Ritesh got his architectural degree from Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies. He later went abroad for a year to practice with a firm abroad, came back to India and has been designing since then. He owns a firm called Evolutions, which is an architectural and interior designing firm, which he is very passionate about.

Son of the Chief Minister of Maharastra.

Younger brother Dheeraj is married to Jacky Bhagnani's elder sister Honey.

He completed his education from G. D. Somani High School and Kamala Raheja School of Architecture in Mumbai.

Starred in Ram Gopal Verma production shelved film " Loot" directed by Prawal Raman. Starring Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh , Ayesha Takia. The reason it was shelved was because another in production film " Rokda" ,had the same exact storyline. Rokda was also shelved.

He worked in New York City in an architectural firm after graduation while studying acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.

Starred in V. Shantaram's shelved Home Production film. The film was to be produced by V Shantaram's grandson Chaitanya Shantaram. Co starring Anil Kapoor. Riteish was to play the villain. This was in 2007.

Was holidaying with Subash Ghai in London during the shooting of Yaadien. Cinemetographer Kabir Lal met Ritesh on the sets and offered him his first movie. Ritesh was shocked as he had not told anyone he wanted to be an actor.

In 2009, Ram Gopal Varma had announced a 3D horror movie titled "Warning" Starring Ritesh Deshmukh. The film was shelved for unknown reasons.
