Metro In Dino Music Review: Dear Kk, I Just Miss You Despite All The Good Things! (Photo Credit – YouTube)

This week has been a great high for the Indian music scene, with gems doling out from films and making it a dream for every music lover to sleep in beauties after so long! After Kaalidhar Laapata’s beautiful music album, composed by Amit Trivedi, Anurag Basu’s Metro In Dino is dragging me into a parallel world where love is real, raw, magical, yet heartbreaking!

Composed by Pritam, the album has 9 songs, with a few of them having reprise versions, so you cannot pick your favorite ones. But the old soul in me deviates towards the reprise versions more!

The songs are a mixed bag with lyrics by Qaisar-Ul-Jafri, Sandeep Shrivastava, Anurag Sharma, Neelesh Misra, Momin Khan Momin and Mayur Puri. The blueprint has been very intelligent and kept the...

Heartfelt ‘Mann Ye Mera’ from Metro…इन दिनों: An ode to the sweetness of falling in love
Image
The third track from Metro…इन दिनों has dropped, ‘Mann Ye Mera’, and it’s everything you would want a love song to be. Tender, heartfelt, the music and the lyrics are soaked in the sweetness of falling in love.

Directed by Anurag Basu, the film features an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sensharma, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, and Saswata Chatterjee.

Composed by the music maverick Pritam and featuring the expressive voice of Vishal Mishra, ‘Mann Ye Mera’ is penned by Neelesh Misra. While ‘Zamaana Lage’ explored feelings of change and loneliness, followed by ‘Dil ka kya’, which delved into the complexities of love and separation, ‘Mann Ye Mera’ is a happy track that dives into the quiet magic of being in love. Whether you’re in love, remembering it, or waiting for it, this is the song that finds you.

Revisiting Jism As Pooja Bhatt’s Steamy Film Completes 21
Image
There’s a great deal of jism on display in Amit Saxena’s directorial debut. In the first half, there is little else. From the moment Bipasha Basu walks out of the sea wearing a trendy bead necklace and a body-hugging apology for a dress, she seems to have not just protagonist Kabir Lal (John Abraham), but also director Saxena and cinematographer Fuwad Khan following her voluptuous body with single-minded focus.

Bipasha is Sonia, the lonely wife of travelling millionaire Rohit Khanna (Gulshan Grover). Kabir is a maverick lawyer who seems to have very little purpose in life as he guzzles rum by the gallons and laments whatever it is that ails his sorry existence. When he spots Sonia yet again in a very backless black dress standing all by herself in the town’s hot spot, he falls straight for her sizzling jism.

The story waltzes on as the...

Ek Tha Tiger

Stars: Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Ranvir Shorey, Girish Karnad, Roshan Seth | Written by Kabir Khan, Neelesh Misra | Directed by Kabir Khan

Following his recent success in remaking South Indian action films, Salman Khan’s first original, but still action, film in a while is Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, produced by Yashraj Films, with Katrina Kaif starring opposite him. Salman Khan stars as Tiger, one of India’s best Raw agents. On a mission to observe scientist Professor Kidwai in Dublin, he meets Zoya, a dance student, who he soon falls in love with, and he must learn to follow his heart, and not his head.

Kabir Khan, who previously made Kabul Express and New York, is progressively becoming more and more mainstream Bollywood. New York, a film about muslims in America after 9/11 was a step in that direction, but with Ett he’s basically there.

Bodyguard Music Review
After the box-office smashing results of Wanted, Dabangg and Ready, Salman Khan is back again with Bodyguard. Bodyguard is a remake of the Malayalam hit of the same name which starred Dileep and Nayantara. Bodyguard has already been remade in Tamil and a Telugu remake is in the works, so it’s only fitting that Hindi cinema tries its luck as well. Bodyguard has been directed by Siddique, who directed the original as well as the Tamil and Telugu remakes of the film.

Bodyguard features compositions by Himesh Reshammiya, whose musical career has been rather silent. Lyrics have been penned by Shabbir Ahmed and Neelesh Misra, however the soundtrack covers do not stipulate as to whether the songs are collaboration between the two or if they wrote different tracks. Bodyguard features the vocal talents of Rahet Fateh Ali Khan (‘Tere Mast Mast Do Nain’ – Dabangg), Shreya Ghosal (‘Bahara’ – I Hate Luv Storys...

A song and a story: Changing music of modern India
You could call it a 'desi' version of Bob Dylan's social poetry set to music - novel to the ears. Contemporary urban music in India is drawing its soul from tradition, narratives from socio-political circumstances and beats from Western pop, rock and funk genres. Journalist-turned-Bollywood composer and writer Neelesh Misra, who released his band's new album, 'Rewind: Nine Lost Memories', at a concert in the capital Wednesday has combined the north Indian storytelling traditions of Dastangoi with funk rock in his new album. The album tells the story of an upwardly mobile small-town young man in a metro - who suffers the pangs of love, loss, loneliness and the blues that come with a clash of values. 'I would describe my music as 'funk kissagoi (storytelling)', a modern take on the medieval story telling tradition of Dastangoi of Islamic origin. It is a meeting point of Dastangoi and contemporary funk-rock,...
