Various experiences have led me to this point in my career. After graduating from art school I joined several packaging & graphic design firms in New York City. My start in photo styling began when I stepped in to help out a professional photographer who was operating on a limited budget.
From there I began freelancing working with Estee Lauder creating their displays, packaging, & special event graphics; with Tiffany & Co. as an illustrator, designing imagery for trophies; with a private label producer of fashion underwear; & with a firm that specialized in catalogs for high-end retail centers. I gained experience as an art director, stylist, & video producer, working with models for clients that included Ralph Lauren, The Limited, Old Navy, & The Gap.
Simultaneously, while freelancing in NYC, two art school friends & I founded a multi-disciplinary design firm called Top Spin. We eventually made the leap & went into business full time. Top Spin produced a wide range of industrial, graphic, & product designs. Our clients included lines for Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdale's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Barneys, Saks 5th Ave, San Francisco Museum of Art, Garnet Hill, The Met, Saks 5th Ave, & The MTA.
The career ambitions of the Top Spin partners eventually took different directions & we ended the business. I began a series of new projects freelancing for David Beam, Phillip Baloun & Preston Bailey as an event florist & renovating several homes with my partner. Years before I had helped my mom restore her Philadelphia townhouse which proved to be excellent training for the years of renovation projects in my life.
I took a position at Martha Stewart Living Magazine first as a Style Editor & ultimately becoming the Editorial Director of Home. I produced content, products, photo shoots, and hosted a radio program airing on Sirius during my 8 years with Martha Stewart. I continue to produce stories as a Contributing Editor for Living Magazine.
Fifteen years ago my partner & I decided to relocate to Europe & settled in Brussels, Belgium. After 6 months on the ground I took a position as an editor-at-large for an expat magazine called The Bulletin. I produced an advice column for expats who were relocating abroad, giving them style tips & resources for their transition. We decided to purchase a property in the center of Brussels where I had discovered an old Flemish bookstore built in the 17th century. It was so unique & had so many possibilities that we said yes to restoring & converting it into our flat.
I am based out of San Francisco where I continue to freelance as a prop stylist & set designer working on editorial & commercial shoots both in the US & abroad. In 2021 I joined the season 3 cast of Making It, airing on NBC, Hulu & Peacock. October 18, 2021
