What makes movies of the true crime subgenre work is that the allure of probing into the mind of criminals is too fascinating for audiences to miss. While there remains an undeniable ethical issue regarding these movies cashing in on tragedies, a nuanced representation can contribute to doing justice by the victims by showing the truth to the world. Netflix’s latest crime thriller, A Widow’s Game, a fictional recreation of the 2017 murder investigation of Engineer Antonio Navarro Cerdan, does just that by keeping the narrative focus on the perspectives and mental mapping of perps and investigators without curtailing the significance of the actual event. While the investigation itself is pretty basic, the question of what self-serving motives can drive people to go to such heinous lengths is surely shocking if not scary.

By and large, 2024 has proved to be a great year for horror films. The storied genre has produced several critically acclaimed outings, many of which have been lauded as some of the finest horror movies of the 2020s. From exciting new arrivals staking a claim as the genre's new kid on the block to electrifying sequels from prominent horror staples, the year's best horror movies have received rave reviews from fans and critics alike for their innate capacity to shock, disgust, and terrify in blockbuster fashion.

However, while it definitely doesn't hurt, all the critical acclaim in the world is no guarantee of commercial success in Hollywood. While many of the best horror movies of 2024 produced impressive commercial returns to match their glowing reviews, several prominent genre outings proved that good feedback decidedly wasn't a necessity for financial success.

“Gavin & Stacey” star Laura Aikman took her NDA so seriously she even kept her appearance in the 90-minute special a secret from her own family.

Aikman, who plays the widely-disliked Sonia in the cult BBC series, posted a video of herself watching “Gavin & Stacey: The Finale” on Christmas Day with her family, who appeared to have no idea she was about to make an appearance on screen. Hearing the premise of A Man on the Inside, the new Netflix sitcom starring Ted Danson, it's easy to assume the whole thing was cooked up by sitcom writers. But as it turns out, the series created by The Good Place and Parks and Recreation showrunner Michael Schur actually has roots in the real world. Not only that, but the whole event was made into a documentary back in 2020.

Smash, the new stage musical adaptation inspired by the cult favorite 2012 NBC TV series, will begin Broadway previews on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Imperial Theatre, with an official opening on Thursday, April 10 and a cast that will include Robyn Hurder, Brooks Ashmanskas, Krysta Rodriguez, John Behlmann, Kristine Nielsen, Caroline Bowman, Jacqueline B. Arnold, Bella Coppola and Casey Garvin.

The dates and cast were announced today by producers Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron and Steven Spielberg.

During the September 3 episode of America’s Got Talent, Sebastian and Sonia were set to take the stage. The duo is from Barcelona, Spain, and performs aerial shows. However, Sonia hurt her arm while they were rehearsing. She was unable to execute her part of the act.

In a courageous move, Sebastian took the stage alone and carried out a solo routine to the song “In My Blood” by Shawn Mendes. As he performed, the AGT crowd got to their feet, giving him a standing ovation for his amazing act.
