The Man In The White Van's Warren Skeels On Balancing True Story With Horror & Casting Madison Wolfe
Warren Skeels is jumping into the director's chair for his first movie with The Man in the White Van. Skeels previously got his start in the entertainment industry in front of the camera, co-starring in everything from the ABC family comedy Summertime Switch to the drama Surfacing: Aka A Letter from My Father, which he also wrote and produced, while future two-time Emmy nominee Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) directed. Skeels went on to make a name for himself as the co-creator of the MTV reality show, Siesta Key, which ran for five seasons on the network.
Skeels has partnered with Sharon Y. Cobb to co-write and direct The Man in the White Van, which marks his feature directorial debut. The movie is based on the true story of Billy Mansfield Jr., a serial killer, child molester and sex offender who, throughout the '70s and early '80s, committed...

Madison Wolfe is back in the horror-thriller genre with The Man in the White Van. Having made her acting debut in 2012 with back-to-back roles in the Kristen Stewart-starring adaptation of On the Road and Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis-led political comedy The Campaign, Wolfe found her breakout turn in 2016's The Conjuring 2, portraying the target of the movie's supernatural threat, Janet Hodgson. In the years since, Wolfe not only reunited with James Wan on Malignant, but also led the well-received adaptation of I Kill Giants and in multiple episodes of Mayfair Witches.
Wolfe stars in The Man in the White Van as Annie, a teenage girl living in a small town in Florida in the '70s with her younger brother, older sister and her parents. Often prone to letting her imagination run wild, and frequently butting heads with her sister and mother, Annie suddenly finds herself...

“The Man in the White Van” arises from the deep depths of true crime, primarily based on the real-life tragedies of Billy Mansfield Jr. The film follows Annie (Madison Wolfe), a 15-year-old tomboy whose fears about a lurking white van are dismissed by her family in 1970s Florida when the American Dream still murmured promises of safety. This dismissal reflects a greater societal inclination to discredit young women’s fears, as if teen paranoia were widely acceptable.
As the narrative progresses, The white van becomes a modern-day boogeyman, symbolizing the threat to youthful innocence. It reveals an unsettling truth: danger is often hidden in plain sight. The film’s tempo, as it meanders through teenage trivialities, parallels the slow development of real-life dangers when disbelief and denial set in.
Finally, “The Man in the White Van” addresses societal concerns about child safety, emphasizing the repercussions of ignoring warning signs. It reminds us that often,...

Based in part on the real-life crimes of Billy Mansfield Jr., The Man in the White Van is a 1970s set thriller from director Warren Skeels and co-writer Sharon Y. Cobb. It opens with a prologue set in 1970 showing the killer at work before jumping ahead to 1975 where Annie is riding her horse while Edgar Winter’s “Free Ride” plays on the soundtrack.
Annie is the middle child, with an older sister, Margaret who is about to be presented at the Debutant’s Ball, and a gun-obsessed younger brother Daniel.
Her parents Hellen and William wish she was more like Margaret rather than a tomboy who’s more interested in riding horses than being proper or caring if her legs are properly shaved.

Exclusive: Graham McTavish has signed on to star in Somewhere in Montana, an upcoming indie from writer-director Brandon Smith that will go before cameras later this year.
In the film, the Scottish actor will play John Thomas, a ranch owner who allows a Hollywood production company to come and use his ranch as a location for their movie when he runs into financial difficulties. Eden Matson is exec producing for Nova Vento Entertainment.
“I’m excited to be working on this film with Brandon,” said McTavish. “Not only because this is a script that only comes along rarely in an actor’s career, but also because it fulfills a dream of visiting the beautiful state of Montana. Exclusive: Sean Astin (Stranger Things), Ali Larter (The Rookie), Madison Wolfe (The Conjuring 2), Brec Bassinger (Stargirl), Skai Jackson (Bunk’d), Gavin Warren (12 Mighty Orphans) and Julianne Arrieta (Reagan) have signed on to star in The Man in the White Van, a true-crime thriller from Garrison Film Productions, Legion M, XYZ Films and writer-director Warren Skeels (Siesta Key).
The film co-written by Sharon Y. Cobb is set in 1974, watching as an ominous white van begins stalking a young girl from the town of Brooksville, Fl. Wolfe will play the lead role of Annie, with Bassinger cast as Annie’s sister Margaret.
