In an interview with CNN's Kiran Chetry on American Morning, Gop candidate Michele Bachmann dismissed the idea that President Obama could simply move to raise the debt ceiling by invoking the 14th Amendment, saying to do so would make him effectively "a dictator." Bachmann described any move to unilaterally end the immediate debt crisis unconstitutional. “Congress has the power to lay and collect taxes," Bachmann said. "It's Congress that does the spending. The President is prohibited to do that. If he had the power to do that he would effectively be a dictator."...

The New York Post is reporting tonight that American Morning co-host Kiran Chetry is leaving the morning show--and CNN. According to the story--citing "sources"--Chetry "was seen packing up her desk today" and plans to leave the network at the end of the month. In recent weeks, Chetry, who previously co-hosted Am with John Roberts (who himself left CNN for Fox News) has been part of a morning trio including Ali Velshi and Christine Romans.

Apparently, CNN's American Morning anchor Kiran Chetry has a loyal fan base, and they were a little bit worried about her after a two-day absence. Changes are coming to CNN's "American Morning." John Roberts, "American Morning" co-host alongside Kiran Chetry, is set to leave the show, CNN head Ken Jautz announced on Tuesday. Roberts wants to stay in Atlanta to be near his fiancé, Jautz explained in a memo to staff, and a reporting role for him is being discussed. As the murky details behind Michael Jackson's relationship with Dr Conrad Murray continue to unfold, a new dimension was added today by Murray's attorney, Edward Chernoff, during an interview with CNN. According to Chernoff, the 30 minute delay between efforts to revive Jackson and the 911 call - a delay that very well may have caused his death - was due to the fact Jackson did not have a telephone in his bedroom. Edward Chernoff, the lawyer for Michael Jackson's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, told CNN that a 911 call was not made immediately when Jackson was found to be ill. Chernoff told CNN's Kiran Chetry that the lack of a phone line in Jackson's bedroom contributed to the delayed 911 call, and that his client performed CPR on Jackson for 25-30 minutes. When asked if 911 was called immediately, Chernoff said, "No, I mean look, not immediately. Dr. Murray is his personal physician, that is something you would want is for your doctor to be right there if you were going into cardiac arrest, he was there, especially a cardiologist, he was there to try to revive Michael." The lawyer goes on, "When it became clear that he could not revive him through CPR, then he sought to call 911. The problem, Kiran, is that in Michael Jackson's home, the phones don't work.

This just in: It's a boy for Cnn's Kiran Chetry! The American Morning co-anchor and her husband, Cw weather forecaster Chris Knowles, welcomed their second child, Christopher, at 10:45 p.m. last night. "Dad and baby are sleeping soundly," Chetry, 33, tells People of the 7 lb. bundle of joy. "Mom's too excited to get any shut eye."Christopher, who "looks so much like Daddy," says Chetry, joins big sister Maya Rose, 2, capping off a mini-baby boom over at CNN – Anchor Campbell Brown gave birth to her first child, a boy, back in December. "We were laughing about that," Chetry joked at the time.

NEW YORK -- American Morning executive producer Ed Litvak will leave the show in early March, CNN confirmed Monday.

Litvak's last day will be March 7. The network said it was his decision to leave.

He had worked at CNN since January 2004 and had been executive producer of American Morning since August 2006. A permanent replacement for Litvak has yet to be announced, but CNN said senior producer Barbara Simon would be in charge for now.

Litvak had taken over at American Morning after four months of running the show on a temporary basis following the departure of Kim Bondy. He had overseen the transition of the show from hosts Miles O'Brien and Soledad O'Brien to its current team of John Roberts and Kiran Chetry.

"Ed did a terrific job transitioning the new anchor team into place, and he has worked tirelessly to build a format for 'American Morning, ' which we think is the right niche for CNN in the morning," a network spokeswoman said.

NEW YORK -- Joel Cheatwood, the news executive who used tabloid techniques to great success in local TV, jumped CNN for a post at Fox News Channel.

The move was confirmed by CNN.

Cheatwood joined CNN in 2003 as a program development executive and had been an adviser to CNN president Jon Klein. He had brought local anchor Rick Sanchez to CNN and, most recently, was consulted by Klein when Klein wanted to bring FNC anchor Kiran Chetry to CNN. (Chetry was hired Wednesday to become co-anchor of American Morning.)

Cheatwood was one of CNN's main weapons in the battle against Fox News Channel, which overtook CNN long before Klein and Cheatwood arrived on the scene.

Cheatwood is well-known in news circles for his stunts in local TV that included sound effects and, in 1997, his hiring of tabloid talk-show host Jerry Springer as a commentator at WMAQ-TV in Chicago. He also has worked for stations in Miami, Boston and CBS O&O WCBS-TV in New York.
