The Conjuring film franchise is set to come to an end with the fourth installment, The Conjuring: Last Rites, which Warner Bros. has scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5, 2025 release – and with that date now just a few months away, a teaser trailer has dropped online. Up until this week, we didn’t have any plot info on The Conjuring: Last Rites, but Entertainment Weekly was finally able to draw some information out of the filmmakers. They shared that the film is set in 1986, five years after the events of The Devil Made Me Do It. The Warrens have retired from the exorcist business, largely due to Ed’s heart attack, the one sustained during the demonic happenings of the third film. They still hit the university circuit, presenting talks at various schools, but even those opportunities are drying up.

The first images from The Conjuring: Last Rites reveal Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's final supernatural case as the Warrens. As the fourth and final Conjuring film, directed once again by Michael Chaves, Wilson and Farmiga will reprise their roles as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they take on their last case. The Conjuring: Last Rites cast also includes Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, Tilly Walker, Molly Cartwright, Peter Wight, and Kate Fahy.

Now, via Entertainment Weekly, a total of eight first-look images from The Conjuring: Last Rites were revealed. The images show Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, along with several flashbacks to a young Ed and Lorraine, played by Orion Smith and Madison Lawlor.

Mia Tomlinson's Judy Warren was also revealed; Ed and Lorraine's daughter, who was played by Sterling Jerins and Mckenna Grace in previous movies.

Update: A behind-the-scenes video for The Conjuring: Last Rites has been released alongside the new images. You can check that out above. The video finds James Wan, Patrick Wilson, and Vera Farmiga reminiscing over their time in the franchise while teasing the latest installment. The Conjuring: Last Rites will bring the story of the Warrens to a close, but not before they investigate their darkest case yet. The first trailer for the film will be released on Thursday, so keep an eye out!

Warner Bros. is conjuring up a little something special for horror fans today, with the debut set of images for The Conjuring: Last Rites. Yes, we’ve almost made it to the end of the road with Patrick Wilsonand Vera Farmiga in the franchise that saw them step into the roles of world-famous and divisive paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, respectively. The duo has put the fear of god, Valak, and Annabelle in audiences over the last several movies, and Last Rites promises to bring it all home with the infamous Smurl family haunting.

All the main players are stepping into the flash of the camera in today’s first batch of images. One shot showcases Ed (Wilson) and Lorraine (Farmiga) as they give a presentation to an audience. On the screen behind them is a jack-in-the-box clown whose sinister smile takes us all the way back to the Annabelle films of yesteryear.
