Steven Simkins was born in Farmington New Mexico and has had an interest in film since he was 9 years old. With his cousin, he started the production company Sooperfilms Productions and has made short films under that company since 2012. In 2021, he became one of Stephen King's "Dollar Babies" when he received permission to make an adaptation of King's short story "One for the Road."
