Disney Announces New Supernatural Show That's Perfect for Charmed Fans
Image
Charmed fans are finally being given the perfect replacement for the 1998 supernatural series. Disney has just ordered the single-camera drama Coven Academy to series.

According to Deadline, Coven Academy will be set against the moody backdrop of New Orleans, following a trio of teenage witches-in-training who are bound by destiny to guard their city against dangerous, ancient forces. Between unraveling dark secrets, mastering volatile magic, and facing off against distractingly cute rivals, they must also navigate the heartbreaks and deep bonds that come with growing up. The show's logline is reminiscent of that of Charmed, which followed a trio of sisters who used their combined "Power of Three" to protect innocent lives from evil beings such as demons and warlocks.

Coven Academy hails from High School Musical: The Musical: The Series creator Tim Federle, who shared in a statement that he pitched the show to Disney "as a love letter...

Its 89% Rotten Tomatoes score highlighted how well-received the show was, making the latest updates especially encouraging. According to Deadline, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place season 2 will return on September 12 with two new episodes on cable,...

How I Met Your Mother’s Creator’s Bold Move to Escape the ‘Aging’ Problem of Cast Members Could’ve Easily Backfired
Image
To escape the aging problem of its cast members, Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie, the creators of How I Met Your Mother, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, shot all of their scenes in Season 2 itself. In an interview with TV Gal, Thomas commented on this decision, saying:

At the beginning of year two we realized these kids were aging. We knew what their piece of the puzzle at the very end game of the show would be and we knew we had to grab it and we did.

This may have been a long shot that was taken by the showrunners, as even one link left untethered would’ve brought all of it crashing down. Thankfully, the long-term storytelling paid off for them in the end.

Goldbeak Review: An Eagle Among Chickens Seeks His Wings
Image
Goldbeak arrives as a Chinese computer-animated family film that tackles the well-worn “fish out of water” narrative through the lens of an orphaned eagle raised among chickens. Directed by Dong Long and Nigel W. Tierney, this lesser-known animated feature brings together a voice cast including David Henrie as the titular character, Valkyrae as his inventive sister Ratchet, and veteran voice actors Debra Wilson, Mick Wingert, and Crispin Freeman.

The premise sets up a classic tale of identity and belonging: a young eagle who has never learned to fly must discover his true heritage while navigating the gap between his adoptive chicken family and his biological legacy as the son of a prominent political figure. Aimed squarely at families with young children, Goldbeak enters a crowded field of animated features exploring themes of self-discovery and acceptance, carrying both the weight of expectation and the challenge of distinguishing itself from countless similar stories.

From ‘Agatha All Along’ to ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’: TV Witches Cast a Spell on Viewers
Image
From Samantha Stephens on “Bewitched” to Sabrina Spellman on “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” the concept of a TV show about witches is an old (pointed) hat. And it’s not a trend that will soon disappear, if there’s any indication from buzzy shows like the upcoming “Harry Potter” TV series on HBO and the second season of Netflix’s “Wednesday.”

But our historical depictions of witches and interpretations of the pagan beliefs are both steeped in arts and culture. And this means they come with good, bad and even conflicting tropes. When developing a TV show, it’s often up to the creators and their creative teams to decide which way something wiccan is coming for their projects.

That’s right, Disney+ and the Disney Channel have officially renewed the hit Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff for a second season, and fans are beyond excited (pun totally intended).

The sequel series follows an all-grown-up Justin Russo (David Henrie) as he steps into the mentor role, training a young wizard named Bille (Janice LeAnn Brown). But let’s be real, what fans really lost their minds over was the return of Selena Gomez as Alex Russo in season 1! With familiar faces like Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise popping in as well, the nostalgia is strong with this one.

So, what’s in store for season 2? More magic? More mayhem? More surprise cameos? Here’s everything we know so far about the next spellbinding chapter of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place!

Disney makes a big decision on a magical revival series!
Image
One of Disney+’s biggest recent revivals has gotten a big spot of renewal news!

Fans of Disney+ may love their shows but are wary of getting too invested. That’s because the streamer has a bad habit of canceling some shows after just one season. That includes some cult series like American Born Chinese, Renegade Nell, and Willow.

It’s also big-time shows that get the axe with Star Wars: The Acolyte. So it’s a bigger deal when a show gets a second season now.

Thankfully, it’s happened for one of the streamer’s bigger successes of 2024-25. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Wizards Beyond Waverly Place will be getting a second season following a great run on both Disney Channel and Disney+.

The original Wizards of Waverly Place ran on Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012 and launched Selena Gomez to stardom. She played Alex Russo, a mischievous...

The stage has been set for the siblings from Malcolm in the Middle to entertain audiences from all over the world once again.

As if that wasn't enough, the new episodes of Malcolm in the Middle has also added Anthony Timpano, Vaughan Murrae and Keeley Karsten to its cast. Karsten has been cast as Leah, the protagonist's daughter. Before she was cast in the short revival of the popular comedy, Keeley Karsten was seen as Natalie in The Fabelmans,...
