The tween girl with cerebral palsy at the heart of “Out of My Mind” would certainly dislike being called inspiring. She makes it crystal clear she hates pity, or anything resembling empty expressions of sympathy. Yet the filmmakers behind the Disney Original, based on Sharon M. Draper’s novel, cast her as the quintessential inspirational movie heroine, there to teach the able-bodied how to treat her disability with respect and empathy. While overall this might serve as a good teaching tool to impact the way disabilities are approached by the medical and educational community, the protagonist’s construction begs for an arc that’s strangely missing from this otherwise sharp feature.

Out of My Mind is a touching story about a young woman's struggle to be heard due to people's frequent dismissal of her abilities and intellect. Throughout the film, Melody Brooks proves her incredible and indomitable will, despite setbacks and challenges. In addition, the movie forces us to consider our own preconceptions, as it highlights that differences do not equal a lack of ability, but rather a disconnection in understanding.
Out of My Mind, directed by Amber Sealey, follows Melody Brooks, a non-verbal sixth grader with cerebral palsy, as she navigates mainstream education. With the support of a young educator, Melody demonstrates her intellectual capabilities despite societal limitations, revealing her powerful inner voice and challenging stereotypes.

Sebastian Stan was highly praised for portraying Donald Trump in the biographical drama, The Apprentice. While the movie did not make a huge splash at the box office, it stirred up a lot of controversy prior to its release, thanks mainly to the former and new president of America. Now Stan has revealed that since Trumps unprecedented election victory, he has found himself being shut out when it comes to being able to speak about the movie even having to cancel an episode of Varietys Actors on Actors series as no one would participate with him.
Speaking at a Q&a after a screening of The Apprentice, Stan joined director Ali Abbasi to talk about the film, and revealed that he has struggled to find people willing to openly discuss the movie and its subject in any way for fear of receiving some kind of blowback for it. Stan said:...

Director Ali Abbasi risked his career to direct the upcoming biopic about former U.S. President Donald Trump called The Apprentice. The Holy Spider director has already worked with sensitive topics based on real-life events, so The Apprentice seemed right up his alley, but other directors and distributors were not willing to take the risk. Abbasi has been vocal about his struggle to make the film and score a distributor, encountering networks like ABC and CBS that refuse to air the movie in TV spots. As the 2024 election grows closer, new details about the tough production are being revealed.

Since its announcement, the Donald Trump biopic has had a looming shadow of controversy around it. Given the former president's life story, it's easy to see why folks would be for or against it. 2024 isn't even over yet, and we've already been hearing about a lot of new horror content set to be released in 2025. For example, Paramount Pictures will release its new horror film Vicious early next year, and you won't believe who's in the cast.
We first learned of this horror flick back in February 2024. At the time, it was reported that Paramount Pictures had boarded a new horror film titled Vicious and that Emmy nominee Dakota Fanning would be leading the cast. Bryan Bertino was also announced to be helming the film. Atlas Entertainment and Richard Suckle were signed on to produce with Melinda Whitaker as executive producer. The movie was also given a Aug. 8, 2025 theatrical release.
However, so much new information has come out about this film since then. For one, it will no longer be released in theaters in August 2025. Instead, its theatrical release has been pushed up to Feb.

The phrase “faith-based drama” is one to strike fear into the hearts of all but the most devout, since it usually signals endless platitudes and piety with very little drama. There are touches of that in this real-life story, but thankfully director Jon Gunn and writers Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig have kept it to a minimum, letting the kindness and charity of the characters shine without too much sermonising. It also benefits from solid performances and a genuinely heartbreaking set-up.

As the news gets darker and more depressing, a triumphant “against the odds” inspired by true events underdog story may be just the cure for the late Winter doldrums. And that’s exactly what this week’s new movie promises…and pretty much delivers. It’s an ode to the “help your neighbor” spirit of small-town America (not that it’s completely absent in the bustling cities). Plus there’s a bit of spirituality (right in the title) along with some folks overcoming their own personal struggles. And as a bonus, this marks a most welcome return of an actress to the big screen, in a wide release, after earning a second Oscar almost twenty years ago. In a new “real-life” role this extraordinary actress becomes the leader of a group of Ordinary Angels.

Driven by their devout Christianity, the Erwin brothers — Andrew and Jon — have never been shy about the agenda behind their work. “Our mission,” it says on their website, “is simply to spread the Gospel further than it’s ever been using film as the medium,” and that mission has seen their Kingdom Story Company evolve into one of the biggest forces in America’s burgeoning “faith-based” sub-genre.
In light of the brothers’ stated purpose, however, it’s strange that they’ve responded to their success by making increasingly secular movies. Perhaps that’s just part of the Erwins’ plan to widen the tent and share Jesus’ light with people who haven’t necessarily sought it out for themselves, but it’s hard to overstate the difference between their self-directed 2012 debut — the virulently anti-abortion drama “October Baby” — and the latest feature they’ve produced, a hokey but harmless Hilary Swank vehicle...

With a true story centered on everyday people pulling off extraordinary feats, “Ordinary Angels” can’t help but embrace the sentimentality at its core. It’s baked into its DNA, and is the reason why this compelling, heartstring-pulling drama made it to the big screen 30 years after taking place — in a time when we too are searching for light in a bleak world. Yet what lifts the picture beyond average inspirational fluff is the way director Jon Gunn and company control the slow release of its sweetness so as not to overpower. This technique, though forgivably manipulative, works to grand effect and, by the end, even cynics will be won over by the human kindness on display.

‘Ordinary Angels’ Review: Hilary Swank’s Passionate Performance Drives True Faith Based Family Drama
Lionsgate’s collaboration with faith based movie producers Kingdom Story Company has reaped boxoffice rewards for both, and with their latest, Ordinary Angels, the inspiring true story of a small Kentucky town that comes together in a historic snowstorm in order to transport a 3-year-old girl to an Omaha hospital for a life-saving liver transplant, they have another surefire heartfelt film tailor-made for audiences looking for a little uplift. This actually would have made a perfect Christmas season release but has been delayed for several months, now opening in the same February corridor where Kingdom’s surprise hit, Jesus Revolution did well last year. Midwest crowds will especially respond to a never-say-never tale that is about bringing people together, not tearing them apart in this age of division.

A remarkable true story comes to life in Ordinary Angels, but where to watch the movie depends on a few factors and timing. Originally published in 1986, Elvis and Me: The True Story of the Love Between Priscilla Presley and the King of Rock n’ Roll, proved popular enough to warrant being made into a four-hour television movie in 1988. Now, thirty-five years later, Sofia Coppola has written and directed a new adaptation – simply titled Priscilla – that not only breathes new life into Presley’s memoir, but also further solidifies Coppola as a director deserving of comparison to her more heralded father.
The film begins as a teenage Priscilla Beaulieu is introduced to Elvis Presley at a military-hosted party in Germany. From that moment, the couple enjoy a long courtship that culminates in a tempestuous marriage resulting in the birth of Lisa Marie Presley (Raine Monroe Boland/Emily Mitchell) and the couple’s ultimate separation.

The upcoming film "Priscilla" focuses on Elvis Presley's ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, and is based on her memoir "Elvis and Me." Priscilla and Elvis were married for six years before they separated in 1972 and officially divorced in 1973. Priscilla Presley has had a successful acting career after her divorce from Elvis and is most known for her role in the TV series "Dallas."
Numerous biographical films depict the life of Elvis Presley, but Priscilla shifts its focus to his ex-wife, Priscilla Presley (née Beaulieu). The 2023 drama, which premieres in theaters everywhere on November 3, is based on Priscilla's 1985 memoir Elvis and Me, and Priscilla herself was very involved in the making of the movie. So, it might be safe to assume that the film will be an as-close-as-possible depiction of Priscilla's life with the King of Rock and Roll. But her story was truly just beginning after she separated from Elvis.

"She just got me and I trusted her." A24 has debuted a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Sofia Coppola's Priscilla, her superb film about Priscilla and Elvis Presley. This premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival last month, winning the key Best Actress prize for star Cailee Spaeny. Through Priscilla's eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla's long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt & ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame. Cailee Spaeny stars as Priscilla, with Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley, and an ensemble cast including Raine Monroe Boland, Dagmara Domińczyk, Emily Mitchell, Jorja Cadence, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll, and Luke Humphrey. One of the better films arriving this fall - it comes highly recommended. The main official trailer premiered a few weeks ago, and the film opens in early November.
