The album "Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen -- Live in Dallas" won the 2007 Grammy Award for best traditional blues album. Edwards shared this award with Pinetop Perkins, Robert Lockwood Jr. and Henry Townsend.

He was still playing 70 shows a year when he was in his 90s.

His nickname Honey-Boy was a term of endearment from his sister, when he was a toddler.

He left home at age 14 to hit the road with Delta Blues musicians, including Howlin' Wolf (aka Howlin' Wolf) and Little Walter.
