Charmed fans are finally being given the perfect replacement for the 1998 supernatural series. Disney has just ordered the single-camera drama Coven Academy to series.

According to Deadline, Coven Academy will be set against the moody backdrop of New Orleans, following a trio of teenage witches-in-training who are bound by destiny to guard their city against dangerous, ancient forces. Between unraveling dark secrets, mastering volatile magic, and facing off against distractingly cute rivals, they must also navigate the heartbreaks and deep bonds that come with growing up. The show's logline is reminiscent of that of Charmed, which followed a trio of sisters who used their combined "Power of Three" to protect innocent lives from evil beings such as demons and warlocks.

The wait for more Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is almost over. Disney has revealed when the fan-favorite sequel series to Wizards of Waverly Place will return with new episodes, as well as which stars from the original will be returning in a guest capacity.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 2 will premiere with its first two episodes on Disney Channel and Disney Channel On Demand on Friday, Sept. 12. Similar to Season 1, a whole batch of episodes will arrive on Disney+ in the United States and select international markets ahead of their Disney Channel premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 8. The new season of the Selena Gomez-produced Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff series will premiere with two episodes on Friday, September 12 at 7 p.m. Et/Pt on Disney Channel. All episodes will then drop on Disney+ in the U.S. and select international markets on Wednesday, October 8.

This season will deliver a dose of nostalgia with the return of iconic characters from Wizards of Waverly Place, including Mr. Laritate (Bill Chott) and Mantooth (Sean Whalen). Amanda Tepe, known for her many memorable roles throughout the original series, also makes a special appearance in the Christmas-themed episode.

Season 2 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place was officially announced on March 31, 2025, and filming started soon after on April 14. Production wrapped up on July 3, 2025. Fans can look forward to the new 10-episode season premiering on September 12 with a special two-episode debut.

This season takes a deeper look into Billie’s life as she realizes being part of the Russo family is more complicated than she expected.

With Roman and Milo discovering their own magical powers, the pressure is on Justin to train three young wizards for the upcoming Family Wizard Competition. As things get intense both inside and outside the family, a mysterious new danger shows up, threatening to shake the Russos to their core.

To escape the aging problem of its cast members, Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie, the creators of How I Met Your Mother, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, shot all of their scenes in Season 2 itself. In an interview with TV Gal, Thomas commented on this decision, saying:

At the beginning of year two we realized these kids were aging. We knew what their piece of the puzzle at the very end game of the show would be and we knew we had to grab it and we did.

This may have been a long shot that was taken by the showrunners, as even one link left untethered would’ve brought all of it crashing down. Thankfully, the long-term storytelling paid off for them in the end.

Gomez is reprising her role as Alex Russo in the Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, this fall. In the original series, the Russo family children, Alex (Gomez), Justin (David Henrie) and Max (Jake T. Austin), learn how to use their powers from their mortal dad, Jerry (David DeLuise.) It ran on Disney Channel from 2007-2012 for four seasons. In the series finale, Alex wins the family wizard competition and gains all of the family powers.

Green goo and big stars are joining forces once again for the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, which officially unveiled its host and nominees on Thursday.

Grammy-winning artist Tyla will take the reins as host when the show airs live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The slime-filled spectacle will simulcast across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., MTV2, and CMT, as well as international Nickelodeon channels, where fans can watch their favorite TV, movie and sports stars get covered in green glop.

This year’s nominees include a fresh batch of first-timers such as Gracie Abrams, Zach Bryan, Jordan Chiles, Frankie Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Doechii, Keith Lee, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey, Shohei Ohtani, and Florence Pugh.

Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar lead the nominations with four each, while Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, and Jelly Roll follow close behind with three nods apiece.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a spinoff of the Disney Channel Original Series Wizards of Waverly Place, was renewed for Season 2 in March 2025. Just weeks later, Disney already has an exciting update to share with fans.

Disney announced via X post that Season 2 of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is officially in production. The post features executive producer and series star David Henrie (Justin Russo), reprising his role from the original series, alongside costars Max Matenko (Milo Russo), Alkaio Thiele (Roman Russo), Taylor Cora (Winter), Janice LeAnn Brown (Billie), and Mimi Gianopulos (Giada Russo).
