Ryan Reynolds Rumored to Be Writing a Deadpool & X-Men MCU Movie.
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe ship seems to be course correcting nicely after traversing the dismal choppy waters of Phase 4 and Phase 5, which included disasters like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels. Despite those glaring disappointments, Deadpool & Wolverine reinvigorated the MCU after its triumphant theatrical release in the summer of 2024, and now it’s been revealed that Ryan Reynolds is indeed exploring another Deadpool film — one that would feature more of the X-Men other than just Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) as primary characters.

According to a new report (May 2) published by The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is in the early stages of penning treatments for a team-up between "three or four members" of the X-Men and the chimichanga-eating Merc with a Mouth. However, it’s important to note that Reynolds has not pitched any of these new ideas to Marvel Studios at the time of this writing.

Ryan Reynolds Is Quietly Developing a Deadpool/X-Men Crossover Movie
Image
Deadpool may be done flying solo, but that doesn’t mean Ryan Reynolds is done with the Merc With a Mouth. In fact, Deadpool & Wolverine may have been the last standalone outing for Wade Wilson — but if Reynolds gets his way, his katana-wielding antihero could be headed back to the big screen with some mutant company.

According to new report from THR, Reynolds is in the early stages of developing a new Deadpool movie that would feature an ensemble of X-Men characters. It’s still extremely early — no pitch has been made to Marvel Studios at this time — but Reynolds is reportedly working on multiple treatments with the idea of bringing “three or four” iconic mutants into the mix. In a twist, the film wouldn’t necessarily center on Deadpool. Instead, he might play more of a supporting role to allow space for new dynamics.

Ryan Reynolds in Early Stages of Exploring a Deadpool/X-Men Teamup Movie (Exclusive)
Image
In the aftermath of Deadpool & Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds remained firm that he did not see another solo Deadpool movie in his future. That was despite the film grossing $1.338 billion, a number that validated the extraordinary amount of creative control he wields over the franchise, and which proved he was the most valuable new player in the Marvel Studios arsenal.

Now, nine months after Deadpool & Wolverine became the top-grossing R-rated movie of all time, Reynolds is quietly plotting his return to the character, but true to his word, it won’t be as the lead of a solo movie.

Reynolds is exploring ideas for a Deadpool movie that would feature X-Men characters, as well as continuing to script the Paramount comedy Boy Band after making writing a priority for much of this year before tackling other obligations, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

The multi-hyphenate is working on various treatments for an...

‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Stars: Corey Hawkins, Aisling Franciosi, Liam Cunningham, David Dastmalchian, Chris Walley, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, Martin Furulund, Nikolai Nikolaeff, Javier Botet | Written by Bragi F. Schut, Zak Olkewicz | Directed by André Øvredal

The Last Voyage of the Demeter is a chilling horror film that delivers a uniquely atmospheric take on the classic Dracula mythos. Directed by André Øvredal, the movie adapts a single chapter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula—the doomed voyage of the Demeter, a Russian schooner transporting a mysterious cargo from Carpathia to England. This narrative decision to focus on a small portion of the novel allows the film to dive deep into the slow-building dread and claustrophobia of being trapped at sea with an unspeakable horror.

The film begins with the Demeter’s crew discovering that they have been tasked with transporting a set of crates, each filled with soil from Transylvania. They are unaware that...

Ryan Reynolds Reveals Which Deadpool & Wolverine Scene Was The Most "Terrifying" To Write
Image
Though the prospect of Deadpool coming back for a third film would have been enough to draw audiences in, Deadpool & Wolverine upped the movie's box office appeal by bringing back Hugh Jackman to star alongside Ryan Reynolds. Jackman had previously played Wolverine for 17 years before retiring from the role, so his decision to return sent shockwaves among Marvel fans. Apparently, that included Reynolds, who co-wrote the film.

In an interview with IndieWire, the actor revealed that writing "Wolverine dialogue was a terrifying process." Reynolds used this opportunity to heap praise onto his friend and costar Jackman, speaking more specifically about a scene wherein WOlverine gives Deadpool a heavy reality check:

"Hugh took that monologue and just devoured it. He chewed it, swallowed it, and delivered for us…and at the end, there’s a stage direction at the bottom that briefly says after he finishes that whole speech, 'a flicker of regret crosses his pupil.

Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy Address Deadpool & Wolverine "Best Adapted Screenplay" Oscar Chances, Prioritizing Story: "Jokes Are The Least Of Our Worries"
Image
Superhero movies have a complicated relationship with the Academy Awards. Typically, their nominations tend to be for more technical categories, such as Best Visual Effects. A notable exception to this was Black Panther receiving a nod for Best Picture. Even so, the minds behind Deadpool & Wolverine discussed whether the McU's first R-rated outing could be an Oscars contender, specifically in the "Best Adapted Screenplay" category.

Speaking with IndieWire, director Shawn Levy explained:

"There’s this presumption, because the movie has a bouncy, naturalistic flow to it that, 'Oh, we’re just finding it through improvisation, and we’re trying stuff out on set.' And certainly, there’s a little bit of that, but we refuse to go into production without a script that is honestly 95 percent reflective of the movie that everyone’s seen, and it really was the outgrowth of a long, long writing process."

For his part,...

'We Failed': Deadpool & Wolverine Director Recalls How Hugh Jackman Unwittingly Saved the Movie
Image
Things were not looking good for Deadpool 3, and the film was close to not being made until Hugh Jackman stepped in, turning the project into the billion-dollar blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine.

In a new interview with Variety between Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and Wicked director Jon M. Chu, Levy revealed that his film was nearly scrapped until one phone call from Hugh Jackman saved it. It began with a question from Chu, who asked Levy if he felt enormous pressure directing a project like Deadpool & Wolverine. Levy's answer might surprise fans.

Levy answered, “People assumed the pressure would be 'Oh, it’s my first Marvel movie, and the MCU needs a big hit.' It had been years since Endgame, and when we were prepping, Quantumania came out. I expected Marvel was going to be intense. It wasn’t.”

Ryan Reynolds Comments On Deadpool & Wolverine Sequel Chances
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine proved to be a box office juggernaut as well as a favorite among long-term fans of Marvel films, prompting the question of what comes next for the characters. Ryan Reynolds, the movie's writer, producer, and lead star, gave an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in which he discussed Wade Wilson's future in the MCU and potential as an Avenger. The actor explained his take on a potential sequel as well as why he thinks there shouldn't be another solo Deadpool film:

"I’ve never been so depressed as the day we locked the last reel of Deadpool & Wolverine. Seeing Shawn every day and Hugh in person or on the screen in the edit bay is one of the best times of my life and a memory palace in my mind that I visit every day. I don’t know what the future holds just yet."

"As for Deadpool & Wolverine,...

Ryan Reynolds Breaks Down Deadpool & Wolverine's "Marvel Jesus" Line
Image
Since the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped, Wade Wilson calling himself "Marvel Jesus" has proven to be one of the film's most memorable lines. The film overall completely demolished the fourth wall with its approach to Marvel's post-Endgame record, which is generally viewed as less successful than the previous decade of films. However, the scene in which Deadpool declares himself the messiah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is perhaps the most infamous line from the film.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, unpacked how Marvel executives felt about the line and its (joking) insinuation that the film would revitalize the MCU. The actor, who also wrote and produced Deadpool & Wolverine, explained:

"'Marvel Jesus' didn’t seem to present an issue. If anything, the studio leaned in. I think most people understood the line in the spirit it was intended. The real surprise was...

Ryan Reynolds Reveals Why He Doesn't Want Deadpool To Be An Avenger (Or An X-Man)
Image
After Deadpool & Wolverine brought Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, speculation as to when and how the character may reappear reached an all-time high. Recently, Reynolds addressed the character's future in Marvel and how he could fit into the franchise's existing teams. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor explained:

"There are no updates to share just yet. But I trust Kevin and [Marvel exec] Lou D’Esposito with my life. The character trait I love most about Deadpool is that he’s a fanboy. His enthusiasm and longing to be part of a team is really endearing to me. It’s his overarching wish-fulfillment story. But I don’t think he should ever be an Avenger or an X-Man. If he becomes either, we’re at the end."

When the interviewer prompted him with "Does that mean the character won’t ever be in an Avengers film?...

Ryan Reynolds at an event for Deadpool 2 (2018)
Ryan Reynolds is once again fundraising for The SickKids Foundation, but this time, he’s got a little help from a DC icon. “Benevolence is thirsty work,” Deadpool says in the opening moments of the video as he walks up to Kidpool sitting in a sleigh. When asked what’s next, Deadpool says, “I thought we’d eliminate sick kids,” which Kidpool thinks is pretty “f***ed up.“

“No, no, no, we’re eliminating the sickness by encouraging people to donate,” Deadpool says, “but we’re going to need some help because you and I are technically R-rated and these are kids, sick kids.” Enter Lynda Carter, which prompts Deadpool to quip, “Aren’t you a wonderful woman,” as he stares directly into the camera. Carter is convinced to do her classic twirl, but instead of the Wonder Woman costume, she winds up wearing the ugly Christmas sweater that Reynolds...

The Best Superhero Movie Quotes Ever
Image
Superhero movies aren't generally regarded for their writing, so if a movie receives a positive reception for its script, fans know the screenplay must be truly impressive. With so many superhero movies made over the last 40-plus years spanning Marvel, DC, and beyond, viewers have received some truly epic quotes.

There are so many timeless quotes in superhero movies that some are integrated into everyday life verbatim, parodied, and/or celebrated by movie fans. What's truly inspiring is when superhero movies inspire those who are watching — regardless of who they are — in addition to the heroes.

Updated by Jordan Iacobucci on December 10, 2024: The superhero genre continues to expand with more and more films. With the MCU delivering multiple films a year and James Gunn's Dcu preparing to launch, it seems the genre will only get bigger in the next few years. This article has been updated to include...

Deadpool & Wolverine Screenplay Reveals the Racy Joke Disney Wanted Removed
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine features several memorable moments that keep Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiasts talking, including the fourth-wall-breaking humor that's made Ryan Reynolds' "Merc With a Mouth" even more beloved. However, Disney prevented one of Deadpool's button-pushing jokes from featuring, with a new report confirming what that joke was.

According to the official screenplay (shared by Disney), script pages from Deadpool & Wolverine feature some of the dialogue that didn't make the MCU blockbuster's theatrical cut. One page features the line Disney didn't sign off on for the latest Deadpool franchise installment, one which involves Wade Wilson and the House of Mouse's most notable figure, Mickey Mouse. The X-rated joke was, “F*Ck! What, we can't even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c*ck in my throat.”

The 1 Nsfw Deadpool & Wolverine Joke Disney Demanded Was Cut Has Finally Been Revealed... And We're Not Surprised
Image
2024 mega success Deadpool & Wolverine doesn't exactly pull its punches, but Shawn Levy revealed that one joke didn't make the cut after Disney insisted it was cut. The offending joke in question has now been revealed, and it's not exactly surprising why it didn't make it, even with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's long-awaited team-up coming with an R rating.

Thanks to the now-publicly-available screenplay (via Disney Debut), we now know exactly what the joke was, and why Disney balked at its inclusion. In the exchange between Blade (named Billy in the script to hide his identity) and Wade, in which Deadpool learns that Magneto is already dead, his original reaction was set to include an explicit reference to Mickey Mouse:

"We can't even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse c**k in my throat.",

Acclaimed actor Ryan Reynolds continues to boost his increasingly busy schedule following the record-breaking success of Deadpool & Wolverine. Reynolds' latest project sees him reunite with the writer of his contemporary fantasy film, Free Guy, to resurrect a cartoon hero from the Old Hollywood era.

According to Variety, Reynolds will team up with Free Guy scribe Matt Lieberman for an animated movie chronicling the vintage cartoon character, Mighty Mouse. The duo is collaborating with Paramount Animation to create a feature-length adaptation spotlighting Mighty Mouse, with Reynolds' Maximum Effort imprint producing the project. Maximum Effort has a first-look deal with Paramount which Reynolds's company renewed this past February. Lieberman, known for his work on The Addams Family and The Christmas Chronicles, will pen the screenplay.

How Deadpool & Wolverine Satirizes Disney's Corporate Mergers
Image
The release of Deadpool & Wolverine in summer 2024 saw the closing of a chapter in superhero movie history. A conscious effort to bring Ryan Reynolds' beloved Merc With a Mouth into the MCU fold, it serves as a self-aware sendoff to Marvel's pre-Disney properties in the wake of the media conglomerate's merger with 20th Century Fox, as Disney continues to tie up loose ends in its quest to control all of Marvel's many characters. With the purchasing of Fox, Disney finally took control of the X-Men franchise, whose early success essentially paved the way for the current superhero movie era that Disney continues to dominate.

Before Disney bought the Marvel brand back in 2009, the company sold the film rights to their many characters to outside studios, including Sony, who had control of Spider-Man, and Fox, who enjoyed a solid run of X-Men films for nearly two decades beginning in 2000. They...

10 Movies That Could Get Away With A Musical Sequel (Unlike Joker)
Image
A great movie musical can truly stand the test of time, although thats only if audiences actually want the movie to be a musical, unlike what happened with the highly divisive release of Joker: Folie Deux. The commercial failure of Joker: Folie Deux proved that not all viewers will respond well to a musical movie sequel and that this is a major risk with a significant chance of backfiring. With this in mind, its interesting to note the movies that would benefit from the musical sequel and imagine how they could successfully carry forward the series' legacy.

The best movie musicals have earned their way into the hearts of viewers who connect deeply with over-the-top theatrical narrative, beautiful renditions of heartwarming ballads, and magnificently choreographed dance routines of awe-inspiring wonder. Turning a non-musical movie into a musical for its sequel wont work with every release, but if they could pull it off,...

Blake Lively Helped Fix 'Deadpool & Wolverine's Underwhelming Ending
Image
Blake Lively didn't just cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine, she had a big impact on the dramatic ending. Directed by Shawn Levy, the smash hit team-up movie (which is currently breaking records on Disney+) pitted the titular heroes against Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), a power-hungry agent of the Time Variance Authority, and Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), the evil twin sister of Professor X. The final scene saw Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) prepare to sacrifice themselves to save their timeline.

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Shawn Levy revealed that the initial edit of the scene had very little suspense. After destroying the time ripper, both Deadpool and Wolverine walked away unscathed, with no sense of fear about their mortality. "Credit where credit is due. It used to be that there was no suspense, that the power room blew up, and our heroes had survived," Levy began. The director said that Blake...

Deadpool & Wolverine debuts on Disney+ as most-watched live-action movie in nearly two years
Image
With a worldwide box office of over $1.3 billion, Deadpool & Wolverine has been a huge success, and it’s also done pretty well on Disney+. According to Disney, the film has garnered 19.4 million views globally in its first six days on the streaming service. A view is defined as total stream time divided by runtime. This makes it the most-watched live-action movie on Disney+ since the streaming release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in February 2023.

While these numbers are impressive, they actually pale in comparison to the streaming service’s biggest movie of the year, Inside Out 2, which pulled in 30.5 million views in its first five days on Disney+.

Ryan Reynolds' 'Deadpool & Wolverine' Spoiler Plan Attempted to Keep Wesley Snipes' Blade, Channing Tatum's Gambit and More Secret

What to Watch Before ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Image
As with any late-stage Marvel Studios production, “Deadpool & Wolverine” arrives with some accompanying homework. These movies aren’t merely standalone adventures, they are plugged into a larger framework of interconnected movies, television shows, sequels and spin-offs.

This is truer now than before, since Disney completed its absorption of 21st Century’s assets in 2019. That means that the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which was previously off-limits to both Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds again) and Wolverine, is fair game and that they have access to virtually every Marvel character.

But what should you actually watch before you see Deadpool and Wolverine team-up for their cross-universe romp? We can help, but this probably constitutes a light spoiler warning. As you can probably imagine, there are a ton of fun cameos from other parts of the MCU (and beyond). We won’t spoil those, but we will allude to more concrete callbacks that will greatly...

"Bite Your Tongue": Ryan Reynolds Addresses The Possibility Of Deadpool 4

Ryan Reynolds has addressed the possibility of Deadpool 4 nearly four months after Marvel Studios released Deadpool & Wolverine. The fact that there is a demand for Deadpool 4 so soon should come as no surprise given the immense success of Deadpool & Wolverine. After commenting on the positive response to Deadpool & Wolverine, Extra TV suggested in an interview with Ryan Reynolds posted on X that he could film "another one," to which he responded:

T.J. Miller Open to Deadpool 4 Return Following Feud With 'Good Friend' Ryan Reynolds

After appearing in the first two Deadpool movies, T.J. Miller did not return for this year's Deadpool & Wolverine. This was no surprise, as Miller had previously spoken about an apparent falling out he'd had with Ryan Reynolds.

In a new interview for Sirius Xm's The Bonfire (per EW), Miller shared that he recently spoke with Reynolds. While Miller did not share any additional details about that conversation, it's a promising sign for the two actors becoming friends again after they went their separate ways after Deadpool 2. Though Miller had believed he'd never return as Weasel in any new Deadpool movies, he now says it'd be "awesome" to come back for something like Deadpool 4, but it would be up to Reynolds to give him that call.

Controversial 'Deadpool' Actor T.J. Miller Wants To Return for 'Deadpool 4'
Image
T.J. Miller is pitching a potential return to the Deadpool universe. Miller portrayed Weasel, the best friend of Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson and owner of Sister Margaret's School for Wayward Children (the name of his bar) in the first two movies. But the comedian was noticeably absent for the third installment, Deadpool & Wolverine, which brought the titular heroes to the MCU.

The exact reason for Miller's absence is still unclear, but it's thought to have stemmed from a laundry list of problems, including sexual assault allegations (which he has denied), as well as federal charges for a phoning in a fake bomb threat (which were dropped), and long-running issues with substance abuse. Deadpool & Wolverine: Scrapped concept revealed that Wade Wilson was in the MCU the entire time
Image
Before Deadpool & Wolverine became one of the biggest movies of the year, there were many different concepts for what the movie could be, including one that would have revealed that Wade Wilson had been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) the entire time.

“We had a ‘Deadpool’s Deleted Scenes Extravaganza’ where we were going to try and show that he was in the MCU the whole time – you just didn’t see his scenes, they were all on the cutting room floor,” executive producer Wendy Jacobson explained on Assembled: The Making of Deadpool & Wolverine, adding they were “really just trying to find a reason for this movie to be.” It would have been a fun idea, but once Hugh Jackman entered the picture as Wolverine, the film found its purpose.

Jacobson mentioned that another concept was a shot-for-shot remake of Thor: The Dark World with Deadpool. It’s...

Deadpool & Wolverine Producer Reveals Wade Wilson MCU Twist That Was Scrapped From the Film

Deadpool & Wolverine marks Wade Wilson's Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, with the presence of the fourth-wall-breaking hero giving Phase Five a much-needed boost. However, one of the movie's producers reveals that if the acclaimed blockbuster had gone with one of its original ideas, Wade would have been revealed as a part of the MCU "the whole time."

Via Deadpool & Wolverine's audio commentaries on Blu-ray, which have since emerged online, producer Wendy Jacobson claims the original idea would have proven Ryan Reynolds' "Merc With a Mouth" was in previous MCU films. The team-up movie would have seen a series of scenes featuring Wade involved with other MCU moments that would have been showcased in a "Deleted Scene Extravaganza." However, the idea was scrapped early in development. "You just didn't see his scenes. They were all on the cutting room floor," Jacobson said.

Deadpool & Wolverine was a smash hit for Marvel. Reuniting Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool led to huge box office returns for the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all-time. As a result, audiences are already clamoring for more of the dup. In an interview with Omelete, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige addressed the possibility of their return:

Deadpool & Wolverine Fan Theory Explains the X-Mens Absence from the MCU
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine may have just opened up millions of new possibilities for the MCU, thanks to Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson bringing back the X-Men (Wolverine) to the cinematic world. With Logan, a fan favorite, finally making his MCU debut alongside The Fantastic Four's Johnny Storm, fans are now looking forward to the entry of the X-Men, who have long entertained MCU audiences.

Even though it was thought that Hugh Jackman's final Marvel film would be Logan, in which he died, Deadpool & Wolverine brought him back to reprise the role (hopefully not until he is 90). Similarly, many have speculated that the X-Men are not far off making their own cameo in the MCU, including a specific fan theory that caught our interest.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's MCU Returns Always Being Looked At Says Kevin Feige
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine became the biggest Marvel movie since 2021s Spider-Man: No Way Home, so Kevin Feiges comments ahead of D23 Brazil about the pairs possible inclusion in future projects are probably not the most surprising. While there have been several rumors about Hugh Jackman being eyed to continue as Wolverine beyond Avengers: Secret Wars, and Ryan Reynolds fourth Deadpool movie is also in contention, it seems that we could possibly see more from the dynamic duo before either of these projects.

Feige spoke to Omelete before the Marvel Studios panel at the Disney event on Saturday, and was asked the simple question of what plans are being looked at to bring Deadpool and Wolverine back for more MCU screen time. He said in response:

The plans with Deadpool and Wolverine will always be the same: we are always wondering where we can fit them, and how fast.

This makes perfect sense,...

For years, Ryan Reynolds lived in production purgatory, as studios Marvel, 20th Century Fox, etc. went back and forth, hesitating on greenlighting a Deadpool film. Ryan Reynolds writing a movie for Hugh Jackman & Shawn Levy that isn’t Marvel
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine proved that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman (as well as director Shawn Levy) are a force to be reckoned with. It’s only a matter of time before the trio reunite, and that could be coming sooner than we think.

During a recent interview for the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, Reynolds revealed that he will be spending the year “writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel.” He wouldn’t elaborate on what type of project this is, but Variety notes that “his enthusiasm hinted at something fresh and unexpected.“

Although this project isn’t a Marvel movie, there has been speculation that Reynolds and Jackman could return to the MCU for the upcoming Avengers movies. As Deadpool & Wolverine gave Marvel its biggest success in several years, I can’t imagine we’ve seen the last of them.

Morena Baccarin Wants Vanessa to Become Copycat in Deadpool 4
Image
Morena Baccarin still wants to play Copycat in a Deadpool movie, potentially Deadpool 4. Morena Baccarin was one of the best parts of 2016's Deadpool, playing Vanessa Carlyle, Wade Wilson's love interest. Fans of the comics know that Vanessa is actually the shapeshifting mutant known as Copycat. 2016's Deadpool seemingly set the stage for Baccarin to become the character following her imprisonment in the same machine that activated Wade Wilson's mutant abilities. However, the Deadpool sequels have sidelined her and never allowed her to take on the Copycat mantle.

Speaking with Comic Book, Baccarin says she is still open to playing Copycat in the future Deadpool movie. While Deadpool 4 is not officially announced, following Deadpool & Wolverine's $1.3 billion gross, it is a safe assumption that the Merc with the Mouth will return. The actress did joke about how Marvel needs to act fast and how long she has been waiting to play Copycat.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Sets Disney+ Premiere Date
Image
After a record-smashing run in theaters worldwide over the summer, Marvel Studios’ superhero flick Deadpool & Wolverine, teaming Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth and Hugh Jackman’s Adamantium-clawed Marvel mutant, has been set to begin streaming on Disney+ on November 12.

Surpassing Joker to become the highest-grossing Rated-r film of all time, the Deadpool threequel opens on a listless Wade Wilson (Reynolds) toiling away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. But when his home world faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine (Jackman) to… oh hell, just watch the movie. Synopses are stupid.

Shawn Levy directed the pic which grossed over $1.34 billion worldwide, from his script written with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells and Reynolds. He and Reynolds also produced alongside Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

Deadpool & Wolverine Seemingly Not Bringing Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman to Disney+ in November
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine fans had hoped that November would be the month that the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman blockbuster would be coming to streaming on Disney+. While this seems a little overly hopeful considering the Marvel juggernaut only landed on VOD services at the beginning of October, and has only become available on physical media on October 22, Disneys recent reveal of which titles are coming to the streaming platform in the next month proved to be a disappointment to that select group.

Deadpool & Wolverine has been the shot in the arm that the Marvel Cinematic Universe really needed after a lacklustre couple of years, which culminated with the humiliation of The Marvels almost a year ago. The film became the second highest grossing movie of the year with a record-breaking $1.3 billion box office, and delivered some of the most impressive reviews of any Marvel project for quite some time.

Deadpool & Wolverine's Leslie Uggams Reveals How Blind Al Feels About Logan Moving In With Her & Wade

Deadpool & Wolverine actress Leslie Uggams unpacked how she thinks her character Blind Al would react to Wade Wilson bringing Logan home with him. At New York Comic Con, she hilariously reacted in character when discussing whether Al would like Wolverine moving into their one bedroom apartment. The actress stated:

My best moments are with Wade, or Deadpool, so I'm kind of jealous of other people. I have to say that Wolverine's okay, but Wade was my guy. That's my guy! A little jealousy going on there. "You're taking up too much of his time." He's all right. I mean, there's nothing in the world better than Deadpool and that relationship, so she's kind of like the mama in a way. He can tell her anything and stuff like that, and they like to kid each other so well. [Wolverine's] kind of in the way, but it's okay because he is fine.

Deadpool & Wolverine: Logan’s Brown and Tan suit was only on screen for 10 seconds, but it cost an astonishing amount
Image
It ain’t cheap being a superhero, but it’s the suits where they really get you. Deadpool & Wolverine featured plenty of variants of the title characters, including an appearance from Logan in his classic John Byrne brown and tan suit. The suit appears on screen for just 10 seconds, but it cost more than many of us make in an entire year.

ComicBookMovie.com spoke with Deadpool & Wolverine editors Dean Zimmerman and Shane Reid, who revealed that the brown and tan suit cost a whopping $100,000. Quite the price tag. As the production couldn’t afford to spend that on a whole bunch of Wolverine variant suits, Zimmerman explained that they had to choose more cost-effective variants such as Old Man Logan and Wolvie on a cross.

“One of our storyboard artists was a huge comic book fan and he gave us a list of, like, ten of them. There was also,...

Ryan Reynolds Admits Major Marvel Character Death That Was Cut from Deadpool & Wolverine
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine is the biggest superhero release in recent years. Much of its success can be credited to fan service, the inclusion of various Marvel legacy characters, and multiple variants of Deadpool and Wolverine.

The film serves as an emotional bridge from Fox’s X-Men universe to the MCU, featuring many farewells and concluding significant story arcs. However, according to Reynolds, the movie nearly included the death of a beloved fan-favorite character.

One of the most powerful scenes in the movie occurs toward the end when Wolverine and Deadpool team up to stop the Tva’s Time-Ripper from destroying Deadpool’s reality, all while a stunning rendition of ‘Like a Prayer’ plays in the background.

Reynolds is currently promoting this version of the song for Grammy consideration. In his social media posts, he revealed that he initially imagined Colossus as his dance partner instead of Wolverine. He also...

Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds originally planned to kill Colossus
Image
Colossus played a significant role in the first two Deadpool movies, but his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine was minimal, to say the least. However, the metallic mutant may have dodged a bullet as Ryan Reynolds revealed that he had originally intended to kill him off in the third movie before Hugh Jackman got involved.

In an Instagram post celebrating composer Rob Simonsen’s choir version of Madonna’s Like a Prayer, Reynolds revealed that Colossus would have made the ultimate sacrifice. “I had Like A Prayer stuck in my head for the 3rd Deadpool film since 2017. Before Wolverine entered the chat, It was largely gonna be the same motion-control sequence I’d been dreaming about, except my dance partner was originally Colossus,” Reynolds wrote. “He would have died in the preceding scene, launching Deadpool into a state of pure rage and revenge… all set to @madonna’s inspired and singular song,...

Deadpool & Wolverine breaks another record, dethroning John Wick: Chapter 4 in the process
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine already holds the record for the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, but it’s broken yet another record just one week after its release on Digital. According to Disney, the film has delivered the highest-selling first week ever for an R-rated film on domestic digital platforms. Disney didn’t release any numbers, but the previous record holder is believed to be John Wick: Chapter 4.

Deadpool & Wolverine remains in the top 10 at the weekly box office, having grossed $1.33 billion worldwide. This places the film just behind Inside Out 2, which has grossed $1.69 billion. Quite a haul for Disney.

Disney has also been setting up an awards push for Deadpool & Wolverine as they are submitting the film for consideration across all the major awards shows, including a potential Oscar for Hugh Jackman.
