Chappell Roan’s Parents Talk “Pink Pony Club” and Sing Along on Carpool Karaoke: Watch
Image
As part of Apple TV+ and Apple Music’s A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, Chappell Roan and her parents Kara and Dwight joined host Zane Lowe for a special SUV sing-a-long of her song “Pink Pony Club” on Sunday night.

The segment featured Lowe driving Roan and her parents around rural Missouri in an SUV, complete with Christmas decorations strewn about the car. As Lowe played “Pink Pony Club,” Roan and her parents sang along, with the latter two getting emotional — especially during lines that reference her midwestern family.

After the song concluded, her parents discussed its impact. “That song… I love singing it with her at her shows, I love it when you can just see the people respond to that song so much,” commented her mother Kara. “Even when we’re growing up, we really care about what our parents think of us… I hope that’s something that she always knows,...

‘20 Days In Mariupol’ Secures Double Grierson Nomination
Image
Oscar and BAFTA-winning Ukrainian feature 20 Days in Mariupol has picked up two nominations at the prestigious British Grierson Awards, along with docs on Wham!, Boris Johnson and Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Mstyslav Chernov’s movie charting the time the filmmaker spent in the besieged city at the start of the Ukraine War is nommed for Best Current Affairs Documentary and Best Cinema Documentary at the prestigious British gongs. It was selected as the Ukrainian submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 96th Academy Awards but was instead nominated in the Best Documentary Feature Film category, beating off competition from the likes of Bobi Wine: The People’s President, which is also nominated for two Griersons.

Other projects to accrue two nominations include Netflix’s Wham!, Channel 4’s The Rise and Fall of Boris Johnson and Studio 99’s Ronnie O’Sullivan: The Edge of Everything, which was...

‘Wham!’ review round-up: A ‘larky, summery nostalgia blast’ documents rise of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley
Image
On July 5, 2023, Netflix released “Wham!” Through archival interviews and footage, George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley relive the arc of their Wham! career, from 70s best buds to 80s pop icons. The documentary is directed by Chris Smith and is holding fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a critics score of 83%. Fans are even more enthusiastic to walk down memory lane with the “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” hit makers, scoring it a perfect 100%. Read our full review round-up below.

Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian says, ”’Wise guys realise / There’s danger in emotional ties …’ Here was one of the most artlessly, chillingly brilliant pop lyrics of the 80s, from Wham!’s ‘Young Guns (Go For It)’, something to compare with the triumph of Madonna being a material girl in a material world. You can’t help thinking again about its relevance to Andrew Ridgeley and George Michael’s emotional ties...

Snakes On A Plane Honest Trailer Mocks Internet-Influenced Horror Film
Image
The new Honest Trailer lampoons Snakes on a Plane and the internet's influence on the film. Snakes on a Plane is a 2006 film starring Samuel L. Jackson, which delivers on what the title says. Jackson plays an FBI agent protecting a witness on a flight from Hawaii to California. The trip goes horribly awry when a mob boss releases snakes on the plane in an attempt to keep the witness from ever making it to court. Snakes on a Plane went viral before it was released, thanks to the on-the-nose title the internet couldn't get enough of. However, the final result still didn't land with audiences, making just over 60 million worldwide on a 33 million budget.

The new Honest Trailer from Screen Junkies examines the viral sensation Snakes on a Plane became, humorously poking fun at how the Jackson movie ultimately amounted to lackluster returns.

While deconstructing the convoluted plot, which...

An Icon’s Legacy: George Michael’s 10 Greatest Live Performances and Duets
George Michael, Andrew Ridgeley, and Wham!
As the world mourns the loss of George Michael, who was found dead on Christmas Day at age of 53, the Grammy winner’s music lives on — including a three-decade career of incomparable live performances.

Here are 10 of the icon’s best:

1. “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” (1984)

Okay, so he may have been lip-syncing. But Wham!’s debut on the UK’s Top of the Pops in 1984 gave the world its first glimpse of the full-throttle passion Michael put into his performances. Dressed in the band’s iconic “Choose Life” T-shirt, the then 21-year-old snapped and danced his way around the stage with glee.

Pop Star George Michael Dead at 53
George Michael
Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter George Michael “passed away peacefully at home” in Goring in Oxfordshire on Sunday, his publicist told the BBC. He was 53.

Michael’s manager told the AP the cause of death was heart failure. A statement from his publicist said, “There will be no further comment at this stage.”

Born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in East Finchley, London, Michael rose to fame at age 18 as half of the singing duo Wham!, partnering with longtime friend Andrew Ridgeley to sell more than 25 million albums worldwide from 1982 to 1986. Keanu review
Mark Harrison Published Date  Tuesday, July 19, 2016 - 05:39

The first movie from the team behind Comedy Central's Key & Peele sets itself apart from most action comedies in its prologue, in which an adorable grey kitten scampers through the slo-mo crossfire of a bloody warehouse massacre like he's the hero of a John Woo movie. Unlike so many genre parodies of its kind, Keanu actually captures the style of its subject. It only gets more impressive when it mixes in some authentic-looking Michael Mann too.

The cat then runs all the way to Rell (Jordan Peele), a heartbroken layabout who's recently been dumped by his girlfriend. Keanu the kitten brightens up Rell's life considerably, much to the relief of his strait-laced cousin Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key). Their happiness is short-lived when Rell's home is targeted by burglars looking for his drug-dealing neighbour (Will Forte) and they've catnapped the only one who was at home.

Ben Stiller in Zoolander (2001)
Review: Profoundly unfunny 'Zoolander 2' faceplants on the runway
Ben Stiller in Zoolander (2001)
I wanted to laugh last night. Hell, I needed to laugh last night. And Zoolander 2 failed me completely. Brutally unfunny, visually off-putting, and filled with cameos so embarrassing I am bruised from holding a cringe for a full half-hour, Zoolander 2 is every horrible decision you can make with a comedy sequel wrapped up into one nigh unbearable film. There is a single shot in one scene of Olivia Munn, and I couldn't tell you what she was playing or what role got cut down in the final film, but that one last errant useless shot, left in instead of being totally excised with the rest of her part, sums up the way the entire film feels to me. It feels like it was thrown together in a blender and just poured into a cup indifferently, no matter what ended up blended in there. So many jokes fall so...

Ben Stiller in Zoolander (2001)
Video: Derek Did Not Take Kindly to Marc Jacobs' Hilarious Zoolander Parody
Ben Stiller in Zoolander (2001)
How soon is too soon? While Marc Jacobs' hilarious Zoolander parody had the Internet laughing, not everyone found his video funny. Namely, the film's fictional star. Jacobs - flanked by a few buff buddies - recreated one of the 2001 comedy's most memorable scenes in the video, posted Sunday. In the original film, Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and his model friends have a water war at a gas station after a trip to Starbucks for some "Orange mocha Frapuccinos." When the dimwitted hunks start spraying gasoline, however, the afternoon fun (set, appropriately, to Wham!'s "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go"), turns deadly.
