‘David’ Review: ‘Marcel The Shell’ Meets ‘Twin Peaks’ In Dean Fleischer-Camp’s Surreal Series Starring Nathan Fielder
In an interview with Filmmaker Magazine, Dean Fleischer-Camp described the tone of his 2014 web series “Catherine” as “The New Banality.” With “David,” he adds yet another gem to his self-described banal canon.

The five-episode series premiered yesterday on Super Deluxe and stars Nathan Fielder (“Nathan For You”) as David, a recently-fired divorcee, as we learn from an uncannily accurate Tarot reader (Sally Berman). David’s vacantly concerned psychic tells him that he has a “black stone, like a rock, growing every minute” in his chest. If he doesn’t get rid of it, his body will de-compose in five weeks — hence the five episodes.

On the tail of the new abduction thriller, The Fourth Kind, is Victor Bornia’s Darkening Sky–an indie horror-thriller currently in post-production. We first told you about Rider Strong (Cabin Fever)'s new flick The Darkening Sky way back in August, and now, just in time for Afm, the flick has gotten itself a brand spankin' new trailer.

Ezra Buzzington (Halloween 2, The Hills Have Eyes), Charley Rossman (Superbad, "CSI"), Sally Berman (Angels and Demons), Daniel Kirschner, and Lashan Anderson have all signed up to join Strong in Victor Bornia's new flick.

Synopsis

When an alien abduction nightmare is revealed to have been much more than a dream, a skeptical grad student studying the “modern mythology” of UFOs and ETs finds himself confronting an impossible reality involving shape-shifting extraterrestrials, implanted objects, organ harvesting, and humans possessed by a malevolent alien presence unlike anything he has ever heard about... All while dealing with a growing suspicion that he is somehow the center of the aliens' plan.

Cabin Fever's Rider Strong is about to deal with a lot more than just a nasty flesh-eating virus in the new indie sci-fi/horror/psychological thriller hybrid Darkening Sky. Good thing for him he has a pretty killer cast along with him to shoulder the threat from this new menace.
