Marisa Román was 15 years old when she started her career as a TV actress with independent producer Laura Visconti Producciones, where she was cast in two juvenile series: "Así es la vida" and "La calle de los sueños." In 2001, Marisa started working at Venezuelan network RCTV. She participated in the telenovelas: "Viva la pepa," "A calzón quitao" and the leading role in the juvenile love plot of telenovela "Trapos íntimos". This was her last work for that network. After this she worked a decade for the most important TV network in Venezuela (Venevisión). Her first proyect there was the dual role that made her a household name: the twins "Verónica" and "María Suspiro" in popular and acclaimed telenovela "Cosita Rica" (2003-2004) which resulted in a host of awards and recognitions. In 2006, she landed the leading role in "Ciudad Bendita" another telenovela, which garnered the highest ratings in Venezuela in the last decade. She also worked in "La Vida Entera" (2008-2009), "La Mujer Perfecta" (2010 - 2011) and more recently she leaded the cast of the telenovela "De Todas maneras Rosa" (2013). Marisa's work in film has also been consistent: "Elipsis," "Lo que tiene el otro," "Ni tan largos... ni tan cortos" (Award for best actress at the National Film Festival of Merida 2007), "Día Naranja," "La Hora Cero" (The Zero Hour) (Award for best actress in a supporting role at the National Film Festival of Merida 2010 and Award of the Public for all the crew at the LALIFF - Latino Film Festival of Los Angeles 2011), "Samuel," "Cuidado con lo que sueñas," "Memorias de un Soldado" and "Bloodbath Test." On stage, Marisa has worked with the Grupo Actoral 80 in plays written by two of the best Venezuelan theater authors: Fausto Verdial's "¡Y... las mujeres también!" and "Los hombros de América," and José Ignacio Cabrujas' "El día que me quieras." Marisa also has been the face and voice of Movistar, one of the largest mobile phone and Internet providers in Venezuela. She is also the spokeswoman of NGO Acción Solidaria with whom she made a major public service campaign to raise awareness about HIV prevention and testing among young audiences.
