On October 28, 2019, Vivienne "VivziePop" Medrano unleashed an animated musical pilot called "Hazbin Hotel" on YouTube, and the world has never been the same. The pilot, which was created entirely by freelance animators and almost exclusively financed by Medrano's Patreon followers, quickly went viral, with the episode currently boasting over 81 million views. The story follows Charlie Morningstar, princess of Hell, as she attempts the impossible task of rehabilitating demons so they can be accepted into Heaven. Her goal is to not only help curb Hell's current overpopulation issues and prevent the demons from being exterminated by angels in the process, but allow an outlet for the damned to seek redemption. Charlie opens up the titular Hazbin Hotel, which serves as a fancy rehab resort for the demons, and becomes a safe space for demons to find a way to become better people in the afterlife than they were on earth.

The upcoming A24 series Hazbin Hotel releases its first look at Lucifer Morningstar, Charlie's father. Hazbin Hotel, an animated adult musical series, began as a YouTube pilot in 2019, created by Vivienne "Vivziepop" Medrano. To date, the pilot episode has over 81 million views on YouTube. Hazbin Hotel's immense popularity lead to production company A24 picking up the show in 2020, with the intention to release it as a long-form TV series. Since March, Hazbin Hotel has been releasing new looks at the series' redesigned characters every month, starting with Alastor the Radio Demon, porn star Angel Dust, and Princess of Hell Charlie. The series follows Charlie as she attempts to quell Hell's overpopulation problem by redeeming sinners at the aptly named Happy Hotel. Though there is no set release date for the series yet, Hazbin Hotel confirmed on their Twitter page that the series is expected to premiere in summer 2023.

The DC universe has had crossovers for as long as it's had a shared universe, but one of the strangest crossovers was when an event in The Sandman almost cost Green Arrow his life and soul, despite the fact those two characters would be the last anyone would think would cross over.
The Green Arrow is Oliver Queen, the vigilante hero of Star City that wants to take down the corrupt rich. Oliver's mission is trying to make society and the world a better place, which he uses both his wealth and his vigilante skills to achieve. Dream of the Endless on the other hand is one member of a family of endless beings that each have a specific function in nature, such as Death, Destiny, Desire, and so on. Dream is an ageless being that has existed for as long as there was life to dream. The majority of...

After rumours began to spread that Netflix had cancelled The Sandman, forcing Neil Gaiman himself to call them out, Deadline reports that the streaming service has actually renewed the series for season 2
The renewal of The Sandman was accidentally leaked earlier today on DC Comics’ official Twitter page. “The dream continues,” read the since-deleted tweet. “[The Sandman] will return with new episodes based on multiple volumes of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel to explore even more stories of the Endless.” Although The Sandman received rave reviews upon its debut on August 5th, it wasn’t immediately clear whether Netflix would renew the series. Neil Gaiman had said that the future of the series was uncertain, so I’m sure fans are more than a little pleased to know that The Sandman has indeed been renewed for season 2. Update: In a statement, Neil Gaiman said:

The Sandman season 1 followed Tom Sturridge as Dream as he begins the journey of restoring the Dreaming. The cast included Boyd Holbrook as Corinthian, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death.
Since The Sandman season 1 ended, audiences have been left waiting for news on whether Tom Sturridge will continue playing Dream. Neil Gaiman has repeatedly attempted to clarify the show's future, but that has not stopped confusion from spreading. The wait for news on The Sandman...

Warning: Major spoilers for Legion of X #6An epic reality-bending battle between Legion, David Haller son of X-Men's Charles Xavier, and the genocidal Eternals tyrant Uranos in Legion of X #6 is a stunning mirror to Dream's battle with Lucifer Morningstar in the Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.
Legion's fight against Uranos only lasts 10 seconds, but it is utterly brutal. It comes in the middle of Marvel's current Judgment Day event, which has seen the Eternals wage horrific warfare on the mutant nation of Krakoa and planet of Arakko. While there is a strong chance that series writer Si Spurrier did not purposefully make the fight between Legion and Uranos as an homage to The Sandman, the similarities between their battle and Dream's "Hell Challenge" against Lucifer are too awesome to ignore.

Gwendoline Christie is no stranger to the fantasy genre. She serves valiantly as Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones, one of the show’s many great warriors. Her towering height and intense acting creates a character with a powerful presence. Putting the heroism onside, Christie has the promise of playing a great villain. Her casting as Captain Phasma in Star Wars was so close to realizing this, until she unfortunately ended up being a toss away adversary. The same cannot be said for her role on Netflix’s The Sandman. As Lucifer Morningstar, she joins other actresses who have fun with all the brimstone and sulfur. What Gwendoline Christie brings to the performance, is as cold as the climate to the underworld. Dream (Tom Sturridge) may have to go up against many enemies, which makes his confrontation with Lucifer all the more fascinating. It’s easily a highlight in Christie’s career.

Netflix’s “The Sandman,” based on the Neil Gaiman created comic book series of the same name, loves to remix mythology and that means introducing characters audiences may already be familiar with such as Lucifer Morningstar (Gwendoline Christie), Death (Kirby Howell-Baptise) and comics character Johanna Constantine (Jenna Coleman).
Lucifer obviously traces its origins back to religion and has been depicted across art for centuries before the advent of Hollywood entertainment.. The personification of Death has been a favorite focus of storytellers for eons, with countless shows and movies picking up the mantle over the years. And Johanna Constantine is both a relative and reinterpretation of DC Comics character John Constantine, who has been a popular staple of the superhero universe since his introduction in 1985.
So how do these actors attempt to put a fresh spin on such well-worn characters in “The Sandman?” We asked them.

After years of development, “The Sandman” has arrived. Neil Gaiman’s beloved graphic novel series now exists as a Netflix series, with Gaiman serving as co-creator and executive producer on the show. Many fans weren’t sure if this day would ever come given how difficult Gaiman’s books are to adapt, with “The Sandman” at one point planned as a movie to be directed by and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Tom Sturridge fills the titular role in this iteration of the story, which finds Dream imprisoned for a century and busting out to find his kingdom in ruins. He then sets out on a journey that puts him in contact with friends and foes alike, learning to better understand humanity in the process.
With a stacked ensemble cast, here’s your complete “The Sandman” cast and character guide. The series is now streaming on Netflix.

This The Sandman review contains No Spoilers and is based on all 10 episodes of the first season of the show.
After decades of failed or blocked film adaptations of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, Netflix has finally broken through with a new 10-episode series, released on Aug. 5.
And it was all worth the wait. The Sandman is spectacular.
The series, adapted for television by Allan Heinberg, David Goyer, and Gaiman himself, follows Dream of the Endless as he is captured by a human warlock and held in captivity for 100 years. He escapes captivity and returns to his realm, The Dreaming, to rebuild and reorient himself, and that process leads to personal growth and deeper relationships with his subjects and his siblings.

Lucifer Morningstar is a frequent dark guest of Western culture, with depictions of the fallen angel stretching back to Biblical times and even before that in elemental forms. In Neil Gaiman’s hallowed comic The Sandman, however, Lucifer is a little different from his usual representation. The Sandman‘s Lucifer is bored of ruling hell for billions of years and he’s about to make that boredom everyone else’s problem.
Funnily enough, Netflix already has played host to Gaiman’s version of the devil, having produced the final three seasons of the Tom Ellis-starring Lucifer (formerly of Fox). With its adaptation of The Sandman though, Netflix and series producers Gaiman and Allan Heinberg wanted to honor the comic with a slightly remixed interpretation of the Dark Prince from Ellis’s. And that search took them directly to the shores of Tarth in Westeros’s Stormlands.
