thrones Season 8
Image
There have been plenty of anime endings that have a reputation for being polarizing. This could come for several reasons. Viewers may feel disappointed that the characters didn't get enough time to grow, or that the anime alters material from its manga to move in a new direction. Whatever the case is, plenty of these controversial endings still aren't nearly as bad as the conclusion to Season 8 of Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones' ending will forever live in infamy for how it disappointed fans of the series. With several characters acting out of character, poor pacing, and messy resolution, it's easy to see why viewers felt that Season 8 rushed to the finish line. In comparison, these anime endings still give decent conclusions to their franchises despite their controversial nature. These animes get a lot of criticism for their endings, but they can always be worse compared to Game of Thrones.

10 Anime That Are Masterpieces Only If You Stop Watching Early
Image
Every anime fan who's watched anime long enough will run into the same problem. They'll start watching a show, fall in love with it, and watch as it climbs to the level of a true masterpiece. Then at some point, the series will lose its way, edging it out of being considered one of the best.

For some anime, the show is still good — it's just no longer perfect. Other anime series never find their way and completely fall off. Either way, the anime world is full of series that would've been perfect if they'd ended just a little bit earlier. Or, better yet, if the viewer had given up on the show just a bit sooner.

Why Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Replaced Al's Original English Voice Actor
Image
Ah, "Fullmetal Alchemist." Hiromu Arakawa's breakout manga follows two alchemist brothers, Edward and Alphonse Elric, on a quest to find the Philosopher's Stone. They tried, and failed, to bring their dead mother Trisha back to life with alchemy — instead of regaining their mother, Ed lost his left leg and Al his whole body. (Ed then gave up his right arm to bind Al's soul to a suit of armor.). Now, only the mythic elixir can help the two brothers heal each other both in body and spirit.

It's one of my favorite anime and a key reason I think about it so often is because it's really two anime in one. Studio Bones adapted Arakawa's original "Fullmetal Alchemist" manga twice, first in 2003 then again in 2009 for a second, more faithful anime known in the West as "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood."

The two shows complement each other by being so different.

Let’s Compare Blue Lock Characters to Real Soccer Stars
Image
If you're watching Blue Lock you may be wondering if the characters are inspired by real soccer players. Does their style of play resemble famous soccer stars? The answer is yes, and I'm here to help you enjoy the anime while learning more about the beautiful game, the King of Sports. Muneyuki Kaneshiro , the writer of Blue Lock , has been quite open about the direct inspirations behind the characters. This has been revealed in an interview and the official Blue Lock Character Guide, the Egoist Bible , which spans two volumes so far. In some cases, Kaneshiro hasn’t confirmed specific parallels, but don’t worry! You're in good hands. I’m a former sports journalist with a lifelong passion for watching (and playing) soccer who's ready to draw connections to real-life players who I feel fit alongside various Blue Lock characters. Dragon Ball Daima Unveils New Cast, Bringing Surprising Stars to the Anime
Image
The official English cast for Dragon Ball Daima has finally been revealed. Ever since Dragon Ball Daima was first announced, a major question has been who would voice the characters. Naturally, the new characters would all need voice actors, but with all the returning characters being turned into children, that invited the possibility of a new cast replacing the old ones, despite their years of history with the franchise.

For Dragon Ball Daimas Japanese dub, theres a new cast of voice actors for both the new characters and the (Mini) versions of the old ones, save for Goku (Mini), who is still voiced by Masako Nozawa. For the English dub, with the first three episodes currently playing in theaters, most of the principal English voice cast for Dragon Ball Daima has finally been revealed ahead of its official release. Naturally, most of the cast is new to Dragon Ball and voice acting,...

10 Darkest Isekai Anime Series Every Fan Needs To Watch
Image
While some isekai protagonists get transported to new, fun worlds, the grass isn't always greener. Some isekai worlds are dark, brutal, and unforgiving, making the main character wish they could go back home. Dark isekai is a newer addition to the wider genre of isekai, and it doesn't have too many entrants. Most isekai series focus on the brighter side of life and give their characters fun powers in their vibrant new worlds. Dark isekai do the opposite, usually leaving the main character in a harder environment than they can initially handle.

Some characters, like Ainz from Overlord, are perfectly capable of handling the environment they're in and instead choose to be the world's villain. It's not entirely a dark world for Ainz, but it sure is for everyone who isn't his friend. Dark isekai have a unique opportunity of pitting the main character against the world their isekai'd into,...

15 Best Death Game Anime
Image
The death game genre is one of anime's most iconic, although it is often hard to pull off right. This makes the better death game shows even more beloved by their fans even as the worse ones are reviled. It also makes it often difficult for new fans of the genre to find good recommendations for it.

This is unfortunate as the basic premise of the death game genre is brilliant in its simplicity. The genre involves a number of people who must compete in a game to kill the other participants. The nature of these games can vary wildly, from being more direct battle royales to hinging on simple activities like cards or hide and seek. But what is constant are the devastating stakes the participants are playing for, as their own lives hang in the balance. These are the best examples of this premise out into action.

Shonen That Heavily Deviated From The Manga
Image
The shonen demographic "genre" is perhaps the most popular in manga, which is why so many of these works have anime adaptations. These shows take the source material and usually make it even more accessible, allowing them to reach even larger audiences. In some cases, however, these anime make major divergences from what those who read the books had come to know and love.

In many cases, these changes are due to how close the production between the anime and manga are. In fact, some of these anime were completed before their source material was even halfway completed. As a result, many of these anime have entirely different storylines and even conclusions from the manga.

10 Best Anime To Watch if You Love The Apothecary Diaries
Image
The Apothecary Diaries is a unique anime. Its set up and premise give all the energy of a historical romance, and Jinshi probably assumes that he is in one. However, those trappings actually hide an anime that adores mysteries, and enjoys giving the audience a chance to become involved in uncovering the secrets of its world. As a period piece, the show appears to take place in 15th century China based on context clues. The anime does not shy away from some realities of the period and, even with its bright appearance, it still manages to stay quite grounded. The whole experience is fun and keeps the watcher curious for the next segment.

With such an interesting and playful set up, it's only natural that fans of the anime would want to find something that matches it in terms of charm and grandiosity. Perhaps they want more mystery? Or maybe...
