And just like that, we learned about another Sex and the City cameo that almost but didn't come to fruition in an episode of And Just Like That. Max's Sex and the City continuation series will soon return for its third season, and while we know that we will definitely be seeing more from original series favorites Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte, a certain someone still won't be making a cameo.
No, we're not talking about Samanta Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, who did make her highly anticipated cameo appearance in a solo season 2 scene. We're talking about Charlotte's first husband Trey MacDougal. Kyle MacLachlan appeared as Trey in Sex and the City seasons 3 and 4, which followed Charlotte's relationship with the cardiologist until their divorce.
MacLachlan recently opened up in an interview about being approached to reprise his character in And Just Like That, but he ultimately chose to turn down...

Sex and the City star Kyle MacLachlan shares his thoughts on potentially returning to the sequel series, And Just Like That.... In the original series, MacLachlan portrayed Trey MacDougal, Charlotte's (Kristin Davis) former husband before Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler), who handled their divorce case as Charlotte's attorney. The sequel series has reunited many of the original Sex and the City cast members in their respective roles, including Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the columnist, Carrie Bradshaw, and Cynthia Nixon as Miranda.
In an interview with People, MacLachlan discusses what it would take for him to return to Sex and the City universe. Reacting to the comment that Davis made in her podcast about him turning down the opportunity to make a cameo appearance where Charlotte and Trey would get some closure on their failed marriage, the star revealed that he'd be open to appearing on the show, but he couldn't...

Jennifer Love Hewitt is finally ready to talk about her mother. More than 12 years after losing the woman whom she considered the center of her universe to cancer, Hewitt has channeled her grief into two new projects which honor the legacy of “magic” that her mother left behind.
“I don’t know that we truly appreciate who our mothers really are until we’ve either lost them, unfortunately, or until we get old enough to realize all that goes into being a mom,” Hewitt tells Variety. “So I’ve had such a new experience with my mother in this time — in really taking in, as an adult, all that she did for me, all that she went through in her life, and all that she was probably struggling with when I was a kid. And [she] still was able to create what I remember and take in as a magical childhood...

Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of October 7-11 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless.
Hits and Misses
What we think worked and didn’t work.
The Young and the Restless
Hit: Traci and Alan are back. Traci (Beth Maitland) and Alan (Christopher Cousins) traveled to the United States and back to France. They’ve returned to Genoa City and are already talking about moving in together. Welcome back.
Miss/Hit: Jack and Diane have a huge shouting match while Victor overhears. Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) are better than that. But they will all be forgiven, and this miss will become a hit if they’re setting up Victor (Eric Braeden) and the public argument was a ruse.
Miss: Lily’s instinct was to trust Victor and Nikki.

Quick Links How From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Expands the Story of the Film Where Did From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series Originally Air? Why Did From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series End With Season 3?
Written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Robert Rodriguez, when From Dusk Till Dawn first premiered in theaters in 1996, nobody could have ever predicted that it would become the horror classic that it is considered to be today. Nobody could have ever predicted the franchise that it would end up spawning after either. What started as a standalone horror action film with a new take on vampires gradually grew into something greater. For almost three decades, it has since been followed up by two direct-to-dvd sequels, a series of comic books, and even a video game. Perhaps its biggest and most successful attempt at an expansion, however, came in the form of a television series,...

Darren Star certainly knows how to keep fans of his shows on edge, and that is precisely what’s being done with Netflix’s Emily in Paris. This show has successfully run the romance, drama/comedy scene for four incredible seasons. While there is no official confirmation on Season 5, fans are concerned with how the storyline capped off during its latest season.

Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, is an American hired by a marketing firm in Paris to provide them with her expertise. However, the character also goes through a series of learning curves, life experiences, and a lot more in the mix. And obviously, why create a television show without a touch of romance in it? But that’s where Darren Star tends to mess it all up.

“I can’t write about my parents, I have to write about sex — specifically, sex in America,” Gia Lombardi (Shailene Woodley) says, early in “Three Women.” Sitting across from New Journalism pioneer Gay Talese (James Naughton), a living, breathing, propositioning representation of the patriarchy, Gia is trying to find a new direction of her own. The book she’s already written has been dismissed by her publisher. They found it boring, among other issues, and she’s been sent to speak with the author of the 1981 book on sexuality in America, “Thy Neighbor’s Wife,” to find a stronger angle into her extremely broad thesis.
She doesn’t, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say “Three Women” doesn’t either. Even when Gia is giving her closing summary, pinning down what she’s learned at the end of her long, country-spanning journey, her conclusion is wider than the old...

Spend enough time complaining about padded limited series that would have worked better as movies and superfluously ambitious movies that would have been better fulfilled as limited series, and it becomes a relief to offer a small new variation: Starz’s new 10-hour limited series Three Women would have been better as three movies. Or possibly it would have been better as a three-season anthology series. All I know is that watching Lisa Taddeo’s adaptation of her own acclaimed book, I’ve rarely been as conscious that the way a story was being presented onscreen couldn’t possibly be the best way for that given story to be told.
Three Women is, more accurately, three different stories told in suboptimal fashion — maybe four if you include what should have been a framing device but, owing presumably to “It’s my darned book” privilege, has been given equal weight throughout.

Shailene Woodley starrer Three Women tells the story of a writer named Gia who is determined to write the book of a lifetime while on a journey to find herself. The show is a powerful exploration of womanhood that occasionally becomes a little bit cliche, but even so, it gives us a meaningful ending that shows us how women are always going to be there for each other. How? While each of our experiences is distinct, there’s some factors that tie us together with an invisible thread, one that keeps us going. For the most part, Three Women is about Maggie, Sloane, and Lina, but at the heart of the story is Gia, a wanderer who believes from the bottom of her heart that she doesn’t deserve love because Gia feels herself surrounded by metaphorical spikes like a hedgehog, hurting anyone who gets close to her. Gia’s...

Although BBCs Sherlock is still missed, there are still plenty of other brilliant TV shows that can fill the gap. Benedict Cumberbatchs Sherlock Holmes is one of the best TV detectives ever, as well as one of the strongest interpretations of the legendary fictional character. Arthur Conan Doyles Sherlock novels, which are about the extremely intelligent and blunt London detective, have received several direct and indirect adaptations over the years.
However, the BBCs version is absolutely one of the best TV shows of all time. Even in 2024, the iconic figure is still returning to screens in different forms, and many Sherlock Holmes movies and TV shows are currently in development. While its tempting to just stick with Holmes and Watson, many other TV shows are just as compelling and intriguing that rival Sherlock. Crime dramas can vary in terms of format, characters, and stories, but multiple TV shows have a similar atmosphere to Sherlock.

The Umbrella Academy's cast discusses their characters' sacrifices in the series finale and whether they could ever return. The popular Netflix series came to a close with the superpowered characters letting themselves be consumed by the Cleanse to end the broken timelines and apocalypses. Along with dying, this sacrifice meant that the Hargreeves siblings were erased from all history, making it seem as if they had never existed even though they saved the universe.

The Umbrella Academy star Ritu Arya reveals that she was shocked by the relationship between her character, Lila, and Five (Aidan Gallagher) in season 4. Lila had been in a romantic relationship with Five's brother, Diego (David Castaeda), since season 2, making the development all the more surprising in the show's final season. The unlikely pairing between Lila and Five in The Umbrella Academy season 4 was born out of atypical circumstances, as they found themselves trapped in alternate timelines for seven years and as they struggled to return to the timeline where their families still resided.

The Umbrella Academy cast members reveal the real reason why the Netflix superhero series ends with season 4. In the 1970s and 1980s, more than 30,000 people in the UK were infected with HIV and hepatitis C after being given contaminated blood products. It’s a scandal that should’ve caused shockwaves but has, for the most part, remained unrecognised. Luke Shelley’s new Slick Films produced short What We Wished We Could Be is centred around this scandal but rather than taking a documentary or even docu-drama approach, Shelley decided to tell his story from the dramatised perspective of a couple who have been directly affected by the issue. It’s a tense and confronting watch, showing how two people can be torn apart by something so out of their hands. With the film making its festival premiere at Rhode Island International Film Festival this month followed swiftly by a screening at HollyShorts, Dn invited Shelley to join us for a chat about the making of the short,...

George Schenck, who served as a writer, producer and/or co-showrunner on NCIS during the CBS drama’s first 15 seasons, died Saturday at his home in Los Angeles, a network spokesperson announced. He was 82.
He and Frank Cardea shared a creative partnership for 40 years. Carrie and Aidan must decide whether to revive their romance despite past failures. Reviving their relationship poses a significant risk for both characters in And Just Like That. Aidan's return may be due to Steve's death, prompting new developments in the series.
John Corbett is returning for And Just Like That... season 3, suggesting Carrie and Aidan have ended their five-year break, as Aidan now lives in Virginia. It's not likely that he happened to run into Carrie, although that happened memorably throughout Sex and the City. Aidan and Carrie could be meeting for several reasons, but whatever it is, it breaks what they agreed upon in the And Just Like That season 2 finale. The couple agreed on a five-year break after buying an apartment together, holding off on their relationship until Aidan's youngest son graduated.

Killing off a central character in And Just Like That may be the biggest insult yet to the evolving Sex and the City franchise. Steve's character in Ajlt may have come to its natural conclusion, but his death would be a brutal and unnecessary narrative choice. After a lackluster romance and divorce, Steve deserves to enjoy his slice of paradise on Coney Island, not a tragic demise.
A central Sex and the City character may die in the And Just Like That reboot, which would be the biggest insult to the character yet. The continuation of the Sex and the City story revived the franchise in 2021, and the reboot has been righting franchise wrongs and creating new controversy throughout Ajlt seasons 1 and 2. With filming for season 3 officially underway, the And Just Like That cast was spotted in New York City in July 2024, dressed in all black presumably for a funeral.

But there’s more than sun, sand, and salsa dancing at stake—the winner will walk away a quarter of a million pounds richer.
The premise is twisty but engaging. Each couple is randomly assigned a silver suitcase upon arrival. Secretly stashed inside just one of them is a life-changing cash reward. The others either hold nothing at all or harbor an “early checkout ticket” that sends the unlucky holders home. Over the course of the episodes, the pairs will get opportunities to swap cases in the hope of improving their fortunes. With strategic swaps and suspicious side-eyes at the cocktail bar,...

And Just Like That's cast was seen filming in all black attire, prompting fans to assume they'll attend a funeral in season 3. Even before Covid made a virtue of isolation, experts had already been describing loneliness as an epidemic for years. Now that even the most social among us have had loneliness imposed upon us as a matter of public policy, it seems to be an issue that’s top of mind for TV creators to process through their work. Baby Reindeer revolves around two lonely people who find communion, by chance, over Diet Coke in a neighborhood pub; the disastrous fallout comes later. The titular Mr. & Mrs. Smith find each other in part because they’ve built the kind of lives they can disappear from without causing alarm to friends or loved ones who’d miss them. Ripley’s eponymous protagonist is alone by necessity: the kinds of short cons he’s running for his livelihood depend on his remaining anonymous.

Sex and the City has come under criticism at points for its portrayal of money, with the characters having quite an exuberant lifestyle in New York, even when their salaries shouldn't be able to afford it. Steve the bartender is the least affluent Sex and the City character, making around $30k per year. Mr. Big is, unsurprisingly, the most wealthy, and is a multimillionaire (though his exact net worth is never disclosed).
Sex and the City focuses on its four leads — Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte — as they try to juggle careers, men, and occasionally financial struggles in one of the world's most expensive cities, New York. From the gorgeous penthouses of Park Ave to the trendy lofts of the Meatpacking District, their status was often tied to where they could afford to live, and even having a rent-controlled apartment like Carrie's didn't come without certain financial complications. Argylle is a box-office disaster with a production cost of $200 million, but it was financed by its director and sold to Apple for the same amount. The film's box-office failure is a major disappointment for both Apple and Universal, as it was intended to be the start of a franchise. Apple's acquisition of Argylle was primarily for its streaming service, and unless the film becomes a popular digital rental, it will be a $200 million write-off for the company.
If the comedy spy film Argylle had been entirely distributed and financed by a major Hollywood studio, the film, which has so far grossed approximately $60 million at the worldwide box office against a reported production cost of $200 million, would be poised to become one of the biggest box office bombs in history.

When it comes to the spy genre, not all movies or TV series take the blood-soaked route of John Wick. Some of these properties try to maintain a degree of nuance, as seen with the Bourne and James Bond movies. However, that doesn't mean the genre can't change things a bit for modern audiences.

Argylle's various shocking plot twists subverted the main story, but none did more than the reveal of Agent Argylle's real identity. The transition from Argylle's fictional story to Elly's reality at the book presentation subtly spoils one of Argylle's biggest plot twists. Elly's denial of being a spy and her aptitude for solving mysteries conflict, making the hint at her past as Agent Rachel Kylle more confusing.
Warning! Spoilers about Argylle ahead.
Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle included plenty of shocking plot twists that subverted the main story multiple times, but one in particular was foreshadowed very early in the action-comedy. From the reason behind Elly’s inability to define what happened after Argylle’s Hong Kong trip that let her end book five on a cliffhanger to the truth behind Argylle’s Directorate and its counterpart the Division, which seemingly made attempts on Elly’s life early in the movie,...

Stars: Bryce Dallas Howard, Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, Richard E. Grant, John Cena, Tomás Paredes | Written by Jason Fuchs | Directed by Matthew Vaughn
Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle seems to have spilt audiences and critics all over the world. From being branded as over-the-top fun, to the worst film of the year. While it’s neither of them, at times it can be argued that it’s fallen into each argument.
Bryce Dallas Howard plays Elly Conway, an author who has written a series of best-selling spy novels, all of which focus on the heroic action hero, Argylle. We first see agent Argylle in action, played by Henry Cavill, who has, unfortunately, been given the worst haircut ever put to screen. Sporting his dreadful haircut he’s on a mission, one that is filled with over-the-top dialogue and action, and some of the worst CGI you’re likely to see,...

One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda and Luffy's English-language dub voice actor Colleen Clinkenbeard have completely different ideas about what Luffy's occupation would be in the real world.
Clinkenbeard was at this year's MegaCon Orlando as part of an ensemble panel, titled "One Piece x One Piece: From Anime to Live Action." She was joined by panelists Luci Christian (Nami) from the anime series and live-action actors Jacob Romero (Usopp), Jeff Ward (Buggy) and Aidan Scott (Helmeppo). All panelists were asked what occupations their respective characters would have. While the other characters were tipped to find employment, notably with Helmeppo selling drugs to "rich white moms," Clinkenbeard said Luffy was "unemployable." This question was once posed to Oda, who remarked that Luffy would be a firefighter.
