Ben Hickernell is the award-winning director of several feature films, alongside many other projects as a producer, writer and/or editor. After spending much of his life on the east coast, Ben now lives in Los Angeles, but maintains east coast roots. His first feature film as writer / director intended for release, Lebanon, Pa., premiered at SXSW and won Best Fiction Film at the Traverse City Film Festival. It was released theatrically in 20 cities in 2011, followed by ancillary and Showtime. Ben's second feature, as director only, Backwards, was released theatrically in 2012, and distributed by Phase 4 Films. His third feature, A Rising Tide, premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival and has been distributed in over 35 territories. His fourth feature, What We Found, has finished post production and is set to premiere this fall.

He runs the production company Reconstruction Pictures, where he is actively developing new projects. A writer, director, producer and editor, Ben combines a life-long love of narrative films featuring strong stories with an entrepreneurial focus and indie filmmaking practical ingenuity. He lives to tell stories well, to work with talented people with integrity, and to bring projects to successful fruition.
