Biography

    • Rupinder Nagra was born in Punjab, India. He grew up in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada where his dreams included being a rock star who played tennis while singing Indian film tunes. He is well known for his portrayal of Amal Kumar in Richie Mehta's "Amal" (a role that garnered him a Canadian Academy Nomination and The Borsos Award for Best Actor at the Whistler Film Festival). The film went on to win over 20 awards internationally. The remake rights were acquired by Harpo.

      It was this film that opened opportunities for him internationally. His work includes roles in Karan Johar's "Kurbaan", Hansal Mehta's "Omertà" and "Simran", the Danish film "De Ontsnapping" (directed by Ineke Houtman starring Isa Hoes) and "The Etruscan Smile" (directed by Oscar Nominated Oded Binnun & Mihal Brezis)
