According to Deadline, Wizards of Waverly Place is now set to get a sequel show starring Gomez and Henrie. Disney has ordered a pilot for the show, which the two main actors will executive produce in addition to starring in.

Exclusive: One of Disney’s signature comedies, Wizards of Waverly Place, is getting a sequel. Disney Branded Television has ordered a pilot for the follow-up, which is executive produced by original stars Selena Gomez and her small screen sibling David Henrie. Gomez will guest star in the pilot for Disney Channel as the character that helped launch her career, Alex Russo, with David Henrie reprising the role of Justin Russo as a series regular. He is joined by new cast members Janice LeAnn Brown (Disney’s Just Roll with It), Alkaio Thiele (Call Me Kat) and Mimi Gianopulos (American Princess).

The revival pilot comes from writers and executive producers Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas who are behind another Disney Channel comedy spinoff, Raven’s Home. It picks up after a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind, opting for a normal, human life...

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the short-lived, kid-friendly horror series “Deadtime Stories,” which aired on Nickelodeon from 2012-2014.

Selena Gomez knocked back Disney's offer to headline a Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff series, according to her co-star, Jennifer Stone.

Stone discussed the proposed Wizards of Waverly Place spinoff in an episode of the Wizards of Waverly Pod. "Now, I don't know how true this is, but I was told that it was pitched to Selena to do a Harper-Alex spinoff, and she said no," Stone said. "And [it was] because she had a lot of other things going on." The actor added that Disney apparently approached Gomez "right after" The Wizards of Waverly Place wrapped up in 2012, and suggested that Harper and Alex moving into an apartment together in the show was intended to lay the groundwork for the unrealized project.

Jennifer Stone reveals that she was told Selena Gomez turned down a Harper-Alex spin-off after ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ ended.

David DeLuise is reflecting on some fellow actors’ unprofessional behaviour on TV sets — and he’s not afraid to name names.

During the latest edition of PodCo’s “Wizards of Waverly Pod” rewatch series, in which he and fellow “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum Jennifer Stone share hosting duties, DeLuise looked back at the time he landed a guest spot as a murder victim on “CSI: Miami”, in which he shared a scene with star David Caruso.

His character, he explained, met his end after being stabbed in the neck, with Caruso’s Det. Horatio Caine showing up at the crime scene.

“So I was dead. All I did in the scene with him, I was dead,” DeLuise recalled.

More than a decade after the "Wizards of Waverly Place" series finale aired in 2012, showrunner Peter Murrieta validated one of Disney Channel's biggest ships: Alex Russo and Stevie Nichols. Speaking with former "Wizards" stars Jennifer Stone and David DeLuise on the "Wizards of Waverly Pod" on March 27, Murrieta confirmed that Alex, played by Selena Gomez, was bisexual and had romantic feelings for Stevie, played by Hayley Kiyoko.

"It was pretty clear to all of us what that relationship was."

When asked if there was a storyline he would have liked to explore further in the series, Murrieta didn't hesitate to reference the obvious flirtations between the characters on screen. "I wish we could have played more with what was quite obvious to a lot of us: the relationship between Stevie and Alex," he said.
